Colorado’s mascot is the buffalo. After losing, I think it is appropriate to be pedantic and point out that Colorado’s mascot is a bison, which is not a true buffalo. Buffalo = the Bubalina sub-tribe, which includes the genus for Cape Buffalo, water buffalo, and some dwarf buffaloes. Bison are part of the Bovina sub-tribe, which also includes cows. So, suck it CU, you’re cow-adjacent, not buffaloes.
One of the faves that my wife makes (generally only when it's fall etc...) a Black bean and chorizo soup - last night, but had to make the chorizo on Saturday to make it super tasty. definitely more spicy than usual, 'cause of different red peppers this time, you have it with some avocados cubes and graded cotija cheese for the top, some corn chips as snacks to deal with the heat, and some great red wine (for other people, sniff) to have with it.

Abbott's Frozen Custard doesn't exactly claim their founder "invented" frozen custard in their origin story, but it is implied.
Whenever our cousins would come to visit, they would always want to make Abbott's their first stop in spite of the fact that they are all allergic to dairy.
In Ozark, Jacob Snell tells someone to calm down after murdering someone in cold blood. "Right now, you go home, relax, maybe get yourself a frozen custard."
Osage Beach has two famous frozen custard places - Randy's and Andy's. They have VERY similar signs and I'd bet there's a dispute somewhere in their history. We have an Andy's right near our house. It's aight.
Culver's is known for frozen custard. Frozen Custard is definitely a thing in the midwest. Not exactly sure how it's different from FroGurt/FroYo (choose the term from your region). Maybe more or actually has real milk? Not sure.

Tennessee beats Alabama in a hum dinger 52-49. Alabama also had 17 penalties for 130 yards and is now ranked dead last (#131) in the FBS penalty yards.
Air Force's run happy offense has only completed 24 passes all season long. That being said, their leading receiver has 3 TDs (same as Cal's leading WR) and only trail Cal as a team in receiving TDs by 3.
USC's Caleb Williams chucked 5 TDs, 381 yards, no INTS. USC had no turnovers, was +1 on turnovers, punted only twice. They still lost to Utah 43-42 in an entertaining game as the Utes go for 2 with less than a minute to go.
it certainly kept my attention for the full 60 minutes of playing time. Some atrocious refereeing but I maintain that if your team loses by 1 in the final minute of the game, it's not really the (bad) officiating you need to worry about. Anyway, Utah's always a risk especially when you have an iffy defense, interested to see what the back end of the season brings.
Unless the bad officiating happened in the final minute, and caused the change in outcome. But that wasn't the case here. Even though there were officiating issues in that last minute.
Utah always gets fired up for USC, and at Rice-Eccles is a different animal for anyone to deal with.
It really was a masterful performance of Pac12 refereeing. If that bungling of the clock in the last minute had resulted in Utah losing, they'd have been absolutely justified in being upset.

When Inside the NBA was at the Warriors playoff games, No 2 and I went and sat in the raised seats in front of the set. After they were done, No 2 had one of the 2K16 game cases that EJ, Kenny, and Shaq announced. He got EJ to stop over and sign the case.
The 49ers looked like a team missing its starting offensive tackles, cornerbacks, three defensive linemen, safety, running back, and linebacker. We know this team was banged up coming into today, but it looked like a preseason game at times.
Atlanta scored on its opening drive after marching 11 plays for 74 yards. They went up two scores after Jeff Wilson fumbled trying to reach the ball for a first down. That’s a no-no, and he paid for it.
San Francisco ended up punting the ball, and they did on their following possession. The Falcons didn’t struggle to move the ball as they scored on nine plays in just over five minutes to take a two-possession lead.
Always fun to see that though the Dodgers can and have amassed enough talent that they can Dave Roberts-proof the lineup in the longhaul of the regular season, his tinkering with the lineup and misanagement of the greatest assemblage of pitching in the history of the game will fail at some point when forced to play teams capable of competing without having nearly 40 games against the Dbacks and Rockies to fall back on.

