I didn't even know that some folks can't do that. I just assumed everyone could.

I've never noticed that maybe I can do it. When I tense my lower jaw, like I'm trying to move the inside part of the jaw into my head, I hear a very low volume rumbling sound? It's not very loud at all so maybe it's not the same thing that's being described.

I don't need to tense my jaw to tense the tensor tympani. There is no outward indication that I'm tensing the tensor tympani. I can simply do it. I notice that I sometimes do it involuntarily in response to sudden, loud sounds.

Cleveland Guardians have put their ace closer on administrative leave. This is the second Guardian put on leave. Apparently, they are investigating pitchers colluding to pitch in specific ways in order to bet prop bets on sequence of pitches.

Bufford KOs Colorado Springs, Ballers Take Seventh Straight Series (Ballers tie Colorado Springs Sky Sox 5-5, Ballers win Home Run Derby 3-2)

https://www.oaklandballers.com/sports/bsb/2025/releases/2025072823i2kj

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Christian Hall defeated Cam Bufford in Thursday's knockout round victory for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Hall launched a triplet of homers, and Bufford bashed just one.

So, when Sunday's series finale ended in a 5-5 tie, both teams knew who to send to the plate. Colorado Springs rolled with Hall to defend his crown, and Oakland backed Bufford to get revenge.

How Sweep It Is! “B” Lineup Steps Up In 7-1 Thrashing

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2025/7/27/24475576/how-sweep-it-is-b-lineup-steps-up-in-7-1-thrashing-j-t-ginn-max-schuemann-miguel-andujar-luis-urias

Miguel Andujar leading off? First time in his career, so in his first ever lead off at bat Andujar HRed off of LHP Colton Gordon. It was just that kind of day.

Gunning, or should I say Ginning, for their first ever 4-game sweep in Houston the A’s not only put Andujar at 3B, Gio Urshela started at 1B as Nick Kurtz got a day off of being ungodly, Max Schuemann started at SS as Jacob Wilson rested his sore wrist for another day, Lawrence Butler manned CF for the injured Denzel Clarke, and Brent Rooker got a start in LF with Tyler Soderstrom on the bench against a lefty SP.

Ronnie Mauricio ruins Lou Seal’s special night in 5-3 Mets win

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2025/7/28/24475747/ronnie-mauricio-ruins-lou-seals-special-day-5-3-win-recaps-sf-giants

Before Sunday’s game, many San Francisco Giants fans were unaware that mascot Lou Seal owned formal wear. Or that his full name was Luigi Francisco Seal. Or that he had parents.

Many fans also believed that All-Star Randy Rodriguez was immune to the long ball, having yielded only one dinger in 43 appearances before Sunday’s game. But in the 7th inning, Rodriguez (3-2) gave up home runs to Ronnie Mauricio and Juan Soto that gave the New York Mets a lead they’d never give up in their 5-3 win.

TIL: Lou Seal is male and is apparently Italian-American.

The Giants' complete inability to hit with runners on base has reached comical levels. You'd expect a few more balls to fall in just based on pure chance, but nope!

Dodgers waste several chances, come up short in loss to Red Sox

https://www.truebluela.com/2025/7/27/24475506/dodgers-red-sox-walker-buehler-dustin-may-alex-bregman

Patience was required on Sunday in Boston, beginning with rain that delayed the start of the game by 41 minutes. Then the Dodgers chased old friend Walker Buehler in the fifth inning thanks in part to five walks. But the Red Sox scored three in the fifth inning to take the lead, sending the Dodgers to a thoroughly frustrating 4-3 loss on a Sunday at Fenway Park full of missed opportunities.

The Clintons were guests at Trump's last wedding in 2005, which would be 20 years ago. I've also seen a photo of Bill Clinton walking Chelsea down the aisle in 2010 and Ghislaine Maxwell (apparently) was prominently in the frame of that photo. Does that mean Epstein was invited? I don't know and I'm not going to research it.

The Phoenician Scheme (15/19 WB, theater). It's a fairly average Wes Anderson film, which means it's good. I was looking at the movies showing and was disheartened by summer fare of superhero, horror, kids films, and/or Pedro Pascal. I like Pedro, but good lord, he's in everything. It's full of absurdist, subtle cerebral jokes. It gets four points off for having Brian Cranston prominently featured as a Stanford alumnus in Furd gear.

If Cranston were prominently featured as a Harvard alum in Crimson gear, would that have changed the sore? Asking for a Wes Anderson fan.

BTW, the Phoenician Scheme is streaming on Peacock.

The Bear Season 4 (17/19 FX). I really enjoyed season 4. The wedding episode (episode 7) was really good. A little similar to the Christmas episode in Season 2 episode 6. Almost Everyone in one episode. I'm not sure when the Season 5 renewal was announced, but the season 4 finale could've been a Series finale.

"toe the line"

It's earliest usage was in the early 18th century British military terms where troops would muster and put the tips of their shoes on a line. In the British Navy, it was "toe the plank", same idea but on a specific wooden board.
