In light of recent developments, and especially the impact of substantially increased travel and schedule variability, I have a serious question for those in the know about Cal. What is the state of Cal's Ecampus or Distance Learning offerings?

At Oregon State, for example, which has a strong ECampus program, and as a result of Covid, a beefed up remote learning capability, many students involved in activities that involve travel and other schedule demands already take a substantial number of classes remotely, especially in their most affected season, and lump those classes that don't lend themselves to remote instruction as much because of a hands-on component. into a term when they won't be on the road as much. It already was working very well. It seems remote classes are and need to be a big part of the solution to the new reality,

This. It's even better this season because the fanbase has been rejuvenated by some top notch baseball.

Now that I've crossed Fenway off my list, I think Camden is probably the only other place I would go out of my way to watch a game. And probably PNC if it were the same roadie.

I have to go to Budapest for work the week after the Auburn game.

I'll have all of the following Sat to see things before I fly back on Sun. The event ends at 6 each weeknight so we'll grab dinner somewhere and probably walk around some neighborhoods.

Any suggestions for things to see on Sat and food/restaurants to eat? I assume most things will be closed at 6 so other than walking around neighborhoods, I won't be able to really see anything during the week.

Here are my proposed ACC sub-divisions:

Nerds: Cal, Stanfurd, GA Tech, Dook, UNC, UVA

Rednecks: VA Tech, Louisville, FSU, NC State, Clemson

Evil private schools: Miami, BC, SMU, BC, Wake Forest, Syracuse

Division for teams that rhyme with Shit: Pitt

Expand full comment

Lump Pitt with your Rednecks division and move on. I'd ask what to do with ND, but we all know they will do what ever they want anyway.

LA Tech comes from behind to beat FIU 22-17. Both teams are from the bottom half of C-USA, which should be pretty awful this season.

ASU survives 24-21 FCS Southern Utah's comeback attempt. Dario Longhetto's 4th quarter FG was the difference. ASU Freshman QB Jayden Rashada had beat out injured Drew Pyne to start, the latter who beat Cal starting at Notre Dame last year. Transfer Melquan Stovall - brother of Melquise - had an important 33 yard catch. Sac State transfer Cameron Skattebo had 71 yards in grinding out a win, who had slightly more yards than backup DeCarlos Brooks.

Utah's defense strangles Florida on their way to a 24-11 victory at home. Florida was 1-13 on 3rd down and 2-5 on 4th down and only rushed for 13 yards. Backup QB Bryson Barnes threw a perfect 70 yard strike on the first play of the game, who started as Cam Rising is still recovering from a knee injury.

Ugh. Not for the next 10 years, though. The 30% share for the first 7 and the shares in years 8 and 9 are less than the Pac-12 share is now.

Sponsored sports will be cut. No way Cal can sustain 30 sponsored sports with the financial picture as it will be starting July 1, 2024.
