Chances are rising that I am leaving for Paris, not Portugal. Portugal changed their laws, making my Golden Visa investment not a great choice. It looks like there is a greater than 50% chance that I'll be in Paris in 2026 or 2027. In the meanwhile, I'll probably double down on culinary school, quit my job, and then get another job cooking. HAG and HSG - I will also speak to you about handoff of DBD administration as I will be too busy to do this, probably.

Paris sounds nice. i am in full support of this move (aside from the fact that we'll miss you on DBB logistics duty)

Paris definitely would be cool. No 1 will probably be taking trips there for reseach over the next couple of years so I'll probably try to go at some point while he's there. I have an aunt that also lives there along with her kids.

Young Warriors lead team to big win over Grizzlies

https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/warriors-scores-results/104328/young-warriors-lead-team-to-big-win-over-grizzlies

Maybe the two timelines of the Golden State Warriors just needed more time to converge. On Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies, 22-year-old Brandin Podziemski and 23-year-olds Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody combined for 68 points in a 131-118 win.

FREDDIE F'IN FREEMAN!

Freddie Freeman walk-off home run give Dodgers another 18-inning World Series win

https://www.truebluela.com/dodgers-scores-standings/106643/dodgers-freddie-freeman-home-run-will-klein-world-series

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers made multiple outs on the bases, several errors and misplays in the field, and couldn’t get five innings from their starting pitcher, a rarity this postseason, in a game that needed a combined 44 players and 18 innings to decide. After six hours and 49 minutes and several close calls, Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run to beat the Blue Jays 6-5 in Game 3 of the World Series.

Being on the east coast I only made it through nine. I thought about crashing on the sofa with the game on. Glad I didn’t or I would have been up way too late.

If I was in the Eastern Time Zone, I wouldn't have gotten out of the 4th inning. I'm fortunate to live in the Pacific Time Zone when it comes to events like the World Series.

No 1 and No 2 both are in the Eastern time zone and stayed up. I think No 1 called in sick. No 2 had a morning call and had stuff to do so I think he just slept for some number of hours.

I went to bed in the middle of the 12th. I though pinch-running for Kirk was a terrible mistake.

Expand full comment
sycasey's avatar

Yeah, the Jays were way too aggressive about subbing out guys for pinch runners in a tie game and it came back to bite them. For extra innings they had a lineup with some very obvious holes that the Dodgers pitchers could attack, easily avoiding the good hitters.

Jacuzzi brothers’ whirlpool invention bubbled up from their Berkeley machine shop in early 1900s

The bath that started the hot tub craze was created in a shop opened on San Pablo Avenue in 1915 by a family of Italian immigrants.

https://www.berkeleyside.org/2023/09/04/jacuzzi-brothers-berkeley-hot-tub-whirlpool-bath

Because of its immense popularity during the 1970s and ’80s, the name Jacuzzi stood for hot tubs the way the Kleenex meant tissues. In fact, the word “jacuzzi” has become so synonymous with hot tubs, it has become an entry in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Turns out the iconic whirlpool bath was created in the Jacuzzi brothers’ machine shop at 1450 San Pablo Ave., established in 1915. The family has a long history in Berkeley, where many family members have lived over the years.

Originally from Casarsa, Italy, the Jacuzzi family relocated to the U.S. beginning in 1907 and ending in 1920. Jacuzzi Brothers Incorporated — made up of the seven Jacuzzi brothers, all mechanical engineers — started out in aviation, creating a lightweight propeller that was instrumental in World War I American aircraft, and America’s first monoplane with an enclosed cabin in 1921. When one of the brothers, 26-year-old Giocondo, died in a test of the monoplane in 1921, the family’s matriarch put an end to such pursuits, fearing another loss of life.

Jacuzzi Street in Richmond - runs from Central Ave at the interchange with I-80 (northern terminus) to its south terminus at the border with Albany. Jacuzzi Street meets the northern terminus of Cleveland Street. Same roadway, different street names once you change cities/ municipal jurisdictions.
