The league is made up of corporation's football teams. Most players do office work during the day and practice a few hours. Some players have a pro contract where they are hired to play football only, Noa most likely so.
I was working temporarily at the embassy in Tokyo years ago and there was a college "all-star" game and got a ticket from the embassy. The stadium was full but I think that was more from the novelty than anything.
I remember a kid HSB and I went to middle school for a couple of years was moving back to Japan. He didn't want to go because he wanted to play HS football here. I think he would've been a very good football player. He was a really good flag football player in middle school.
My classmate and friend played JV football his freshman year in HS, then went back to Japan and he continued to play football in HS, college and even amateur league as his company had a football team. He played Linebacker. After his playing days were over he got positioned and worked in Dubai for a few years but is now back in Tokyo.
If this wasn't Michigan, I suspect the NCAA would have either done nothing or thrown the book at them. $$$ trumps fairness and - ironically - sportsmanship
I saw a news article that had a picture of Ivanka Trump and her testimony in New York. The picture looked weird and I saw that her chin was like double the size it was a few years ago and she's clearly had lip filler. I then google the topic, which seemed to support the notion that she's had significant work done. I guess to each their own, but she's still not a good person on the inside.
The ending was good, but I felt it ran in circles a bit in the middle episodes. I almost checked out after the fourth one, but they pulled it together.
BERKELEY – California volleyball battled hard against the Oregon State Beavers in Haas Pavilion on Friday night, but were ultimately bested by the visitors, 3-1, to bring the Golden Bears' record to 15-11 (4-11 Pac-12). Oregon State's (10-15, 5-10) defense accumulated a total of 15 blocks and held the Golden Bears to .167 hitting across four sets.
BERKELEY – With a trip to the postseason possibly on the line, the California men's soccer team travels to The Farm to battle No. 22 Stanford for game two of the Big Clásico on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT in the regular-season finale.
BERKELEY – The California men's basketball team's season-opening homestand continues Friday night against Pacific, with the nonconference tilt set to tipoff at 8 p.m. PST inside Haas Pavilion. The Pac-12 Network will televise the contest.
Cal (1-0) opened the Mark Madsen era with a 71-66 victory over St. Thomas (Minn.) on Monday. Jalen Celestine scored a career-high 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the floor in his first game action in 607 days while Fardaws Aimaq recorded a double-double in his Cal debut with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
For the first time since Sept. 24, the No. 2 California men's water polo team will have its full starting lineup intact as it heads into its regular-season finale this Senior Day Saturday against No. 4 Stanford. The Golden Bears are coming off a 13-9 defeat at No. 1 UCLA on Oct. 28, a game which saw the return of center Nikolaos Papanikolaou after he missed 10 of the previous 13 contests. Goalkeeper Adrian Weinberg will also be back in the pool following a five-game absence during which he helped Team USA capture the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Chile. Papanikolaou and Weinberg will be among the nine Golden Bear seniors honored prior to the Big Splash. The Bears have gone 1-1 against the Cardinal in 2023, with both games being decided by one goal. Whichever team wins this Saturday will clinch the No. 2 seed in the MPSF D-I West standings.
BERKELEY. – The California women's basketball team is set to host its annual School Haas Rock game when it faces Eastern Washington on Friday, Dec. 15 at 11:30 a.m. The annual event serves as an opportunity to entertain and educate local youth at the elementary and middle school levels and bring them into a university setting.
On this day in 1990 in Memorial Stadium the Golden Bears defeated 20th ranked Oregon, 28-3 to clinch their first winning season in eight years. Representatives of the Copper Bowl were on hand and California would subsequently accept an invitation to the December 31st bowl game, their first post-season appearance since 1979. The Ducks were quarterbacked that day by Bill Musgrave who went 10 for 29 with an interception before being knocked out of the game. Running backs Russell White and Anthony Wallace led the Bear ground attack and QB Mike Pawlawski threw TD passes to Sean Dawkins and Brian Treggs, the later on a flea flicker. The defense held Oregon to a season-low 273 yards.
DBD celebrates 100 years of football in Strawberry Canyon with this daily feature appearing throughout the football season.
I forgot that Musgrave was QB then, which makes him nearly my contemporary in age. This blows my mind that he's only 55. I guess coaching is hard living because I thought he was older.
BERKELEY- The California beach volleyball program will join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) in 2025, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Grand Canyon will join the Golden Bears for their first season in the MPSF.

It fascinates me that they play American football in Japan. You never really hear about it, but it's a thing.

Not at all. Whenever I talk about American football, almost everyone asks me "how is it different from rugby?"

They have some good beach states in ACC territory . . . you'd think it would be popular in some of them.
I wonder if it is in places like Gulf Shores, or maybe Florida.
