LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The California men's and women's cross country teams finished their second ACC championship appearance at Sawyer State Park. The men's team finished in 16th place and the women's placed 15th
Teddye Buchanan was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month for October to highlight the accomplishments by Pro Bears in Week 8 of the NFL season. The Baltimore linebacker registered 30 tackles, four tackles for loss and one quarterback hit in three contests, including a career-high 15 tackles and one tackle for loss in a 44-10 Week 5 home loss to Houston.
Some other top Week 8 highlights for Pro Bears included
BERKELEY – The California field hockey team (8-7, 3-5 ACC) closed the regular season with a 3-1 victory against Stanford (7-9, 2-6 ACC) on Thursday night at Underhill Field.
The Golden Bears closed the 2025 campaign with a 6-2 record on their home turf after Liz Klompmaker found the back of the net twice, while Holly Pears added one goal in the contest.
BERKELEY. – The California women's soccer team was defeated by No. 2 Stanford 8-2 at Edwards Stadium Thursday in the final match of the regular season. The Cardinal scored three goals in the first half and five in the second half to capture its first ACC regular-season title.
The No. 4 California men's water polo team (14-3) will head to Southern California for a pair of back-to-back games to close out the 2025 regular-season road slate, beginning Saturday at No. 1 USC (15-2), followed by a match at No. 2 UCLA (18-1) on Sunday.
California kicks off its 2025-26 campaign on home turf, welcoming fans to Haas Pavilion for a 7 p.m. faceoff against CSU Bakersfield on Monday (Nov. 3). The Golden Bears are 4-2 all-time against the Roadrunners in a series dating back to 1977 — with every game having been played in Berkeley. A victory would secure Cal's 300th win at Haas Pavilion in men's basketball and would give head coach Mark Madsen 98 wins in his career, just two away from 100.
The California women's gymnastics team unveiled its 2026 schedule on Thursday afternoon. Head coach Geralen Stack-Eaton's inaugural season leading the Golden Bears will feature 13 fixtures, including five home meets at Haas Pavilion this winter.
The Bears' 2026 campaign will begin on Jan. 3 at Washington as they take on a trio of former Pac-12 foes in the host-team Huskies, Oregon State and UCLA in Seattle.
The California women's tennis team will send four players – Greta Greco Lucchina, Mille Johanna Moerk, Anya Murthy and Tiziana-Marie Schomburg - to compete in the Dennis Rizza Intercollegiate Classic from Friday through Sunday in Southern California.
This marks the fourth tournament of the fall for Greco Lucchina, a sophomore ranked 125th nationally in singles who has already qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship with her exploits in the recent ITA Northwest Regional Championships. With the fall half of the season winding to a close in November, the Dennis Rizza tournament is one of the last chances for the Bears to compete until the spring dual-match season.
While I'm hoping to leave the Cal/UVa game early so I can find somewhere to watch game 7, I'm fully expecting that while Yama can hold them to 1 or 2 runs, I don't have any confidence that anyone on the Dodgers can hit the ball. Just about everyone is struggling. Swinging for the fences instead of trying to make contact like the Blue Jays are.
Warriors lose to Bucks on the road. the W's kept themselves in the game by tying up after falling behid multiple times. in the end, they gave up way too many open 3s and the Bucks did not miss.
Look, I’ve been covering the Warriors for eight years, and at this point, I should probably just accept that this team operates on a different plane of basketball logic than the rest of us mortals.
They opened the season by dropping 119 on the Lakers. Beat them straight up. Then they went into overtime with the Nuggets and survived with 137 points. Dismantled Memphis 131-118. These aren’t scrubs. These are Western Conference playoff teams with championship aspirations. The Warriors looked at legitimate competition and said, “Yeah, we got this.”
maybe there has been a slow decline in the Ws defense over the years. yesterday it seemed that the Bucks outside shooters were wide open much of the game.
once upon a time w/ Steph and Klay, they took the league sort of by surprise. now it seems that most decent plays can consistently hit 3s, or at least that is all they try.
They seemed to shutdown the Clipper 3 nights ago. But maybe because it was the Clippers. Seemed a step slow and ex-Warriors Ryan Rollins absolutely torched them. Ryan Rollins of the CP3 trade.
There's also just some variance involved. You can't literally cover everybody, not if the offense is willing to pass the ball. So you choose who you might leave open at the end, and on some nights they happen to hit all of their shots. That's kind of what happened in this game.
Maine's Democratic primary gets weird. Former front runner was Graham Platner, but has been recently passed by old and not-very-popular governor Janet Mills. Platner fits the mold of Maine democrats - blue collar, counter-party views, angry, and you wouldn't be surprised if he beat his wife and kids. His popularity has taken a hit after oppo research uncovered that he has a big nazi tattoo and posted a bunch of racist and homophobic stuff online.
Should also say for Platner that he basically folds this stuff into the "story" he's telling on the campaign: that he had dark times in his life and wants to show you can move past them. We'll see if the voters buy that.
Trump administration reduces refugees from 125,000 to 7,500 and reserved most of those for white South Africans. This deal smells. This has a stinky musk all over it.
was setting up this device last night. a nice upgrade from the Chromecast TV that i have had for years. i use YouTubeTV as my primary "live TV" watching source so this is a good match.
hopefully it is better across all the other streaming apps. one of the biggest pain points before was the time it took to switch between apps when watching.
looks like i'll be switching over to the Disney Plus app a lot to watch ESPN since YouTubeTV sent me a note thing morning that they cant reach a deal w/ Disney.
I suspect the YouTube-ESPN dispute will be resolved pretty quickly, but you never know. Disney can be a pretty stubborn negotiator.
Fortunately in the streaming age people have a lot of other options to watch stuff they want to watch. I might try out a trial of DirecTV streaming to see how that feels.
He is 6-3, but has only beaten two Division 2 teams (Bowie State, Southern CT), barely beaten three teams (Albany, Norfolk State, St. Francis) that are a combined 2-22. His next three games are against teams with 0.500 or better records.
