The guy who's record he broke is TJ Finley. TJ is on his fourth team in five years and lost the starting roles at LSU in 2020, lost the starting role at Auburn in 2022, did well enough in 2023 at Texas State that he thought he could go to a better school, and lost the starting role at Western Kentucky two games into this season for a sophomore. He will turn 23 in March and still has another year of eligibility, so he can totally transfer again if he wishes.
There are some things to really like about the college football season so far, exempli gratia Furd, U$C and UCLA are a combined 6-11. Also UW is only 4-3 and just got pummeled by Iowa. Good ole schadenfreude.

LOS ANGELES — Jack Flaherty pitched the game of his life and just about everything went right for the Dodgers in their 9-0 romp over the Mets Sunday night in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium.
By the way, I'm kind of impressed that this game got an ESPN2 slot anyway, despite being passed over for the late window and with both teams losing last week. The SMU-Duke game should be considered "better," just based on the team records, but that went to ACC Network.
ESPN must see some kind of ratings benefit in Cal to pick our game over that, something we never saw in the Pac-12. They are sending a message to the program: get it together, and we'll make you a premier team for our network.
Neighbors can complain all they want, but tv network executives don't care. Only if you are Michigan or Ohio State can you dictate terms on scheduling.
I still can't believe California's penultimate possession on Saturday. Drove nicely down field but upon getting near their 20 Wilcox decided to settle for a field goal attempt (one that missed) running the ball three times. Even if he'd connected Pitt would have had plenty of time for a field goal of their own. The thing to do was continue the momentum and perhaps get a touchdown with little time remaining or at least be in position for a shorter, easier field goal. The coaching was abysmal -- again.
Truly the most inexplicable decision of the Wilcox era. I couldn't believe what I was watching. And taking Mendoza off the field for 3rd down when his 3rd down completions (plus a pass that forced PI) were the reason we even got into field goal range! I've never seen a clearer example of "coaching scared."
That and the early 2-point attempt are just two of the in-game decisions that make me wonder about Wilcox's decision-making process. What the hell is going on?
Only Murders in the Building (S4 E6-7). Honestly, some of the funniest writing I've seen in a while. There a ton of film-making jokes in these episodes and it looks like the cast is having a blast making these episodes. It's honestly the only thing that I've seen Melissa McCarthy where she's good. Kumail Nanjani had my favorite joke of the show when explained why his part got cut from a film. And it's interesting how Kumail also got buff for Marvel's "Eternals" in 2021 and has become the modern Pakistani-American version of Joe Piscopo where his fitness is written into all of his roles.
Saw the new film, Saturday Night yesterday about the night of the first episode of SNL. Highly entertaining with a lot of relative unknowns ably playing iconic stars. Jason Reitman is a good director. Here his pacing was excellent. Never a dull moment.

The Wrong Trousers is truly a masterpiece of filmmaking. Not just for animated shorts, by any standard.
I had totally forgotten about these shorts. They were so good.
Indeed. Those were rainy day lunchtime entertainment at a certain Berkeley elementary school when my sons were there.
There is a connection with the other grouping I posted.

It depends on what you define as "in the area". If you're talking about Brentwood, then I get it. The Santa Monica Pier, on the other hand...
Looks like he’s a lecturer rather than tenure-track faculty, which explains (but does not excuse) the low pay.
i get paid excessively low as a Cal lecturer. luckily it is not my full time job
I applied to be a Cal lecturer but never got an offer. So my pay is nothing. Good thing I'm retired.

Surprised this isn't a PACC After Dark game! I was sure this was going to be in the 7:30pm slot.
I guess they might be putting Colorado in that slot instead.
Is Cal limited to one night game per year? Already had Miami.
I wish.
There are no limits on that. Also, we had Miami and SDSU in the late slot.
I remember the neighbors making a stink in the past but didn’t know if they got any kind of limitations.
Actually, PHA does have an annual limit on night events, although I'm not certain what it is.
I think they got limits on other kinds of events, but not football games. Those can happen at any time.

That last drive was like the entire 4th quarter vs. Miami.
Our offense takes foot off the pedal and stops trying to score.
