i have been doing this pretty regularly for last 4-5 months and definitely seen solid improvement. even able to complete Fri and Sun w/o clues or hints or cheating on occasion.

Sat is still tough, nearly impossible sometimes if you dont get some lucky guesses to work out early.

we came in NYC this weekend to be spectators at the NYC marathon. first time doing that in all these years.

it was quite the event. i didnt appreciate that pretty much the entire 26 mi route is lined w/ supporters cheering on the runners.

a friend of mine from HS was running, so we got to see her pass by around mile 18.

the longest i have ever run is the Bay-to-Breakers during our senior yr at Cal

recently i have started doing some trail running. currently at 4 miles on a moderately hilly loop that i enjoy. trying to get up to the 5-6 mi range in the near term.

I’ve always enjoyed trail running but I’m getting gun shy these days for fear of tripping on the rocks and roots.

A few years back I joined a Chicago friend for the Chicago Marathon (their place is a few blocks off the route), super fun to see the super star runners & wheelers and cheer on all the rest.

At first I read this to be you were joining him in running the marathon.

Ha- cheering for several hours took it out of me. It was impressive seeing so many people running that far!

dcblue's avatar

I’ve run quite a few marathons but NYC is way too big for me.

going to Robert Plant concert this weekend. (yes, he is still alive and performing)

he is w/ a new-ish band called Saving Grace. the new songs seem to have a gospel flavor to them.

i saw him a year or two ago and it was great. he played 4 songs off of the Led Zeppelin IV album which was great (not Stairway to Heaven)

Guy

he was fun to watch. back when teams still punted ..

Coffin corner punts FTW!

no one in this crowd knew him. one of my best friends from grad school. very strange and quirky guy. if you have any problem (computer problem or not), he could write a sed or awk script to solve it!

died too young. shot by estranged lover of his girlfriend on Valentines day.

Bans.

I always wondered how they became the offical (or maybe unofficial) sunglasses for military aviators.

BERKELEY -- Led by John Camden's 22-point night, California men's basketball team churned out its 300th win at Haas Pavilion with a well-balanced 87-60 victory over visiting CSU Bakersfield tonight (Nov. 3). The Golden Bears' 87 points were the most in a season opener since 2015 and featured four players in double figures on the night. Cal opens the 2025-26 season with a 1-0 mark.

I don't understand. Are we allowed to blow out an overmatched opponent?

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

it is usually the other way around. overmatched opponent beats Cal decisively.

I tuned in while getting ready for bed. CSU went on a 10-0 run so it was off to bed for me.

Not looking good. I turned in to watch while having lunch and Cal was down 5-1 after three periods. Now 7-1.
