The linked article indicates that SDSU signalled it's "intent to resign". Intent is not a formal resignation. And that's what SDSU will hang its legal hat on, I would imagine.
Call it for what it is - MWC is trying to extort money out of SDSU.
I wonder if they got some sort of wink wink nod nod, or some other indication from the Pac-12 but it never happened. But that would still be stupid on their part.
