The Chiefs wide receivers are going to single-handedly prevent them from winning a title.

Yup. Still pissed that the only play in a big game that Marques Valdes Scantling has pretty much EVER made was last year in the AFC Championship v Cincy in a game that cost me a parlay worth $1000. Sigh.

Warriors finally get a win and Klay shoots well.

Steph Curry’s 32 points leads Warriors to 121-116 victory over Rockets

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 121-116 on Monday evening, improving to 7-8 on the season. It may have taken longer than the team hoped, but the Warriors finally have their second home victory of the year.

The Dubs stumbled out of the gate, allowing the Rockets to jump out to an early first quarter lead. However, Dario Šarić, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody led the bench unit to a strong finish to the quarter, putting Golden State ahead 29-27.

I'm driving up to DC to go to the African American museum, having dinner, and then driving to Michigan. Y'all are on your own to post away for the rest of the week. No DBD on Thursday.

Nice. I'm driving down to LA on Fri with Nos 2 and 3 for the fUCLA game. Sitting with an old friend in the fUCLA donors box since her husband and son are going to Az for a baseball tournament. Free average food.

finished watching the last 3 episodes of Ahsoka last night with the missus, and it got stupider if anything. Of course that won't stop me from watching if they make another season, because I am daft

Expand full comment

I watched the first two. quit. then watched two more. then quit for good.

so slow and stupid. [SPOILER]

as soon as the padowan(I think?) got stabbed with the lightsaber and lived, I was rolling the eyes. and the dialog is so slow and stilted...

I actually enjoyed the series and am looking forward to the second season. It was different, which is good for the Star Wars universe.

I thought the season was alright. But I'll watch season 2 because I just want to be entertained and it was entertaining enough.

Yeah, I liked it fine. Don't really understand all the complaining on Twitter.

But I guess that's true of a lot of modern Star Wars stuff.

I didn't hate it but the "fighting Anakin in a minimalist Tron set" and "SPACE WITCHES!" developments had me rolling my eyes just a bit

Ahsoka is basically the live action continuation for both the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. Thrawn, the space whales and the Dathomir witches are figured prominently in both series.

On this day in 1970 in Memorial Stadium the Golden Bears upset Rose Bowl-bound Stanfurd, 22-14 before 76,800 onlookers. At the previous night’s Axe rally (which I attended) a Cal linemen encouraged fans to come out to Memorial Stadium as it would be “the only place in the country where you can see Jim Plunkett flat on his back.” As it turned out the inspired Bear defense sacked The Cardinal’s All-American QB four times and put him under constant pressure. Sherman White was the defensive hero with two sacks. California QB Dave Penhall was every bit Plunkett’s equal on the day hitting on 18 of 28 passes for 231 yards and a TD; he also ran for one touchdown. Randy Wersching kicked three field goals for the Sturdy Golden Ones. The Bears had jumped out to a 13-0 lead only to see their arch rivals rebound to go ahead 14-13 entering the final quarter. But the Bears rallied with nine fourth quarter points. It was the first home Big Game victory for Cal in ten years. (Personal note: this was my first Bear Big Game win after three losses. After the game I got Penhall’s autograph on my ticket stub.) In a post game interview Cal head coach Ray Willsey declared the Bears the champions of California as they had previously defeated U$C and were robbed by the officials (as film confirmed) in their narrow loss to UCLA.

I listened to the 1970 Big Game on KNBR; before Joe Starkey and before the years of KGO. I remember it as a rousing game, one in which Stanfurd was supposed to dominate. The Bears came up big when it mattered. Two years later I would finally attend a Big Game. The 1972 Big Game was the first cliffhanger in the series.

The Big Game may not have the national notice of other rivalries, but it is never a dull event.

[VB] Maggie Li Earns Sixth Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week Award

https://calbears.com/news/2023/11/20/volleyball-maggie-li-earns-sixth-pac-12-freshman-of-the-week-award.aspx

California volleyball's Maggie Li moved further up the conference record books on Monday as she was honored with her sixth Pac-12 Freshman of the Week award following a combined 38-kill performance against the L.A. schools.

Li's 15 kills against No. 24 USC on Friday was a team-high; she also posted 10 digs for her 11th double-double of the season. She led the way with a match-high 23 kills to lead the Bears to their first win over UCLA since 2018 on Sunday, finishing off each of Cal's set wins with a kill and ending the match with three straight scores.

[MBB] Buzzer-Beater Lifts UTEP Over Cal

https://calbears.com/news/2023/11/21/mens-basketball-buzzer-beater-lifts-utep-over-cal.aspx

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (AP) – Jalen Cone sank a game-tying 3-pointer for the California men's basketball team with 16 seconds remaining, but Tae Hardy answered from beyond the arc to rally UTEP to a 75-72 victory over the Golden Bears at the SoCal Challenge on Monday night.

My biggest takeaway is that Cal got dragged into the rockfight that UTEP wanted. Missing Askew and Celestine really hurt us, as we needed two heady players to help steady the ship.

And as you typed this, Cone just hucked up another 3.

Cone is not the issue. He was 3-of-8 last night, including the tying shot. He's been exactly what we thought he'd be.

Look at Aimaq's and Newell's stat lines. Tyson I am giving a mild pass as he was asked to do more PG than he should be playing.

Expand full comment

Yeah I know. Sometimes he's like Klay where he seems to take 3s that may not be in the flow of the offense. Although maybe he always has the green light.

Aimaq looked bad the first 5 min of the game.
