MLB All-Star Game was tied 6-6 after the ninth, so the game was decided by batting practice. NL wins.

Even though the graphics for the tribute to Hank Aaron was incredible, they conveniently left out the best part of Vin Scully's announing. "A Black man is getting a standing ovation in the Deep South for breaking a record of an all-time baseball idol. And it is a great moment for all of us, and particularly for Henry Aaron... " I think there was 3-4 seconds of no sound, so I wonder if it was removed post edit. Just before air.

I thought it was a great idea to have a home run derby. Made it much more exciting than extra innings for an exhibition game that was for fun.

Yeah, I saw some complaining about this elsewhere but the fact is that teams run out of players if the All-Star Game goes too long, and it's an exhibition so the result doesn't actually matter. Given that, the home run shootout thing was a fun way to decide it.

And teams try to get all the pitchers in that are available. I know that the NL didn't have any available pitchers. Pretty much 1 per inning, except for the closers.

The Pioneer league that the Oakland Ballers play in also do a HRD for extra innings.

KALISPELL, Mont. -- The Ballers began the second half of the Pioneer League season much like they ended the first: solid pitching and another victory. Oakland bested the Glacier Range Riders on Tuesday, 3-1, for its fifth win in a row.

Thinking about getting basketball season tickets since No 3 is taking a gap year before PT school. The last couple of years, Cal has had a special ticket package where you get the best available seat assigned a day or two before the game. I think it's cheaper than regular season tickets, and let's be honest, I'm probably going to be sitting somewhere else anyways.

Here is a list of some interesting folks buried/memorialized in Colma's various cemeteries. Let's highlight Phoebe Apperson Hearst who, along with Jane Sather and Charles Franklin Doe, personally funded a bunch of the original buildings and three of the first ten years of UC Berkeley's operating budget. My favorite people who were left off the article below are Wyatt Earp, Levi Strauss, Charles De Young, Lillie Hitchcock Coit, George Moscone, Joe Alioto, Bill Graham (presents), Anthony Bajada (inventor of the pull tab), Vince Guaraldi (composer of the music from the Peanuts), Alex Anderson (cartoonist of Rocky/Bullwinkle), chocolatier Etienne Guittard. There are so many formerly interesting people buried in Colma.

Haha..yeah right. You mean after the protests went up after troops were sent there? No where to go but down.

A friend's brother was a desk jockey at DHS who got pressed to wear a gun and go arrest illegal immigrants. He said that the DHS has a daily quota of people they have to arrest. They got a letter notifying them that their departmental quota just went up 75%.

Rich Lyons’ testimony, with what the committee seized on regarding the university’s damning failure (in some of the committee members’ eyes) to reign in the political speech of, in particular, one of its faculty members that was recently promoted may, I fear, result in the Trump administration trying to withhold billions of dollars in funding from the University of California. It’s like McCarthyism but with huge financial stakes and no guardrails. Bracing for the worst. https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/uc-berkeley-chancellor-congress-antisemitism-20771495.php

Seems to me that if the UC loses funding then the administration was going to do that anyway and is just fishing for a reason.
