Given that Harris and Walz are at the top of the ticket and still in their early 60s, I do not feel that we're stuck with old fogeys. In fact, I can feel a significant shift and hope that this encourages younger Dems to get into politics and be involved.
For too long, I have felt that the Boomers and the generation before (the Silents) have held way too much sway in their adherence to maintaining the status quo. America needs leaders who will examine assumptions and make changes that are inclusive for groups that have been denied access for far too long and welcome participation that builds a stronger society.
America needs to push forward in living up to its ideals as stated in the Declaration of Independence, not the limited originalist view of the Constitution embodied by the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Jefferson had it right in 1776. It remains right today and will remain right forever more. I'd change only one thing - substitute "humans" for "men".

Once down 3-0, the game was tied when Heyward pinch-hit in the eighth inning with two on and two out. He took Andrés Muñoz deep for a three-run shot for the Dodgers first lead of the night.
That pitch was center of plate and up but not at the top of the zone. That pitch will get hit hard nearly every time. Munoz knew it the middle it was hit.

There is a person in the Bluetooth group that LOVES VBA. Writes huge analysis macros on VBA that can take 10+ min to run. We've offered to rewrite everything in python that can run in a fraction of the time but they won't let us.
in fact i often ask people in inteviews how they are at Excel. many of them answer w/o knowing the scale:
1-2 can add numbers in rows and columns
3-4 use vlookups and pivot tables
5-6 advanced Excel formulas and intelligent design
7-8 use VBA to automate things
9-10 use an external language to manipulate Excel w/o ever physically opening Excel
most people in finance end up in the 4-7 range. i have yet to meet anyone else 9+. i try not to tell people at work about being good at Excel. otherwise crappy work just ends up coming your way ..
i think it was talked about recently. this was a well done sequel depicting new emotions as Riley hits puberty and tries to make the hockey team and deal w/ teenage issues.
we saw it last night after purchasing from Amazon. it seems that it will be another month or so before it is streaming on Disney+ and figured that we dont have that many idle days left w/ our HS senior.
The ACC schedule hasn't come put yet. All the OOC game dates are known. I think UNC, Dook, and NC State are all there. Usually they would do 2 games over 3 or 4 days so I think that 2 of the 3 will be in 1 road trip. With my luck, one of UNC or Dook will be paired with NC State. But I'm definitely rooting for UNC and Dook.
Yesterday started move-in week, today continues it. Southside streets will be closed or partially closed to facilitate the efforts of students and parents.
I see in the linked article that Walnut Street is closed between University Ave and Berkeley Way on Tuesday *and* Sunday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. That's the west side of the new Helen Diller Anchor House which will house transfer students. 14 stories, 772 beds.
The timing is curious only because I think the article misquotes the dates of the closure. It should be Tuesday *through* Sunday. Why should that block of Walnut St be open to all traffic on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday? It makes no sense.
