Cons:

Requires fuel (food), water, maintenance •Generates waste products •Overload requires complete system replacement •Quantitative capability suspect •Limited life •Difficult to interface and network •Low precision display

•Could be hard to read in microgravity

Anchor Brewing being shut down as a going concern: https://www.opb.org/article/2023/07/12/historic-anchor-brewing-co-is-closing-after-127-years-with-beer-sales-in-decline/

A lot of the coverage is written as if it's a free-standing company going out of business, but as far as I can tell, this is a case of a subsidiary being shut down by the parent corporation (Sapporo).

In 7th grade middle school, I talked my mom into buying me a fluorescent yellow windbreaker for when we did our back to school shopping, by either Mossimo or Stussy, can’t remember, but it was f-ing bright. I was so pumped, and wore it on the first day of school. While we were all hanging around before school started that first day, some a$$hole sh-tbird made fun of me for wearing it…I took it off, hid it in the closet and never wore it again…always felt bad about that.

No 2 liked to wear some pink stuff (loved Dora) and had this cool pink polo. Wore it to preschool in Ky and some little punk kid (I assume) said, "boys shouldn't wear pink" and he stopped wearing pink.

Maillot Jaune - the yellow jersey of the Tour de France

since you asked, here is the latest update.

- flat sprint stage today (stage 11 of 21). overall contenders taking it easy.

- not surprisingly, the top two contenders Pogacar and Vingegaard (winners from last 3 years) are in the top 2 spots with a substantial gap to 3rd place and beyond.

- the top 2 are only separated by 17 sec

- there are 10 sec bonuses for each stage winner and plenty of hard mountain stages left, so it should be a close one going into the 2nd half

If you're keeping score, James Comer, Rudy Giuliani, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith have been trying to gin up a conspiracy of corruption against Joe Biden. They breathlessly touted their whistleblower. Then they said the whistleblower went missing. Then they said he was dead. Then they said the found him, but he's trying to protect himself because Biden is out to get him when he's actually a Chinese spy and an arms dealer on behalf of the Chinese government before the allegations came out. What a bunch of dolts.

Jul 12, 2023·edited Jul 12, 2023

I think it’s more CBS’/general sports media indifference to and apathy towards Cal revenue athletics in general. I have zero confidence that CBS is actually aware of the exorbitant buyout which makes firing Wilcox pretty much a non-starter, save for a disastrous, 3-29 type season. But at any self-respecting P5 school that values winning, a HC with his level of stagnation would be coaching for his job. But Knowlton’s gonna Knowlton…he almost kept Fox around.

To piggy back on SGB’s below…this schedule is as difficult as any I can recall…just a bear, and with a roadie at North Texas, Hugh Freeze’s Auburn roster, Penix, Nix, Caleb Williams, plus a couple of squads that Wilcox basically can’t beat (UCLA, Wazzu), I would be more surprised with 6-6 than I would with 3-9.

2023 is going to be brutal for Cal. Tough schedule, other Pac teams are strong. 2024 is our year. Rosebowl, baby!

Better go to the Ucla game this year. It’ll be our last chance to see Cal play in the rose bowl. The stadium, not the game.

I'm already planning on going with No 2 and 3. No 2 will be flying back to Nashville directly from LAX.

Expand full comment

I read on Athlon that on a scale of 0 to 5 Wilcox is a 3 so kind of warm. If you are a zero you are a candidate for a bronze statue. If you are a 5 you'll likely be run out of town before the end of the 2023 season if not tarred and feathered beforehand!

Expand full comment

I think Wilcox should at least be a 4. Like many people on that list, he hasn’t had a winning season since 2019 and has never had a winning Pac12 season at anytime.

Expand full comment

He likely would be coaching for his job THIS season at any other P5 school.
