In light of recent developments, and especially the impact of substantially increased travel and schedule variability, I have a serious question for those in the know about Cal. What is the state of Cal's Ecampus or Distance Learning offerings?
At Oregon State, for example, which has a strong ECampus program, and as a result of Covid, a beefed up remote learning capability, many students involved in activities that involve travel and other schedule demands already take a substantial number of classes remotely, especially in their most affected season, and lump those classes that don't lend themselves to remote instruction as much because of a hands-on component. into a term when they won't be on the road as much. It already was working very well. It seems remote classes are and need to be a big part of the solution to the new reality,
Leaving next Saturday for a 23 day behemoth which includes 5 days in Baltimore on the front end for work (including a Ravens game and an O's/Cardinals game), then London - Île-de-Ré - Lake Garda - London. Home on 10/2.
Now that I've crossed Fenway off my list, I think Camden is probably the only other place I would go out of my way to watch a game. And probably PNC if it were the same roadie.
I have to go to Budapest for work the week after the Auburn game.
I'll have all of the following Sat to see things before I fly back on Sun. The event ends at 6 each weeknight so we'll grab dinner somewhere and probably walk around some neighborhoods.
Any suggestions for things to see on Sat and food/restaurants to eat? I assume most things will be closed at 6 so other than walking around neighborhoods, I won't be able to really see anything during the week.
The number of games I can relatively easily attend (i.e. within a half-day drive or a short flight) has skyrocketed. I was hoping to join the Big Ten because Maryland is just down the road, but this is a nice consolation prize.
Me holding my son in an Hollywood costume made by my wife as the "leader" of the all the Monsters in "Where the Wild Things Are" - which is a great book he loved being read to him.
My kids are putting moss on my head during a break during a hike. It's is my linked in profile photo. I was wearing my Cal hat. The whole family knows it as the moss head picture.
ASU survives 24-21 FCS Southern Utah's comeback attempt. Dario Longhetto's 4th quarter FG was the difference. ASU Freshman QB Jayden Rashada had beat out injured Drew Pyne to start, the latter who beat Cal starting at Notre Dame last year. Transfer Melquan Stovall - brother of Melquise - had an important 33 yard catch. Sac State transfer Cameron Skattebo had 71 yards in grinding out a win, who had slightly more yards than backup DeCarlos Brooks.
ASU looked good right before halftime, and in the sand storm. The ~3 hour delay of the second half due to lightning prevented me from staying up to watch, and it sounds like the Devils didn't do so well after that.
Utah's defense strangles Florida on their way to a 24-11 victory at home. Florida was 1-13 on 3rd down and 2-5 on 4th down and only rushed for 13 yards. Backup QB Bryson Barnes threw a perfect 70 yard strike on the first play of the game, who started as Cam Rising is still recovering from a knee injury.
Well, that one looked like it might be reasonably competitive for a whopping 10 minutes. If Whittingham doesn't retire this year, he's going to make the Big 12 members' lives miserable.

I forget. is this like SBN where I don't need to refresh for new comments?
Fed! Yes you can leave the window up and search for "new repl" which will work for "1 new reply" or "X new replies." Unfortunately no more "z"ing

Great timing, as you'll miss the heat wave set to incinerate the mid-Atlantic region over the next several days.
Oh it’s just going to be in the upper 90s, like an early August remix 🥵
Hope you'll be able to keep posting here while you're on your journey!
Warming up for ACC travel schedule I see.
Camden Yards is a great place to see a game
This. It's even better this season because the fanbase has been rejuvenated by some top notch baseball.

The rebirth of the ACC to the GBWC!
Goes Both Ways Conference!
Also, Golden Bear Wild Conference!
Any port in a storm.
ACC sports (25) -
FALL sports (6) - X-Country, Field Hockey, Football, Soccer (M & W), Volleyball
WINTER sports (9) - Basketball (M & W), Fencing, Gymnastics, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field (Indoor), Wrestling
SPRING sports (11) - Baseball, Golf (M & W), Lacrosse (M & W), Rowing (W), Softball, Tennis (M & W), Track & Field (Outdoor)
ACC Conference members (through June 30, 2024) - Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami (FL), North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame (excl. football), Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, VA Tech, Wake Forest.
That's 14 in football, 15 in all other sports.
This is sooooooooooooooo insane.
Here are my proposed ACC sub-divisions:
Nerds: Cal, Stanfurd, GA Tech, Dook, UNC, UVA
Rednecks: VA Tech, Louisville, FSU, NC State, Clemson
Evil private schools: Miami, BC, SMU, BC, Wake Forest, Syracuse
Division for teams that rhyme with Shit: Pitt
Lump Pitt with your Rednecks division and move on. I'd ask what to do with ND, but we all know they will do what ever they want anyway.

He looked so damn cute in that & 1 year old.
Dig up that costume and read that book to your grandson now
He's got to get a lot bigger! Only 3 weeks old! (but he is very cute as well)
My kids are putting moss on my head during a break during a hike. It's is my linked in profile photo. I was wearing my Cal hat. The whole family knows it as the moss head picture.
There's a close up of me with my 6-month old baby on my shoulders and we are both genuinely grinning from ear to ear

LA Tech comes from behind to beat FIU 22-17. Both teams are from the bottom half of C-USA, which should be pretty awful this season.

IMHO, Whittingham is the best all-around coach in the league, and it's not close.
I've felt that way ever since Cal lost to Utah in the 2009 Poinsettia Bowl.
Nah, I thought Tedford wasn't as good as I thought..
Both things could be true.
Both things are true.
Well, that one looked like it might be reasonably competitive for a whopping 10 minutes. If Whittingham doesn't retire this year, he's going to make the Big 12 members' lives miserable.
As long as it’s not my team, I’m all for Utah walloping the opposition
CAL
paying down stadium debt!!!
Ugh. Not for the next 10 years, though. The 30% share for the first 7 and the shares in years 8 and 9 are less than the Pac-12 share is now.
Sponsored sports will be cut. No way Cal can sustain 30 sponsored sports with the financial picture as it will be starting July 1, 2024.
GO BEARS! 🐻
Go Bears!!! We've got the Axe and the ACC.