SAN FRANCISCO – Cal's Yuta Kikuchi capped an excellent run in the annual KPSF Open with an appearance in the final on Sunday at the Goldman Tennis Center, with the Golden Bear falling to pro player Govind Nanda. The Golden Bears had a strong showing overall in the outdoor 40K tournament, with six current Cal men's tennis players – Kikuchi, Alex Chang, John Kim, Lucas Magnaudet, Carl Emil Overbeck and Mikey Wright – along with alumnus Sean Hill competing in Golden Gate Park.
Chang, Kikuchi and Magnaudet along with Hill won in the opening round of 32 on Oct. 12, and then Hill and Kikuchi – who defeated Chang, 6-4, 6-3 – advanced out of the round of 16 on Oct. 13.
TUCSON, ARIZ. – California volleyball (7-11, 0-8 Pac-12) closed out the weekend in a midday matchup against Arizona (12-7, 2-6 Pac-12) on Saturday, hoping to notch its first conference win of the season against a team that had lost four straight games. Just like many other Golden Bear matches of late, however, this particular one was characterized by a rough first set and two subsequent highly competitive sets that only just fell outside of Cal's reach. With the help of Wildcat senior Zyonna Fellows' career-high 12 blocks, Arizona was able to stop their skid and defeat the Bears, 3-0.
STANFORD, Calif. – The Golden Bears continued their march through the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Saturday at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium, with three members of the Cal women's tennis team advancing to the singles quarterfinals and three Cal doubles teams moving into the round of 16.
Cal's three pairs swept through the doubles round of 32. The second-seeded Jessica Alsola and Katja Wiersholm defeated Washington State's Eva Alvarez Sande and Yang Lee, 8-4, the fourth-seeded and 57th-ranked Valentina Ivanov and Hannah Viller Moeller beat Cal Poly's Eliza Bates and Kennedy Buntrock, 8-1, and Erin Richardson and Makenna Thiel bested Gonzaga's Tiegan Aitken and Kianna Oda, 8-3. All three Cal duos next play at 10 a.m. in Sunday's round of 16.
STANFORD, Calif. – Two Cal women's tennis doubles teams advanced to the Monday semifinals after winning twice each on Sunday in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at the Taube Family Tennis Center.
Cal's Erin Richardson and Makenna Thiel posted a big win in the round of 16, upsetting the top-seeded and 12th-ranked Angelica Blake and Connie Ma, 8-6. The two Golden Bears then advanced to Monday with an 8-3 victory over Washington's eighth-seeded Sarah-Maude Fortin and Astrid Olsen in the quarterfinals.
The Bears' second-seeded Jessica Alsola and Katja Wiersholm defeated Orgon's Jo-Yee Chan and Lillian Mould, 8-3, in the round of 16, before beating the Cardinal's Valencia Xu and Sara Choy, 8-4, in the quarters.
BERKELEY – Sophomore Max Casabella scored four goals – including a pivotal score on a penalty shot with less than two minutes to play – and the No. 2 Cal men's water polo team held off No. 5 USC 14-10 on Saturday afternoon in its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener at a raucous Spieker Aquatics Complex.
Casabella's final goal gave the Bears (14-1, 1-0) a 12-10 lead with 1:40 to go after the Trojans had cut a three-goal deficit to one. Cal goalie Adrian Weinberg then came up with a key save on USC's ensuing possession, and a goal by senior Marko Valecic put the game out of reach for the Bears.
Fifth-year senior Jack Deely registered three goals and three assists while sophomore Roberto Valera had three goals and two assists.
BERKELEY - The California men's soccer team held a 1-1 tie with visiting San Francisco at halftime of their Saturday game at Edwards Stadium, but the Dons added four more in the second half, and the Golden Bears fell, 5-1.
Cal's record stands at 3-5-4. USF has a 7-3-2 record.
"It's embarrassing to lose that way at home," said Cal head coach Leonard Griffin, coaching against USF for the first time since leaving his head coaching post with the Dons in 2021. "We have to take a hard look at ourselves in the mirror and try to figure out what are the next steps moving forward. There are still a lot of games to be played and a lot of games in conference. We have to pick the group back up and try to make progress."
PULLMAN, Wash. – Junior Isabelle Stadden set a pool record in the 100-yard backstroke and senior Eloise Riley was a four-time winner as the Cal women's swimming & diving team defeated Washington State 167-94 in a Pac-12 dual meet at Gibb Pool on Saturday morning.
Stadden, who won the bronze medal in the 100 back at the Phillips 66 National Championships last summer, finished the race in 53.90 – eclipsing the previous Gibb Pool record of 54.37 set last year by Utah's Ema Broome. She also helped the Bears set another pool record in the 400 freestyle relay as she teamed up with Riley, McKenna Stone and Ayla Spitz for a time of 3:21.92. That mark shattered the previous record 3:24.33 set by Utah last season.
Not only did Riley also swim the anchor leg on Cal's winning 200 medley relay team that finished in a time of 1:41.59, she claimed victories in the 50 free (23.55) and 100 free (50.53). Riley also won the 100 free during the Bears' dual meet victory over Utah on Wednesday.
SUNNYVALE – California cross country returned to competition on Saturday morning at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara. The women's squad took home 13th place overall, while the men's team took 15th.
Claire Yerby headlined the Bears' showing with her stellar performance in the women's 6,000-meter race. Yerby took 33rd place overall with her personal best time of 20:58, the mark being her fastest run by nearly two minutes.
"I felt great today, and knowing my teammates were out there with me really helped me keep pushing when it got tough," Yerby said.
On the men's side, Garrett MacQuiddy was the top Cal-finisher for the second-straight meet. MacQuiddy took 53rd place overall and crossed the line in 24:34.1
i know this guy. he is the son of someone HAG and i went to HS with.

I had purchased some ground bison at the butcher to make bison burgers if Cal won. Instead we failed to show up.
Such a bad game I want to forget it ever happened.
