while i am not a big user/fan of R, i did rather like Shiny when it first came out. was a fun and nice way to get data/analysis that you did in a technical language deployed on a website w/o a lot of fuss and web design.
Finished See on ATV+. A good series that kinda got panned with ATV+ first came out (and See was one of only like five shows on it).
First couple of S3 eps I was feeling that there were too many things about the kingdoms and people that I needed to remember from S2. But then it became clearer/more simplified/I started remembering stuff. I thought that they did a good job with the ending. And possibly opened it up for a spinoff?
Finally got around to watching White Lotus. Great all around, sometimes very hard to watch because of how cringy the characters were acting. Beautiful shots and music throughout. Was an odd series to watch right before heading to Maui on Friday. 17/19
Ep 9 of House of Dragon was IMHO the best of the series so far and moved me back to interested watching from passively watching where the last couple episodes had me.
I guess theoretically Rhaenyra is the sympathetic one, but it's been a bit tough to get fully on her side with the time jumps and changing actresses and all. Maybe Rhaenys too?
I think the larger problem (though I like the show) is that the first season is clearly table-setting. They're not telling a complete story like Season 1 of GoT did.
Totally agree sy. In casting the striking-looking Milly Alcock to play the younger Rhaenyra, they definitely left themselves with an uphill battle to make the older actresss match in any way. Not surprisingly, it’s a stretch…Milly looks a little like the feral boy with the boomerang blade in the Road Warrior!! ;-)
Maybe subconsciously I’m just down on prequels - tough for me to get excited about a storyline when I know what ends up happening.
Saw Gorillaz in concert last night. Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) is a very charismatic, engaging performer. It was a solid setlist spanning their 20+ year catalog (the missus and I lamented that it has indeed been over 20 years since their first album). They had some great guest performers (a must for a group with such an extensive list of collaborators): Bootie Brown, Del the Funky Homosapien, De La Soul, and a few others. Visuals and background videos during performances were top notch. 19/19
I only wash the car when it is raining. I'll go out and scrub it down and let the rain rinse it up. I refuse to use a precious resource to clean a car!! Absurd. The interior is clean cuz I rarely drive the car (150 miles per annum on average) preferring to walk or bicycle.
Exterior will range from 12-18, when it gets too bad I'll hit up the drive thru wash and get it detailed maybe once per year and I'll hand wax maybe once per year. Interior used to be in the 16+ range, but has fallen off since I've been taking my elderly dog to a park for her daily walk. Now the back seat is covered in her needle like short hair that is hard to vacuum up. Probably 14 front seats, 8 for the back, but I do try to keep trash at a minimum at all times.
inside is 17+ compared to most people's standards.
outside varies depending on the season since we live in the northeast.
when my older daughter is around it is 19 on both because she doesnt let anyone (even friends) eat in the car and she washes it herself every few weeks.
there is usually a good supply of full water bottles in the back of HAGs car i have noticed on last couple trips. if not he goes somewhere and stock up!
plastic disposable bottles. This was way back in the late 00s/early 10s when the boys played baseball. Easier to just transport lots of water bottles to the ballfields.
Usually 17-18 for interior/exterior. It's garaged and usually only gets driven 2-3 times per week, so it tends to stay clean. I used to wash it every 2 weeks or so and wax/detail before and after winter. Ever since covid and perpetual work-from-home, I only wash it when it gets dirty from rain/pollen/dust, so maybe once every 4-8 weeks.
Interior: no trash, some random coffee stains, often dusty. Interior windows clean.
Exterior: I have owned this car for nearly 6 years and have never washed it. Living in a place with regular torrential rain and parking outside keeps things clean enough.
Miata, clean inside and outside, parked in garage.
TSX, parked outside so very dirty outside and not necessarily dirty, but dust in crevices. Also recently found lots of ants in the car so I got some of the gel borax and finally got them to eat themselves to death.
NY Gov. Kathy Holchul points to texts from her challenger - Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY1) - of him feeding plans to Mark Meadows as to how to discredit the 2020 election before it happened. Dirty traitor.
A Michigan lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make supporting your trans-child a crime punishable by life in jail, the second one tabled after another by Marjorie Taylor Green. Do you know what should also be a crime? Imprisoning minority groups based upon your selective interpretation of the Bible. ALSO, THE UNITED STATES IS NOT A CHRISTIAN THEOCRACY. Also, Christian Nationalists - or Nationalist Christians ("Nat-Cs" for short) should go stone each other for wearing mixed fibers.
I think a lot of people are in for a rude shock when their breezy dismissal of democracy being under threat proves to be wrong. Just because you're not in an out-group now doesn't mean you won't be in the future.
Francona and Cleveland deserve to lose, rolling with a guy in Aaron Civale (5-6, ERA of nearly 5.0) that hasn’t thrown a meaningful pitch in almost 2 weeks in the biggest game of the season instead of their horse and former Cy Young award winner on 3-days rest.
Civale immediately walks Gleyber on 4 pitches, K’s Judge before hitting Rizzo and then giving up a Stanton blast. Ball…game.
Chargers really lacking in team speed, at least in the WR departmen….they could definitely use a burner, tho getting Keenan back should help open things up downfield at least. Denver seemingly has more speed with KJ Hamler and Jeudy…yet no one could create any separation on routes. As such, it was a rather unenthusiastic watch…
Good idea to grab that domain name, And based on current events and trends, you can probably recoup any costs when you sell it to an affected high school fan base in about 5 years.
Cal football trivia fun fact. Sponsored by Larry Blake’s.
In his first eight seasons as head coach (2002-2009), Jeff Tedford’s Bears boasted winning conference records five times, a losing record only once (2007) while twice finishing at .500 (2002 and 2005). The Bears have not had a winning conference record since.

