Warriors fell for another trap game vs Giannis-less Bucks

https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/warriors-analysis/104583/warriors-fell-for-another-trap-game-vs-giannis-less-bucks

Look, I’ve been covering the Warriors for eight years, and at this point, I should probably just accept that this team operates on a different plane of basketball logic than the rest of us mortals.

They opened the season by dropping 119 on the Lakers. Beat them straight up. Then they went into overtime with the Nuggets and survived with 137 points. Dismantled Memphis 131-118. These aren’t scrubs. These are Western Conference playoff teams with championship aspirations. The Warriors looked at legitimate competition and said, “Yeah, we got this.”

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

maybe there has been a slow decline in the Ws defense over the years. yesterday it seemed that the Bucks outside shooters were wide open much of the game.

once upon a time w/ Steph and Klay, they took the league sort of by surprise. now it seems that most decent plays can consistently hit 3s, or at least that is all they try.

heyalumnigo's avatar

They seemed to shutdown the Clipper 3 nights ago. But maybe because it was the Clippers. Seemed a step slow and ex-Warriors Ryan Rollins absolutely torched them. Ryan Rollins of the CP3 trade.

sycasey's avatar

There's also just some variance involved. You can't literally cover everybody, not if the offense is willing to pass the ball. So you choose who you might leave open at the end, and on some nights they happen to hit all of their shots. That's kind of what happened in this game.

Tonight: Jays try to win the World Series tonight at home (8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific). Yamamoto tries to follow up his sparkling Game 2 gem.

heyalumnigo's avatar

While I'm hoping to leave the Cal/UVa game early so I can find somewhere to watch game 7, I'm fully expecting that while Yama can hold them to 1 or 2 runs, I don't have any confidence that anyone on the Dodgers can hit the ball. Just about everyone is struggling. Swinging for the fences instead of trying to make contact like the Blue Jays are.

Maine's Democratic primary gets weird. Former front runner was Graham Platner, but has been recently passed by old and not-very-popular governor Janet Mills. Platner fits the mold of Maine democrats - blue collar, counter-party views, angry, and you wouldn't be surprised if he beat his wife and kids. His popularity has taken a hit after oppo research uncovered that he has a big nazi tattoo and posted a bunch of racist and homophobic stuff online.

sycasey's avatar

Should also say for Platner that he basically folds this stuff into the "story" he's telling on the campaign: that he had dark times in his life and wants to show you can move past them. We'll see if the voters buy that.

Google TV Streamer

was setting up this device last night. a nice upgrade from the Chromecast TV that i have had for years. i use YouTubeTV as my primary "live TV" watching source so this is a good match.

hopefully it is better across all the other streaming apps. one of the biggest pain points before was the time it took to switch between apps when watching.

looks like i'll be switching over to the Disney Plus app a lot to watch ESPN since YouTubeTV sent me a note thing morning that they cant reach a deal w/ Disney.

sycasey's avatar

I suspect the YouTube-ESPN dispute will be resolved pretty quickly, but you never know. Disney can be a pretty stubborn negotiator.

Fortunately in the streaming age people have a lot of other options to watch stuff they want to watch. I might try out a trial of DirecTV streaming to see how that feels.

DeSean has only beaten one decent team - NCCU.

He is 6-3, but has only beaten two Division 2 teams (Bowie State, Southern CT), barely beaten three teams (Albany, Norfolk State, St. Francis) that are a combined 2-22. His next three games are against teams with 0.500 or better records.
