The ACC has an 8 game conference schedule and 3 OOC games already scheduled. This leaves another OOC team. Who would you LIKE to see them play and/or who do you think they WILL play?
I think a home-and-home with Nevada makes sense, certainly from a travel standpoint. San Jose State would also be awesome and a throwback to the good ol' days.
I agree that Oregon State or WSU are the likely candidates.
I would like to play a low B-level team or an FCS team like Kennesaw State, Rice, or Utah State. I'm okay with buying a win because winning is the one thing that is holding back Cal from gaining momentum.
I think they will play Oregon State or Washington State.
WSU/OSU make a lot of sense because they will be scrambling to find 8 or 9 new games next season. I'd much rather play a weak opponent though because this team desperately needs wins.

PHOENIX -- Max Scherzer found Adolis Garcia amid a scramble near the Chase Field pitcher's mound Wednesday night -- moments after a 5-0 victory that sealed the first championship in Texas Rangers history, when the emotions of it all were still fresh -- and hugged him so tight it seemed as if he'd never let go.
A mere 28 hours earlier, the Rangers learned they would have to win two more World Series games without Scherzer and Garcia, both of whom suffered season-ending injuries in Game 3. That they did so immediately and vanquished the Arizona Diamondbacks by winning Games 4 and 5 in their building spoke to what many have long believed to be the most important aspect of this high-priced, decorated group of players:
Living in the northwest where we are force-fed the Mariners, I can assure you that the Mariners are likely to be the last of those to win it all. Management's objective is to get rid of as much talent as soon as it becomes marketable as possible.

You are correct: the Mariners do not have a World Series appearance.
EDIT: the Mariners have one of the most spectacular flameouts in the postseason, losing in the ALCS to the Yankees, 4 games to 1, after winning 116 games in the 2001 regular season (as per my Google results).
That season, the Mariners ran away with the AL West. The finished 14 games ahead of the Oakland A's who won 102 games, no mean feat in and of itself.

BERKELEY – The California men's tennis team will send six Golden Bears to play in the Jack Kramer Invitational and four Bears to play in the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge, as the first half of the season comes to a close.
SMU is the host of the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge in Dallas, where Alex Chang, Derrick Chen, Lucas Magnaudet and Mikey Wright will compete. Carl Emil Overbeck, John Kim and freshmen Alex Aney, Jonathan Irwanto, Ethan Schiffman and Tim Stepanov will play in the Jack Kramer Invitational in Southern California.
SAN DIEGO – California women's tennis senior Hannah Viller Moeller won in the opening rounds of 32 in both singles and doubles Wednesday in the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center.
The Danish veteran paired with freshman Mao Mushika to defeat the 46th-ranked Virginia duo of Melodie Collard and Annabelle Xu, 6-2, 7-6(4) in doubles. In singles, Viller Moeller upset the 18th-ranked Tanya Sasnouskaya of Texas, 6-3, 6-2.
BERKELEY – California volleyball returns to Haas Pavilion this weekend for its penultimate two-game homestand of the season, welcoming Washington on Friday at 7 p.m. PT and No. 9 Washington State on Sunday at noon.
The Golden Bears (15-8, 4-8 Pac-12) are 29-48 all-time against the Huskies (13-10, 4-8), who won in four sets in the first matchup between the two teams earlier this year. Cal's last win over Washington was over a decade ago on Nov. 12, 2011, but the Bears will look to take advantage of a Huskies squad that has lost its past four matches. As a team, UW ranks 24th in the nation with 1.85 service aces per set and 33rd with 165 total aces; in Cal's last trip to Seattle, the Dawgs were as good as advertised on that front with nine on the match. UW's top attacker that day was junior Madi Endsley, who posted 18 kills on .400 hitting.
For three years, Santiago Hopkins has worn the Blue & Gold of the California men's soccer team. If all goes well, he could someday wear the blue, white and red of the Philippines.
The Cal defender is exploring the possibility of playing for the Philippines national team – known as the Azkals – by earning citizenship of the Asian nation.
BERKELEY – Former California men's basketball standout Theo Robertson, an All-Pac-10 selection who has gone on to coach both at Cal and in the NBA, has been named the new color analyst for Golden Bear radio broadcasts, Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton and Learfield Cal Bears Sports Properties announced Wednesday.
Robertson starred at Cal from 2006-10, helping the Bears win their first conference championship in 50 years as a senior, when he was named team MVP and earned All-Pac-10 Second-Team honors. He was a two-time team captain at Cal and finished his career as the program's all-time leader in 3-point percentage.
Sitting in a hotel room in Maine, the three seniors on Cal's field hockey team prepare for Thursday's America East Tournament opener against Vermont. While doing so, they took a moment to look back at the tumultuous start to their careers. At the same time, they're preparing to cement their legacies on the program, with at least one game left to play.
Kiki de Bruijne, Claire Hind and Sabine Hommes showed up in Berkeley at the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their freshman season, which was supposed to take place in the fall of 2020, was pushed to the spring of 2021. The three were not allowed on campus until the spring semester of their freshman year and were not allowed to live in the dorms – they had to scramble to find an apartment to live in together.
BERKELEY – The California men's swimming & diving team and rival Stanford will square off for the first time in this season Friday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Complex when the Golden Bears host the Cardinal for the annual Triple Distance Meet. The competition is scheduled to begin at noon PT.
BERKELEY - The No. 11 California women's swimming & diving team closes out the fall dual meet season with a trip southward to compete against UC San Diego on Friday.
The Golden Bears are 2-0 in dual meet action so far, beating both Pittsburgh and Washington State soundly at Spieker Aquatics Complex. This will be Cal's first road dual meet of the season.
BERKELEY – The California field hockey team had four student-athletes earn America East All-Conference awards as announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning. The Golden Bears had two athletes earn all-conference honors.
Since 1980 Cal has had at least two athletes earn all-conference honors each season. That streak continues with Bente Baekers and Daniella Rhodes earning America East First-Team honors.
On this day in 1991 in Memorial Stadium the Golden Bears defeated U$C, 52-30 before 70,000 fans. The 52 points were not only the most the Bears had ever scored against U$C but the most the Trojans had ever allowed in any game. Cal built a 35-7 at halftime and increased the lead to 49-14 by the end of the third quarter. Russell White ran for three touchdowns and had a 66-yard kickoff return. QB Mike Pawlawski threw three TD passes, all to Sean Dawkins. Cal amassed 601 yards in total offense. The Sturdy Golden Ones would finish the season with a 10-2 record and a top ten ranking while playing in their first New Year’s Day bowl since the ’59 Rose Bowl. Also on this day the Golden State Warriors beat Sacramento by a club record 62 points, 153-91.
DBD celebrates 100 years of football in Strawberry Canyon with this daily feature appearing throughout the football season.
Mike Pawlawski was the quintessential Cal QB that even opponents had to appreciate. The G-Bears have had better, Kapp, probably Morton (a very different time and place), Roth, Bartkowski, Rogers, Taylor, eventually Goff, but I still remember Pawlawski regularly leaving me with the "he sure played better than I thought he would" feeling. You can't ask for more, and you couldn't dislike him.
And this concluded with perhaps one of Cal's best bowl games - the 1992 Citrus Bowl vs. Clemson. I remember the doubt that the media had before this game - how a real program like Clemson and its hard hitting defense was going to show the cowabunga-don't-have-a-cow-man-hippies from California what real football was like. And Cal physically manhandled them on offense, defense, and special teams. RIP Sean Dawkins.
From the Cal Band perspective (I was a sophomore that year), it was a fantastic trip. IIRC, Chester McGlockton (originally from San Ramon) was on that Clemson team. One of Clemson's defenders (I don't remember who) was ejected for throwing a punch in a pile. I also remember the unfortunate halftime show that the Citrus Bowl committee presented after the bands finished...they celebrated the 500th anniversary of "Columbus Discovering America". Many of us in the Cal Band were chuckling at that.
I remember that game. Everyone expected Russell White to be the focus from the beginning. Cal opens up with Pawlaski essentially dropping back to pass the entire 1Q. In the second quarter, it was Russell like 15 straight times. Cal dominated in all facets.
HSB and I flew to Pensacola (using the AmEx student ticket special) and drove to Orlando. That was the closest we could get to Orlando. Was fun since we were able to visit the Navel Air Museum. And boy did Cal dominate. Russell White was the only RB to gain 100+ yards on their D.
In fairness, if they were monitoring players for concussions then Russ might not have made it through many games either. At least I'm assuming that's why Ott got pulled late last week.
In the lede image Puddles' hat says "ORTGON"...was this AI generated?

