Following up from yesterday’s DBD AV Club....I wanted to see if Newellbany actually knew WTF he was talking about so I checked out Trainwreck: Woodstock ‘99 - I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time Newellbany completely blew smoke but in a stunningly rare instance of accuracy, HOLY schitt, the man was dead on... what a fecal fiesta! Man, a colossal failure on so many levels...sounded like a positively miserable 3 days. Yikes...
After a spectacular blast of thunderstorms evening before last, the NW on the west side is in the midst of the best run of weather possible, warm but not hot, and it will extend thru the weekend. Yet another hot streak of near or above 100 degree heat awaits next week though.
Our hot spell is broken. There was a nice breeze this morning and it's only in the upper 70s. Watching the news this morning, the ten-day forecast didn't have any days in the 90s.
our local supermarket chain has DIY scanners that apply "loyalty" discounts as you scan, but other than that, I can't think of a time in years that I've used a coupon.
The conveniently located, just-past-the-border fireworks shop in PA sent me some coupons at the beginning of summer. They ended saving me about $100 on a $200 haul. And now I have plenty of leftovers for next year.
The Yankees asked Mickey Mantle in 1972 to write down a story so they could celebrate the 50th anniversary of Yankee Stadium the next season. Mickey did not disappoint [written, but definitely NSFW].

DOJ to unseal warrant for the Mar-a-Lago raid. Merrick Garland held a press conference, which was totally unnecessary and anti-climatic. However, it was nice to see he wasn't taking any crap.
I don't know why anyone would want to become a teacher right now: terrible pay, overcrowded classrooms, meddling parents and politicians. It's no wonder there's a massive shortage.

7- 3 on dad's side, 4 on mother's side. At one point, 1) not one of my cousins lived in the same state in which they were born (my sister and I included) and 2) none of us lived in the same state. After 150+ yrs in the midwest, this generation flew the coop.
I have a limited pool of aunts/uncles to work with -
paternal aunt - never married, never had kids.
maternal uncle - married, had two sons.
I do not count first cousins on my step-father's side since they are not blood related to me EXCEPT through my half-sister. If you removed my half-sister, there would be no known blood relation.
“Cal is just very, very bleak”? We’ve beaten top-25 teams yearly with Wilcox’s defenses and could have a special season with only a marginal improvement on offense. Am I living in a sunshine pumping echo chamber, or is this podcast’s assessment overly pessimistic?
DBD AV Club
went to see Franz Ferdinand, not bad for a couple of old Scottish guys and some younger replacement musicians
They do any of their collaboration songs with Sparks?
I'm going with "no" because I recognized all but one of the songs, and this is the first I'm hearing of any collaboration with Sparks.
If it’s not Scottish it’s crap….

How does it compare to Fyre Fraud or Fyre?
Never saw but will check it out.
mark this moment down!
Started watching The Sandman last night (first episode), quite liked it. Like season two of Rez Dogs as well, parts are quite funny.

That was a rough 9-day heatwave. I think the worst of summer may finally be behind us.
on the plus side, the near daily storms this summer have achieved a happy balance of not flooding us out while keeping the garden looking good
When was the last time you used a coupon?
A paper coupon? two or so weeks ago at the grocery store, coupon for protein bars for lunches.
Do the random discounts on Amazon products count? If not I'd say new line at West Marine
Last week at Costco.
I pretty much refuse to buy things online unless I can find a 15% off offer somewhere on the Interwebs.
I always search for coupons and none of them usually work ;(
Ralphs constantly send me personalized coupon book that basically only contains only items that I buy, so I use very often.
Online version for oil change. I do it each time.
3 weeks ago, at Michael’s for the framing of a watercolor of Lake George by a friend of mine.
It's been awhile since I used a paper coupon, but I do use Safeway's digital coupons.

Eh, it was all bought by a fool, and mainly 90's stuff - happy to sell for cents per card.
I have a 12x12x12 box filled with late ‘80’s cards... I’ve pursed through for the valuable ones, which were rare. Trying to unload it as well...

Cal has to play a 12 game football season against teams that only start with the letter C. Who would you schedule them to play?
Clemson, Colorado, Colorado State, Connecticut, Central Florida, Central Michigan, Columbia, Cornell
I can't think of anymore Div 1 programs.
Coastal Carolina
Central Arkansas
Carlisle, Cal Tech, Central Connecticut, Central Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, Charleston, Chicago State, Columbia, Colorado, Colorado State, Cornell, Creighton
Citadel
You could drop in Coastal Carolina and Colgate, a couple of schools that actually have football teams, in place of some of those that don't.
What? And take away two sure wins? No thank you.
I was surprised Clemson wasn't mentioned. Although that would reduce the odds of running the table against that soft schedule.
I thought they dropped football.
I demand we play California (PA).

Cousins
7- 3 on dad's side, 4 on mother's side. At one point, 1) not one of my cousins lived in the same state in which they were born (my sister and I included) and 2) none of us lived in the same state. After 150+ yrs in the midwest, this generation flew the coop.

I'm surprised that CA is green and a big chunk of the south is red.
at first I thought that Green was Illegal and Red was Legal.
Same and same.
Kirk. Made a whole lot of money for not being an elite QB.
Kyle Shanahan probably has a Super Bowl W with Cousins.
Michigan State had quite a number of QBs in the NFL
Lobster food truck.

How many blood-related first cousins do you have?
My dad is 1 of 8 and my mom is 1 of 6, I have 16 blood related and 2 adopted.
I have six, all on my Mom's side. She's one of four, and three of them each had three kids. My Dad is an only child.
about 35.
my mom is one of 6, my dad is one of 10. almost everyone had 2-3 kids.
they are scattered all over the world w/ the largest concentration (4) being in Stockholm and a 5th in the far north of Sweden in Lulea.
Sixteen all on my father's side. Had eighteen but two are deceased. Three live in the States, four in Sweden and nine in Finland.
8
20 blood related. About a half dozen others that were adopted by an aunt or uncle.
9 cousins.
2 uncles and 3 aunts (2 aunts never married)
You don’t need to be married to have kids.
Like DCT, two.
I have a limited pool of aunts/uncles to work with -
paternal aunt - never married, never had kids.
maternal uncle - married, had two sons.

14. 9 on my mother's side and 5 on my father's (one of which is deceased).
two
I had six aunts & uncles who are fully blood related. All of them got married at least once. None had children.
A bunch, not sure how many. Plus many folks show up as relatives on 23andme.

If you’re a regular listener to the show, they are very down on Musgrave as a college OC, and yes you do live in a sunshine pumping echo chamber.
Yeah, I always thought hiring a Pro OC was a bad fit. Some of my friends disagreed.
If Wilcox loses one or both of Davis and UNLV it is time to hit the mid season eject button.
Davis is a top 25 program in one of the FCS preseason rankings.
At the 23:45 mark
