Rank 'em: Jello shot, Jager shot, Fireball shot, a hard slap to your bare left buttcheek, a high-5 from Norweigian crown prince Haakon Magnus (UC Berkeley, BA Poli Sci 1999)
They are normal samples - a high five from someone you probably don't care about is the horizon between good and bad. The butt slap is supposed to represent something physically painful, so something bad.
I don't remember much about the game, but I remember how I felt. That "kiss your sister" feeling of "meh". I remember the tie felt halfway good because Cal was terrible in Bruce Snyder's first year, losing to cupcake San Jose State in the second game of the season, losing to an okay Ricky Foggie at Minnesota, getting smoked by USC and #10 Tennessee. But I also remember feeling kinda bad because Arizona was just as bad as Cal. Cal went on to tie a terrible Wazzu team that year too in Japan. Also, the Pac-10 had four tie games in conference that season, including 3 by Arizona.
No, you're thinking of the '83 game with U of A (33-33)when Cal made a remarkable comeback and had a late field goal try (from over 50 yards) to win. The '87 game was a more pedestrian affair that ended 23 all.
I'm not a horse racing fan perse, but the experience of going to a track, seeing how the horses look, reading the odds, and watching them race 'round after betting the minimum bet while drinking a beer is a great day.
It is forever since I was at a horse race, but do have fond memories of GGF with my dad making bets for me even if I was too young to have a beer at that time.
it pains me to say it since i really like watching baseball in person more than all others. but in terms of time spent (watching TV) over last few years it has fallen behind cycling, football and basketball.
The movie's primary antagonist - "El Guapo" was played by Alphonso Arau, who I loved from his scene stealing Juan "THE Zhjoan Wilder?" the smuggler from Romancing the Stone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQHRizks1sQ
Alphonso Arau is alive and well at 91 years old. He directed "A Walk in the Clouds" as well an adaptation of his then wife and now ex-wife's novel "Like Water for Chocolate".
An interesting article on MLB Robo Balls-and-Strikes, the difference on how humans and robots see the strike zone, and the resulting pitcher and batter adjustments to it.
there were a couple of moments of general excitement, but the Red Bull cars are just too good - although maybe more accurately, the RedBull car in the hands of Verstappen is just too much - so there's only so much entertainment to be had
The first goal was a beauty and should have capped a deserving win for the US. Then Canada got the lucky handball and penalty shot to kick off 30 minutes of wacky CONCACAF action.
I am perhaps colored by watching Jaden Neal give the ball away in the defensive third at least 10 times and Miles "Calamity" Robinson flail his arms around every time a cross came in. Christ, they sucked last night
It’s tough…I agree with Kerr that a Draymond-less W’s team really has no shot at another ring…unfortunately, with the new CBA the way it is, a W’s team featuring Draymond really has little shot at a ring, either.
[New York Times] John Kelly - Trump's former chief of staff - alleges under oath that Trump tried to get the DOJ to go after his political enemies, giving specific examples like directing the IRS to go after top FBI officials who he disliked. The IRS ended up auditing FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. This comes on the heels of Kelly also claiming that Trump used the FBI to help DeSantis win governorship in 2018

A movie based on a true story about a small Inuit tribe in the Arctic Circle. A recent college grad goes up there to teach HS as part of his service for paying off his college debt. He finds that the kids up there have a high suicide rate and don't care about school. He starts up a lacrosse team to get them into something other than drinking and drugs. They get invited to the National Lacrosse U-19 national championship.

Diplomat - finished season 1. great suspenseful cliffhanger ending to the season.
Suits - watched the 2 part pilot about a guy who is working his way up in a law firm w/o going to law school. it was perfectly fine and entertaining but gets predictable quickly. i liked Partner Track better if we are talking about modern day legal profession comedy-dramas.
Is That Cake? - some ridiculous reality show i watched w/ child where the baker contestants try to make cakes that looks like real objects.

Man, I don't ever want to celebrate the kind of violence endemic to our shitty prisons, but it's hard to feel too bad about this one. You won't be surprised that responses to the news on twitter including various Larry Nasser truthers.

1. jager
2. fireball
3. jello
jager is not as bad as its reputation of a drunken college booze.
it has a distinct good taste, works for cocktails, etc.
not sure why buttcheeks and high 5's are on the list. maybe for the non-drinkers? HAG?
They are normal samples - a high five from someone you probably don't care about is the horizon between good and bad. The butt slap is supposed to represent something physically painful, so something bad.
None of those for me.
1. Fireball (see #5)

3. Jello

5. Butt slap, unless it's from Ana de Armas

Also, the Pac-10 had four tie games in conference that season, including 3 by Arizona.
You're forgetting that the tie represented a big comeback. Cal was down by 3 scores (I want to say 20 points) and seemingly headed for another loss.
No, you're thinking of the '83 game with U of A (33-33)when Cal made a remarkable comeback and had a late field goal try (from over 50 yards) to win. The '87 game was a more pedestrian affair that ended 23 all.
Point taken. You're right, I was confusing the '83 game with the '87 game.

Horse Racing is pretty cool. Especially when you're at the race and seeing the thoroughbreds run past the line. There is so much power in them.
I still try to watch the Derby and the other triple crown races when I remember.
