The California women's basketball team will host its annual School Haas Rock game on Thursday when it hosts Saint Mary's at 11:30 a.m. PT at Haas Pavilion. The annual event serves as an opportunity to entertain and educate local youth at the elementary and middle school levels and bring them into a university setting.
The California football team (6-4, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) will play the 128th rendition of the Big Game versus Stanford (3-7, 2-5 ACC) Saturday afternoon on The Farm. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT, with the game set to be aired live on the ACC Network.
Should be the 119th edition of the Big Game. That 128 games figure would have to include the 9 rugby games from 1906 to 1914. Cal did not play football from 1906 to 1914. Rugby was Cal's preferred sport in place of football.
Notice that the total implied by the records (Cal 48 wins, 10 tie games, and Stanford 60 wins) equals 118 games.
However, the winning percentages are wrong because they simply divided the number of wins by the total number of games int he series. They failed to account for the ties as half-wins for each team.
BERKELEY -- The California men's basketball team shrugged off five lead changes and eight ties with a late push to another home victory, beating visiting Presbyterian 67-57 tonight at Haas Pavilion. John Camden scored 18 of his final 20 points in the second half to help stabilize the Golden Bears through a game that was tight until the final few minutes. Cal improves to 4-1 overall with the win, while the Blue Hose go to 3-4.
ORLANDO, Fla. – California women's tennis senior Berta Passola Folch dominated her NCAA Singles Championship debut Tuesday at the USTA National Campus, with the 113th-ranked Golden Bear defeating UCLA's 81st-ranked Mayu Crossley 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the second round.
California men's gymnastics has released its schedule for the 2026 season, which includes three meets at Haas Pavilion and a total of eight competitions under first-year head coach Bryan Del Castillo.
ORLANDO, Fla. - Two members of the California men's tennis team suffered singles defeats on the first day of the NCAA Singles Championship on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus.
Sophomore Fryderyk Lechno-Wasiutynski suffered his second collegiate defeat of the season, losing to 11th-ranked Benito Sanchez Martinez of Mississippi State 2-6, 4-6 in the round of 64.
California volleyball will compete in a pair of Big Spike matchups against rival No. 5 Stanford this week, traveling to The Farm to play the Cardinal (23-4, 14-2 ACC) at Burnham Pavilion on Wednesday night before hosting them at Haas Pavilion on Sunday afternoon for Senior Day. Both matches will be streamed on ACCNX.

skiing uphill is the big thing now. apparently w/ all the early snow, uphill access open, ski resort still closed, they are having to warm people to be safe and follow the rules.
admittedly if i was up there right now, i would be there w/ my touring skis as well.
indeed it goes by several names now, alpine touring, backcountry skiing, etc.
most ski resorts also have an "uphill policy" that allows you to skin uphill on certain runs for no cost or reduced cost and you can ski down for free as long you are not using the lifts.
and if you want to avoid the people and the resorts there are plenty of mountains w/ snow that one can explore. there are specialized tours and mountain lodges dedicated to it as well. i prefer that route so someone else can worry about the snow conditions and avalanche risk.
my best trip (7-8 years ago now) was in BC to a dedicated backcountry touring lodge. you helicopter in and for 5 days, you have skin up anything you want to ski down with dedicated guides and support and hot meals waiting back at the lodge. was incredibly beautiful, tiring, and rewarding all at once.

Snow .. one of my favorite ski resorts in VT. Jay Peak, had gotten a ton of early season snow. almost a 100 inches in Nov.
they are opening a week early and even though we are in VT this weekend, sadly we have no time to stop by and ski for a day.
