One day you’re lifted upon shoulders; and the next, your face down in the mud. The highs and lows of the 162 game season, and what the San Francisco Giants have learned from the first two games of this series in Pittsburgh, is that whiplash can be even more acute. Not one game to the next, but from inning to inning.

Another picture of Judge Alito's flags have been published. Alito allegedly flew one flag - the upside-down US flag in January 2021, a practice adopted by "the Stop the Steal". His house also has pictures of it flying the "Appeal to Heaven" Pine Tree flag. This flag was adopted by White Christian nationalists in the 2010s.

On this day 90 years ago, US gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow – better known as Bonnie and Clyde – were shot dead in a police ambush. The infamous pair had gained notoriety for a string of bank robberies before law enforcement officers caught up with them in Louisiana on 23 May 1934.

Their major notariety wasn't that they robbed banks - but that they murdered people in their getaways - 12 total including nine law enforcement officers. This is why the police pumped 112 shots into the car of which 43 hit the pair.

They also pumped them with so much lead because they'd made such remarkable escapes from seemingly impossible situations before. The 1967 did not much exaggerate these.

It's complicated. Early on it was really good. Now, unfortunately, politics has gotten in the way of our relationships, and Mrs Slug has become more vocal with me about her relationship with her parents and her sibs.

Mrs Slug noted that her in-laws are almost as weird and strange as mine. I concurred.

On June 8, Mrs Slug and I will gain a new set of in-laws. CJ and Elle will be married that day. Looking forward to the party. We really like Elle's parents and family. Fun people. Fortunately, they seem to like us, also. At least we haven't driven them off.

My father and mother in law were, like many people from the Deep South, warm, friendly and gracious hosts who were simultaneously redneck bigots. I had a love hate relationship with them but in the latter years of their lives the hate began to win over and I stopped going on visits to their place in the wilds of Oregon. No one seemed to mind. My wife is estranged from her sister who is a selfish nasty piece of work. (My wife loves her in-laws!)

same, my in-laws never visit, we barely see or talk to them.

the kids sort of wish they had nice grandparents like many of their friends seem to have. we try a bit more w/ my mom who comes for a couple weeks a year. the kids are older now 17/20 so it might be too-little-too-late. better something than nothing at least

No 1 got to spend a bunch of time with both my parents and the inlaws. No 2 and No 3 didn't because we moved to Ky.

my in-laws are a strange bunch. it is not all that surprising that they dont really talk to me or never approved of the marriage because of cultural differences, ie caste, language, part of India.

the strange thing is that they seem to have no desire to connect with their grandkids. i have noticed that despite child-parent relationship, most people LOVE spending time w/ their cute little grandkids.

we have thought of all the conventional explanations and none of them seem to apply. so it is just a strangeness that we deal with.
