I recently re-watched it. Way outdated for sure. A remake would be bizarre if I time traveled with a new one on some sort of media to show it to people back then....whaaa? omg what has gone wrong with the country?
Shows like Leave it to Beaver, Ozzie and Harriet and Father Knows Best would be too vapid for audiences today. Three's Company has too many homophobic tropes. Hogan's Heroes wouldn't fly. People don't want bumbling but lovable Nazis.
LOS ANGELES — After needing to get only three runs in the first two games of the National League Championship Series, the Dodgers bullpen was fully activated for Game 3. Four Los Angeles relievers got the final 10 outs, making a two-run sixth inning hold up in a 3-1 win over the Brewers on Thursday afternoon at Dodger Stadium.
Bullpen threw better. Though there were a couple of middle/middle misses that the Brewers just missed. I think some of the bullpen issues were overuse starting sine before the middle of the season due to injuries and ineffective replacement starters and the numerous bullpen games required. Now that they've had 1+ weeks of rest, they're showing command (more or less) again.
The Mariners and Blue Jays entered tonight’s game at a crossroads. With the Mariners up 2-1 in the American League Championship Series, they had the opportunity to seize a 3-1 lead that would almost certainly ensure the franchise’s first ever pennant. A loss, and the series would be tied 2-2 and, at the very least, be guaranteed to return to Toronto.
BERKELEY – Down two sets to none at Haas Pavilion, the California volleyball team faced its fifth-straight defeat and its fourth-straight loss at home – but there was magic in the air on Thursday night as the Golden Bears (6-11, 3-4 ACC) righted themselves against No. 14 Miami and pulled out a dramatic five-set victory (16-25, 14-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-12) over the Hurricanes, who dropped to 15-3 (5-2) on the season.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The California women's soccer team earned its second straight win Thursday night defeating Miami on the road 2-0 at Cobb Stadium in the first meeting between the two teams. Senior Lumi Kostmayer recorded a goal and an assist and senior Coco Thistle assisted on both goals.
STOCKTON - California men's tennis freshman Winston Lee won in singles qualifying Thursday to advance to the main draw of the ITA Northwest Regional Championship at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
Lee was the top seed in the singles qualifying draw, which gained him a bye in the first round. Lee defeated Sebastian Vlahos of Sacramento State 6-2, 6-1 to qualify for the main draw.
After a successful 10-year NFL playing career for the Indianapolis Colts that included three Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl championship in 2007, it might not seem like a likely story that Tarik Glenn returned to Cal to assimilate back into campus for a middle management job.
But Glenn wasn't – and still isn't – your typical former decorated professional athlete.
Met Tarik Glenn at the Meet an Greet with Ron Rivera and Coach Wilcox in NYC when I was visiting HSB back in May. He was invited and I happened to be in town so he invited me along. Tarik is a pretty cool guy. Huge guy.
The San Francisco Bay Area's premier sports radio station, KNBR 680 AM and 104.5 FM, will take up residence in California Memorial Stadium on Friday, to produce a full slate of regular programming before airing a special broadcast of the California football game against North Carolina at 7:30 p.m. PT.
Listening to the Audible podcast this morning. Stewart Mandel is coming (no doubt there now) to cover it, of course due to HC Bill B. Stew said this is his first in person game this year to cover. Stars are aligning for Cal face plant though I would not bet on it.
California cross country is set for its final meet of the season at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara on Saturday. The Golden Bears will travel to the Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, with the men lining up at 8:45 a.m. PT, followed by the women's race at 9:30 a.m. PT.
Yeah, during the summer the farmer I go to at the farmers market has a mild and spicy greens mix and then I get some radishes, cucumber, sweet peppers, red onion, and early girl tomatoes to go with it. Don’t want any dressing to get in the way of the natural flavors.
"on the side" gets me. It will always remind me of a particular scene in When Harry Met Sally. Actually, not the diner scene. The scene where the camera pulls back while Sally is ordering and you see the non-verbal between Harry and the waiter.
What's a movie or tv series that can't be made today?
30 Rock.
It wasn't made too long ago, but if you watch it now, there are tons of scenes where you say "you can't say that"
The West Wing.
The West Wing still has a following through streaming and DVDs.
The Candidate. Maybe someone could do a remake someday. It would be quite different.
Yes, it would be quite different today. 1972 seems so naive and trusting by comparison.
I recently re-watched it. Way outdated for sure. A remake would be bizarre if I time traveled with a new one on some sort of media to show it to people back then....whaaa? omg what has gone wrong with the country?
M*A*S*H (the movie version)
only woke people say that. make whatever you want and call it art or free speech or something else.
Star Trek (TOS).
The writing would be too controversial in many ways.
true. but as rerurns go, they are as good as ever!
been making my way thru DS9 currently. i realize that i didnt watch it all that consistently and so there are a lot of gaps.
Shows like Leave it to Beaver, Ozzie and Harriet and Father Knows Best would be too vapid for audiences today. Three's Company has too many homophobic tropes. Hogan's Heroes wouldn't fly. People don't want bumbling but lovable Nazis.
Au contraire. The timing seems ripe for vapid, homophobic, bumbling/loveable nazis.
Sadly, you may be right. Trumpy, after all, is trying to turn back the clock.

Mariners squander their early lead in the ACLS; it’s now tied 2-2 with Toronto. Dodgers nearing a sweep of the Brewers.

Long overdue HOF recognition in my view. “Flying around out there”. Good times relatively speaking.

Go Bears!!!
WAKE UP! IT'S GAMEDAY, MOTHEROSKI'S. SO FIRE IT UP!
DRESSING
Caesar or Blue Cheese for salads. The other one I do like is a Vidalia Onion dressing with Spinach, feta, dried cranberries, almonds.
Also pizza dipped in Ranch.
I like to eat green salad without any dressing.

i like a classic Caesar salad w/ classic Caesar dressing. many places dont include anchoives these days
I was shocked to open my fridge and see some Italian…
Gina Lola-refridge-adolla? No doubt parts would stand out.
A local gastropub makes a zesty lemon dressing that I cannot quit. It must have sugar in it.
