Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy had his defamation case dismissed, which is why I can say that he is a sexual abuser of women. And I will continue to go to original sources rather than use Barstool Sports publications.

Watched the 3rd episode of Magpie Murders, interesting construction of a murder mystery show; chosen by my wife and daughter - I'm enjoying it. Started Welcome to Wrexham, interesting show.

The one that blew my mind was Pam & Tommy (1st so far) since I didn't really pay any attention to the reality when it occurred. Looks very well acted.

Peetyjay's avatar

Finally got around to watching Stranger Things 4 last night. My wife and I made the mistake of allowing our 13 year old daughter to watch the series before we had the chance to watch S4. Based on the first 3 seasons, it seemed appropriate for her age. Of course she binged through the first 3 seasons, then stopped watching after episode 1 of S4 because it was so frightening. After watching episode one of S4 last night, I now see why she was so frightened. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but the show has definitely moved from supernatural suspense to almost horror with much more graphic depictions of blood and carnage.

GoldenSD81's avatar

I loved season 4 and those deaths. Took me back to my childhood and watching Nightmare on Elm Street. Those deaths and the way they died were so spot on for 80s horror.

Peetyjay's avatar

Agreed. I thoroughly enjoyed episode one and look forward to the rest.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

I may have to watch…I resisted because S3 was so f-ing lame…

heyalumnigo's avatar

I agree 4 is better than 3. Although I didn't think 3 was as bad as everyone else. I'd say watch 4.

GlueAndBold's avatar

Somewhat spoilers, but that particular style of death will be reused, though imo with somewhat diminished CGI. I certainly found it shocking in the first episode and more grim than horrifying in later ones.

cranberry molasses. I made a batch the other day as a sweet/sour sauce. It was an experiment to riff off of Persian pomegranate molasses because cranberry juice is cheaper/more available compared to pomegranate juice. Products. I remember going to the one in Pleasant Hill with my dad. They had a showroom with all the products but you ordered from a kiosk, I think, and the product would come down on the conveyor belt from the 2nd floor and you picked it up and paid.

Similar to Consumer Distribution where they had a small showroom with a catalog and you ordered and it came from the back.

Gus's Fried Chicken (had it in Memphis after the Ole Miss game) and World Famous Hotboyz chicken. Both are in Oakland near where San Pablo hits Broadway. TN ban slavery in the state. I'm not sure what disappoints me more, that it took this long to close the Constitutional loophole or that more than 20% of voters voted to retain slavery

https://www.elections.tn.gov/results.php?ByOffice=Constitutional%20Amendment%203

Scootie's avatar

Yeah, take a look at Oregon...

AndyPanda's avatar

The issue with the Oregon measure is slavery and the ability to require prisoners to work somehow got bundled. Probably originally as a means to try to keep the legality of slavery. Entangled legal wording creates some messy knots to untie.

Scootie's avatar

The measure struck the sentence from the state constitution that allowed slavery as a punishment for a crime. It struck out everything from "otherwise" on below. That is essentially the same thing all of these states were voting on. There was nothing in the Oregon statute preventing the state from paying prisoners for their labor.

ext of Section 34:

Slavery or Involuntary Servitude

(1.)There shall be neither slavery, nor involuntary servitude in this state, otherwise than as a punishment for crime, whereof the party shall have been duly convicted.

SGBear's avatar

DEMs outperform expectations, but balance of House and Senate undecided at this point.

Berkelium97's avatar

Right now, a 50-50 Senate looks likely

https://abcnews.go.com/Elections/2022-us-senate-election-results-live-map

Democrats and Republicans each have 48 seats, with 4 races remaining to decide the Senate:

GA: Warnock (D) leads Walker (R) by about 19k votes (96% of expected votes have been counted)

AZ: Kelly (D) leads Masters (R) by 107k votes (only 68% reporting)

NV: Laxalt (R) leads Cortez-Mastro (D) by 23k votes (only 80% reporting)

WI: Johnson (R) leads Barnes (D) by 32k votes (94% reporting)

heyalumnigo's avatar

Wow Warnock pulled back ahead. At the gym I had seen Warnock up with only like 15% reporting, then by the time I left, Walker was ahead with like 40% reporting. I purposely didn't follow any of the coverage.

sycasey's avatar

Yeah I'd say Warnock should be narrowly favored to win in the runoff. Kemp will not be on the ballot and the GOP base likely demoralized.

Even better chance if Kelly and Cortez-Masto can pull out their races and control of the Senate is not on the line anymore. There should be another late "blue shift" in NV as the remaining ballots are mail and mostly in the big urban counties. AZ is different; the late vote shifts redder. But Kelly still has a decent lead.

Oski Disciple's avatar

I find it incredibly depressing that someone like Walker can get even a third of the vote in any state in the union. Then again Trump got over 70 million in 2020 so why should I be surprised.

CruzinBears's avatar

It really shows the current state of affairs with the whole vote for anyone with an R by their name just to "own the libs"

GoldenSD81's avatar

Walker getting that many votes and Warnock not easily winning is depressing.

Hopefully Warnock wins in the runoff.

GoldenSD81's avatar

I am still holding out hope that we gain both Georgia and Nevada to have a 51-49 senate majority.

dcblue's avatar

Things also not looking good for Sarah Palin. The D leads by 21% but doesn't look like she's going to get to 50%. Alaska uses ranked choice and Palin and the mainstream R have pretty much split the rest of the vote. There's a good chance that votes from the mainstream R will put the D over 50% when they finally break it down. It's going to take awhile to find out.

GlueAndBold's avatar

It's expected to be a repeat of the special election, except the Democrat won more of the initial count.

dcblue's avatar

Yeah, Peltola is already above 47% so she doesn't need many votes from Begich (assuming he stays third) supporters. From talking to my relatives up there the anti-Sarah sentiment is pretty strong though she does still have her supporters.

https://calbears.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/mike-neu/5512

SGBear's avatar

They two should play each other in a neutral competition - the winner remains Mike Neu and the loser has to change his name. Perhaps "Better than Mike Neu"?

AndyPanda's avatar

Wouldn't the winner be by definition the better one?

SGBear's avatar

Yes, but it was my lame attempt at making an obscure reference.

There are unproven stories behind the naming of the band "Better than Ezra". One of the stories was that there were two bands called Ezra playing in Louisiana in the 90s and they had a battle-of-the-bands contest to see who would keep the name. One band lost and they changed it to "Better than Ezra". Another version of the naming origin is that the then-unnamed band came to a battle-of-the-bands contest, where they saw a band called Ezra had entered.