Coconut
Yuck. Don't like anything with coconut in it, except for Body Armor. I didn't realize it was made with coconut water.
Coconut shrimp
I really enjoy it.
You put de lime in de
...and drink it all up.
I mostly follow this recipe, except:
-I don't use equal parts dairy milk and coconut milk; instead, I use a full can of coconut milk and make up the rest of the volume with dairy milk
-I paint the crust with melted bittersweet chocolate before filling
-I use bittersweet chocolate curls instead of white chocolate
-I use half the amount of whipped cream
https://smittenkitchen.com/2018/04/triple-coconut-cream-pie/
FATE! NOT CHOCOLATE AT ALL!
Take the best stuff out of chocolate, and you're left with white stuff that might be good for your skin, but is not worth eating.
Agreed
Good taste, terrible texture
Milk: delightful for curries.
Otherwise, my annual helping of macaroons for Passover is about as much coconut as I need in my life.

I’m pretty lukewarm on it, tho will watch the final episode.
I find the program incredibly light on likable and interesting characters - they’re all somewhat lacking in terms of redeeming qualities.
GoT at least had the Starks, Samwell Tarly, Khalisi and Tyrion….who the hell do you even root for here?
I agree, watching this show, hardly loving it, it's ok, and who do you care about?
I guess theoretically Rhaenyra is the sympathetic one, but it's been a bit tough to get fully on her side with the time jumps and changing actresses and all. Maybe Rhaenys too?

I’m pumped for Jon Snow tho!!
Oh yeah, he seems pretty cool.
True…more screen time and character development for the one kingsguard guy with the beard, please!!
;-)
White Lotus is so good.
Agree about Ep 9 - better.
Watched the 2nd episode of Severance (Apple TV) and all of a sudden LOVE it! Crazy show, but in the right way!
I thought it took 3 eps, but yeah...gets really good! shoulda won the Emmy (altho, tbf, I prob hadn't seen the other shows up for it)
Severance is so good.
Oh dude, Severance is so awesome! Def takes like an ep to get into
Finished Bad Sisters and enjoyed it…recommended viewing on Apple TV.
have two eps left...will try to watch tonight

Around 11 outside, 18 inside.
Probably 18 inside, 14 outside, need to get it cleaned (I don't do it myself anymore)
Well, I have kids. So front seat might be a 15 and the back seat might be a 3.
When I take a car seat out it is a fucking horror show
My old car used to be full of crushed empty water bottles all over the floor, especially during the hot and humid baseball season.
there is usually a good supply of full water bottles in the back of HAGs car i have noticed on last couple trips. if not he goes somewhere and stock up!
plastic bottles or reusable bottles. if the former, why??
plastic disposable bottles. This was way back in the late 00s/early 10s when the boys played baseball. Easier to just transport lots of water bottles to the ballfields.
Remember when Uber drivers would give you water and snacks?
I was ahead of the times.
gotta stay hydrated!

I miss using a garage, we have so much dust and pollen in our canyon that the car only stays freshly washed for a day or two.

It was fun (for Cal fans) during the mid 20-oughts..
