I have seen on my vehicle's subreddit that there are updates occasionally to my car's computer system.
And while I can fault myself for buying the highest trim level - I like the luxury parts, but I wish it wasn't full flat panel "buttons" - I would love more tactile media + climate control buttons instead of hitting flat plastic.
FET: I have had to get a new drier and a new washing machine recently and both have those kind of flat panel touch buttons instead of regular buttons. It’s annoying, takes like 5x longer to press a button than it used to, not sure why that is considered an upgrade?
It looks nicer (when it's not covered by my fingerprints)
I read something (dubiously backed up of course) that making one plastic panel for a big screen is cheaper than producing all of the cut outs and knobs and buttons for the tactile thing - but if this was the case, why do the lower trim models still have the tactile thing? So I am unconvinced.
The last time I was in Istanbul I exchanged my Turkish lira for euros. I was left with about the small change equivalent of $50 USD which I spent at the airport on Burger King before heading off to Frankfurt.
Apparently they went to using a plastic-type of currency, so the old paper-type was recalled. Unless you are in England to exchange them, you get screwed.
You can take them into the Bank of England to exchange them. I had this problem the last time I was in the UK in 2019, and because I have a British bank account I was able to do so at Barclays, but you need to be an account holder.
Thanks. I was hoping that a hotel would exchange the bills for me next time I go (it’s the 5 and 10 pound notes that have expired) but think you are correct, the Bank of England might have to do it. I think the £20 and £50 are expiring too, but I am not sure when. It’s a bit frustrating.

Probably various election results live. After a while I find TV coverage just repetitive and rarely adding much interpretation of value. I was at school during 9/11, saw clips on the internet, came home to see the same clips on TV and just turned it off as not a lot was changing any more. I really appreciate reading the news after for distilling out the important things and generally better editing/fact-checking.
Rodney King riot (having had to withdraw to a safer distance on the second day) and the aftermath of the Northridge Quake. I guess the afternoon of 9/11 after I eventually got home from downtown DC.
I was thinking the other day about currently running shows, and I think there is a clear top tier of shows that are just a cut above the rest in terms of being well done overall: writing, acting, direction, production.
I think it is a short list of Lasso, Only Murders, For All Mankind. But obviously I have not seen everything. Am I missing something?
The Witcher S2 continues to be not-that-good. Way too many storylines that supposedly mesh but right now make it ultra-confusing. But Henry Cavill is 100% invested in the role, and I feel my geek cred would take a hit if I don't finish out the season. 9/19.
Finally saw Everything Everywhere All at Once, very silly in parts but very good overall. That said, I think I need to take a break from films about generational trauma.
It pains me to say this, but the Old Man - after an amazing first few episodes is slowing down for me.
Also the Danny Stevens (and his brother) plotlines in For All Mankind are both the most hatable AND least interesting. Please leave them in a crater somewhere on Mars.
I've only seen E1 of S3. I think it's prob close to the end? Will start catching up soon. But yeah, not interested in the Stevens kids. Or Karen either (based on her interaction with a Stevens kid in S2). But curious where things go in S3.
See S3 coming next month. A show with an odd premise, but very entertaining. And violent at times.
Former Sec of Defense Miller contradicts Trump's that any troops were offered. Baseball is a funny game. After winning 19 of 21 and completing a four game sweep of the Giants, the Dodgers have dropped consecutive games to the worst team in baseball, losing tonight’s game by a score of 8-3.
The bats never got going in this one. Mookie Betts and Cody Bellinger hit solo home runs, but outside of that, the Dodgers only managed four more hits against a Nationals pitching staff that has the second worst ERA in baseball. Through the first two games of this series, the boys in blue are 1-17 with runners in scoring position.
The Dodgers found themselves behind before they had a chance to put runs on the board. Victor Robles and Cesar Hernandez led off the game with back to back singles off Mitch White and later came around to score. Before some fans were even in their seats, the Dodgers trailed 2-0.
How hot are the Oakland A’s this month? It only took one swing of the bat for them to outscore the Houston Astros tonight.
The A’s got a grand slam from Chad Pinder in the 3rd inning and never looked back, holding onto that lead for an eventual 5-3 victory at the Coliseum.
Oakland now has a 12-10 record in July, which is quite the turnaround after a 5-21 mark in June. Since the All-Star break last week, they’ve won five out of seven games on this homestand. Being swept by the Dodgers wasn’t great, but there were takeaways, nuggets, feel-goods that one could blindly apply to their sore and fretting psyche to make themselves okay with whatever is happening in the Giants baseball universe right now.