I fully expect them to something stupid like schedule UCLA or USC.
Yep, that’s on the table as well.
I wonder if they'll lose players to the portal since their future is cloudy.

There are now only five franchises remaining in MLB that have never won a World Series:
Colorado Rockies
Milwaukee Brewers
San Diego Padres
Seattle Mariners
Tampa Bay Rays
I'm going to guess Mariners will be the next one to win from this group.
Living in the northwest where we are force-fed the Mariners, I can assure you that the Mariners are likely to be the last of those to win it all. Management's objective is to get rid of as much talent as soon as it becomes marketable as possible.

Maybe the Rays, but they don't want to sign superstars so they're dependent on how well they can develop. And losing Wander Franco hurts.
I think the Padres aren't going to do anything until they get rid of Preller and get a real coach that will change the clubhouse culture.
Rockies, yeah no.
The Rays are kind of always there in the playoff mix and just made the World Series in 2020, so you'd have to say they always have a shot.

The Sturdy Golden Ones would finish the season with a 10-2 record and a top ten ranking while playing in their first New Year’s Day bowl since the ’59 Rose Bowl. Also on this day the Golden State Warriors beat Sacramento by a club record 62 points, 153-91.

My recollection is that Chester was ejected for throwing that punch.
McGlockton coached at Stanf*rd, as I recall. He died like 10 or more years ago. Heart disease, I think.
I think Treggs had a PR for a TD, ran the fumblerooski, many other things I think I'm forgetting.
We only scored three less agains them last Saturday. Take away a turnover and we'd have topped it.
That was a good senior year for us at Cal. Russell White was amazing to watch
He was sublime.
After the 1Q, I was wondering if Sat was going to the Jayden Ott's Russell White game.
Ott unfortunately can’t stay on the field long enough to have that type of game.
In fairness, if they were monitoring players for concussions then Russ might not have made it through many games either. At least I'm assuming that's why Ott got pulled late last week.
That’s true. And the heightened scrutiny now is definitely a good thing.
