i just realized that since i spatchcocked the turkey it is only going to take 1.5-2 hours to cook

so now i have more time this morning than i thought i would

Never had it cooked that way. Obviously it cooks faster, but how is the taste/texture? Had a fried turkey a few times. I don’t like turkey, but fried turkey was fantastic, although it was a mess to clean up.

i will keep you posted. i have not done the fried turkey, but ever since we got the BGE (big green egg) we have been roasting turkey in there. it turns out fantastic. never dry, juicy, moist, crispy skin.

that being said it is stiff turkey which is not the most flavorful of meats.

thought i would try something different this year ...

Be careful, this was a family blog!

What is a common Thanksgiving dish you serve that might not be considered "normal"?

My grandmother used to make a delicious Chinese chicken salad side dish for Thanksgiving and similar gatherings. Sort of like the one you can get at Chef Chu's, but better. She would also make a soup which, in retrospect, didn't look that good as it was grayish, but it was super tasty. What was in it? I'm not really sure.

Vandy's kicking specialists are in Covid quarantine. They may be the first P5 football team to start a woman.

Going all of about 1 mile to my daughters' house. Plenty of time to watch the parade on tv. There are good things even during difficult times.

It is Thanksgiving, right? I'm confused because the cherry trees on the next block are suddenly showing some blossoms.
