Didn't do too much. Worked some on Sat and Mon. Sun drove down to SC. No 3 has my Acura and it needs new tires. I had to go to Costco because I bought the tires online using my account. Drove back up highway 9 to Alice's, then across San Mateo Bridge, and went up the newly re-opened Redwood Road in Castro Valley. Took about 3 hours becuase I was behind a slow moving car up highway 9/35. Probably should take about 2.5 hours.
I actually have never eaten there. When we stop by on Miata drives, we just use it as a bathroom break, check out the other cars, and then keep going. What would you recommend? At some point I'll stop and eat there.
4 day trip to Seattle. just got back this morning. some good family time since we went to visit the older one for their 21st birthday.
the best thing we did was a seaplane flight from Seattle to Port Ludlow and back. the plane waited for us while we had a nice waterfront lunch. the sweeping views of Seattle, Puget Sound, and the surrounding mountains were all great.
Sports programming- Around the Horn. Got a bit sad watching the last ever ATH on Friday. Loved that it was a place smart people with strong opinions could disagree and still get along and have fun. I will miss Tony and all the regulars.
CARLSBAD – California freshman Ziqin (Eric) Zhou shot 1-over-par 73 in the final round of the 2025 NCAA Men's Golf Championship on Monday to cap an impressive performance across 72 holes played at Omni La Costa.
The Golden Bear rookie finished the championship tied for 22nd place individually at 1-over-par (74-68-74-73—289). Zhou played the fourth round as an individual after he was among the top nine golfers in the field not on one of the 15 advancing teams through three rounds of competition. Cal placed 17th as a team on Sunday, shooting 20-over-par 884 over three rounds.
[SB] Cal's season ends as Oklahoma unsurprisingly mercy-rules the Bears in the NCAA regional finals 12-1 via a 4 run 2nd and 8 run fourth. Benny Agbayani's daughter got one of the Sooner's four dingers.
Catching up on the news I saw that Marjorie Taylor Greene and others on the right want to see Derek Chauvin freed claiming that George Floyd died of a drug overdose. These are folks who, in 1955, would have claimed that Emmet Till merely suffered a bad fall and in 1968 would have asserted that Dr. Martin Luther King committed suicide.
Trump throws every university into chaos by halting all international student visas. The rub is apparently the thought police need to vet their social media profiles to make sure that aren't part of the Woke Mob.
Shohei Ohtani led off the second straight game with a home run, and this time the Dodgers were far from done scoring. Coupled with another stellar start from Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the 7-2 win over the Guardians on Monday night was the Dodgers’ first lopsided victory in a week and a half.
WTF. How come I've never heard of this story? A Communist Jewish manager brings a washed up pitcher, two Negro League stars, and others to play Hitlers team in Neurenberg... and then later to face off against General Patton's team packed with ringers.

I was driving during this play so I was listening to the Dodgers radio broadcast and Rick Monday knew the rule. I'd have thought most ex-players knew the rule so I'm a bit surprised Dontrelle Willis didn't, though he is a pitcher so maybe he has an excuse. I did know the rule but that may be from coaching No 3's teams.
I was surprised that folks didn't know this rule. I was taught as a kid that once a fielder touches a fly ball, the runner may advance provided that they "tag up". The runner could be put out if tagged before reaching the next base safely. Leaving too early means the runner could be put out at the base he left. But what's too early? Before the ball is *touched* by the fielder; catching is extra, though often expected.
I don't have a favorite style. I like just about all of them. I haven't had Connecticuit style so I may have to fix that the next time I'm out there. In college I made Chicago style after I got a Chicago style pizza kit. Turned out pretty good.
How was your long weekend?

that La Honda hill is considered a classic for Bay Area cyclists.
as for Alice's, i just looked at the menu and nothing looks amazing. on the other hand when you are there, everything looks amazing.
mostly just good fresh ingredients, fun vibe, good desserts. a nice stop during a multi-hour bike ride.
