Brooklyn had four first round picks. The Warriors had none.

Also saw a video where Matt Barnes thinks it also has to do with young kids specializing in basketball and AAU teams playing year around. Kids don't get a chance to rest. Or play other sports. This is analogous to baseball with pitchers pitching year around and travel ball teams starting as young as 7 or 8, and throwing curves as young as 9 years old.

A’s Snap Skid, Beat Tigers 3-0

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2025/6/25/24455855/as-snap-skid-beat-tigers-3-0

The A’s only needed one big hit to beat the league-best Detroit Tigers on Tuesday afternoon, using the powerful swing of first baseman Nick Kurtz to beat the Tigers 3-0 to even up the series and set up the rubber match tomorrow morning. Could the second-worst team in the American League actually take the series from the team with the best record in baseball? Anything can happen in this sport and tomorrow’s series finale should be fun. If you can manage to wake up in time.

Giants mount a comeback, then lose in extras to the Marlins (8-5)

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2025/6/25/24456078/giants-marlins-recap-scores-logan-webb-casey-schmitt

There’s a lot that you can say about the San Francisco Giants 8-5, extra-innings loss to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, and most of it is bad. You can say a few good things, like that they showed resilience or had a nice comeback, but most of the things you can say are bad.

It’s a particularly frustrating kind of bad, in that it’s close to being good. The Giants, still in the upper third of MLB teams this year, have not committed to the bit of being bad like, say, their divisional co-habitants in Denver. They haven’t even committed to the bit of being mediocre like their divisional foes in Phoenix. They’ve instead seemingly committed to the concept of being good, but lately seem to only put one foot in to that dance.

Dodgers fight through the rain, take down Rockies 8-1

https://www.truebluela.com/2025/6/25/24456005/dodgers-rockies-game-recap

The Dodgers have now won five straight games against the Colorado Rockies this season and have captured five consecutive series wins after defeating Colorado 8-1 on Wednesday.

The Dodgers turned to Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Wednesday to end his month on a high note, as he looked to pick up his first win in the month of June. That task proved difficult as Yamamoto’s counterpart, rookie Chase Dollander, went toe for toe with him through the first half of Wednesday’s contest.

Cal Bear and Olympian Bronze medalist Georgia Hunter Bell was one of 18 pacers in Faith Kipyegon's attempt today to break 4 minutes in the mile. The 4 minute barrier remains, but Kipyegon did beat her own world record, running 4:06.42.

There are two in East Oakland: one near Lake Merritt on E. 18th St. and the original tiny hole in the wall on International. Others I love include Pho Huong Que and Pho Anh Hua (San Leandro). Ms. Strut’s favorite is Side Street Pho in Alameda.

It’s time for another edition of Oski Disciple’s quote of the day.

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” — George Carlin

This is why George Carlin remains a national treasure. Even though he died in 2008 (a few days more than 17 years ago, in fact), he was insightful in thought provoking ways that should give everyone pause.

The quote, unfortunately, tells us why we are in the predicament we are in. Think about it.
