A’s drop 7th straight, fall to Twins 8-4

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2025/6/2/24442026/as-drop-7th-straight-fall-to-twins-8-4

For the seventh straight game and the 18th time in 19 tries, the Athletics lost a baseball game. Tonight’s opponent, the Minnesota Twins, didn’t even give the home team the courtesy of having a lead all game as they beat the A’s 10-4 to begin a 4-game series between these two clubs.

Mets beat Dodgers 4-3 in extra innings.

it was a 1000p ET start. we went to bed w/ the Mets up 1-0 in the 3rd inning.

I was going to ask any Dodger fans to please ask Shohei to hit his homers earlier in the game. I was up to see his two strikeouts but in bed by time he homered.

Over the last few weeks, he's looked kinda ugly at the plate. Mostly since his baby was born. On Sunday the cameras caught him falling asleep against the railing in the sun. Most of his strikeouts are on breaking pitches low in the zone. Not sure why any pitcher would try to throw a fastball towards the top of the zone like Fried did on Fri. His HR yesterday was on a hanging curve thigh or waist high.

Tanner Scott struggles continue, Dodgers lose to Mets in 10 innings

https://www.truebluela.com/2025/6/2/24442076/tanner-scott-dodgers-mets-shohei-ohtani-dustin-may

The series opener between two of the best teams in baseball did not disappoint, with a tight affair throughout. Tanner Scott’s struggles continued in the 10th inning, when the Mets scored a pair off the Dodgers closer then held on for a 4-3 on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.

Scott allowed hits to his first two batters faced in the 10th, with a double by Francisco Alvarez and single by Francisco Lindor each plating a run, both with exit velocities of 108.5 mph and 102.5 mph, respectively.

Tanner Scott has not been good. Dodgers made him one of the highest paid relievers and he hasn't been good for maybe the last month. In the last couple of weeks he's blown or given up go ahead runs in at least 3 -4 games.

Lindor hits lead-off HRs in 1st and 10th innings. they still need another double in the 10th to win it.

Giants waste eight shutout Logan Webb innings and lose, 1-0

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2025/6/2/24442094/sf-giants-san-diego-padres-waste-logan-webb-shutout

Logan Webb went eight scoreless innings on Monday night, and so did the San Francisco Giants hitters. Technically, the Giants went 10 scoreless, while the San Diego Padres got a run in the 10th off an automatic runner, a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly to deal the Giants a frustrating 1-0 loss.

Last summer, my family visited Ohio for our family vacation, including a trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. In one of the rooms, there was a large exhibit with Beatles stuff and another large exhibit with Rolling Stones stuff. I put my arm around my then-15-year-old son and said

"Son, there are two kinds of people in this world: Beatles fans and Stones fans. Which are you"

In response, he looks me right in the eye and says "I'm a Hendrix fan".

I love my son.

speaking of egg creams, i think this is a east coast thing since HAG and i went to a hot dog place a couple weeks ago and he had never heard of one.

to be clear, an egg cream has neither egg nor cream.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_cream

An egg cream is a cold beverage consisting of milk, carbonated water, and flavored syrup (typically chocolate or vanilla), as a substitute for an ice cream float

Ideally, the glass is left with 2⁄3 liquid and 1⁄3 foamy head. Despite the name, the drink contains neither eggs nor cream

The NCAA Baseball Super Regional teams are an intriguing collection of blue blood programs and a few ones new to the party. Normally I root for the underdogs in this. UTSA and Murray State are among the final sixteen advancing. But to this point the most successful group are the ACC teams-of the nine ACC squads who made the 64-team field, five are moving on. I separate the supers participants into the following categories. SEC: 4 teams, including three hosting, ACC: five teams include NC (hosting), Duke (hosting), Louisville (hosting), FSU and Miami, NON-P4’s: Oregon State (who are Independent in baseball), Murray State, Coastal Carolina and UTSA, and finally REMAINING P4’s other than ACC/SEC: UCLA, Arizona and West Virginia. Other than underdogs generally, I will be rooting mildly for the ACC. Oregon State remains highly ranked and are hosting. I guess it would be sort of cool to see them thumb their noses at the moneyed conferences, so I also find myself rooting for the Beavs.
