So, I was the Public Address announcer for Slug Basketball and Slug Women's Volleyball. I would also start pregame introductions by saying "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to THEEEEEEE SLUGDOME!"
This use of Slugdome was totally ironic because UCSC's West Fieldhouse is nobody's idea of a dome - it was smaller than my high school gym. But I got the name to kinda stick.
Fast forward more than a decade and I see that the volleyball tournament hosted at UCSC is called the "Slugdome Invitational." So somehow I managed to achieve naming rights for a major campus building without being a major donor. This is one of my greatest achievements.
Also men's and women's water polo is DIII I believe. Lots of club teams that will play any local school they can as well. I played about 3 months of lacrosse, but only before the formal season began.

Not a very exciting game but a nice couple hours sitting out in the late day sun. Georgetown men are ranked number one and I may try to check them out this weekend.
And I'm not much of a soccer fan so my expectations are not high. The highlight was when they had to temporarily suspend the game because the field is next to the hospital and a medivac helicopter came in to land just outside the fence.

NASCAR goes to Talladega this weekend for the 2nd race of the Round of 12 in the playoffs. Get ready for that 40 car field to diminish to about 18 by the time the race ends with this track being a demolition derby.

Home Depot hosted my kids elementary school and gave every kid a little orange apron. Very cute, but NONE of the kids wanted to wear them!
Back when my love slave and I were painting, she always used to wear a lab coat to avoid getting paint on her clothes.
