Ryan Glover. He transferred to Memphis to play his sixth year. He is second on the depth chart at Memphis. He has been in four games, but he really only played against North Alabama (FCS) going 4/5 for 29 yards, 18 coming on a single play.
Red shirted his first year, ran 4 times for 9 yards and had 2 special teams tackles. He was reportedly unhappy with his lack of playing time and hit the transfer portal and went back to his hometown in Las Vegas for 2019. He had 1 special teams tackle and then quit the team due to a lack of passion for football. He now is a professional MMA fighter.
2 seasons, playing 12 games with 36 receptions and 478 yards and 3 TDs. He transferred after the 2020 Covid year, following the Mad Pirate to MS State. It was rumored that his family thought he had a better shot at the NFL at MS State. He became the leading receiver at MS State getting 105 catches for 1046 yards and 9 TDs in 13 games. He declared early for the draft. He went undrafted. Was cut from Baltimore practice squad and then signed to the NY Giants practice squad. He makes $11.5k/week of the season.
Kleo on Netflix, anyone? 8 eps of "fall of the Berlin Wall-era" spy stuff, but with a comedic edge. (Tying into the other DBD item...a bit Slow Horses-ish.)
Slow Horses premiered episodes 1-2 of this season on Friday - sorry if we discussed this - but this show moves a lot faster this season now they don't have to establish Jackson Lamb as a asshole who farts a lot, but is also really excellent at his job.
It's like he always cheats Death by playing checkers instead of chess and shamelessly daring him to do something about it. Death, unlike Trump, is bound by rules.
I turned on the TV last night after dinner. When surfing through the sports channels I happened on the NCAA women's soccer final. UCLA scored to tie with 16 seconds left then won in OT.
Coach Prime does give off strong "prepare for sanctions" vibes, if sanctions still exist. I'm sure he will be a continuous flight risk if he does succeed. Absolutely the correct hire for a program mired in the dumps even if things get ugly in a few years.
Definitely high risk/high reward and the right one for a program in their position to make, but the NCAA doesn't seem to really be a thing. The risk is less athletics or money passing hands as it is that he doesn't win games and they are stuck with an onerous contract.
Agreed. With the portal a high-profile program can reboot in a year. The key is becoming a desirable destination. That success may not be sustainable but it can at least break a cycle of mediocrity.
Exactly. I don’t think either Dillingham or Prime are longterm answers at their new schools, but they’ll reboot quickly while Wilcox spins his wheels to 4-8 again.
Atlanta Hawks announcer has an on-air medical problem. He's stable and expected to recover. [NSWF: it's unpleasant to watch, but it's helpful to know what a seizure looks like so you can go into action if you see one happening].
If you see this happen, gently ease the victim to the floor. Do not restrain, have them bite something, or worry about them swallowing their tongue. Calmly reassure the person even if doesn't look like they are responsive. Note how long the seizure lasts. Watch the person. If they vomit, put them on their side. Once the seizure ends, watch the person to see if a second one comes. If a second one comes, call 911 - otherwise, the person should be fine to go to the hospital via car. No food or drink should be given to the victim due to the risk of vomit aspiration. Be ready to help them recover with dignity as soiling themselves sometimes happens.
Watched a portion of Facebook Live interview with Chancellor Christ earlier today that the UCB Public Relations team ran. Went over a myriad of issues--budget, labor relations, Peoples Park, but also touch on Pac-12 realignment. Again, Christ pressed that the Olympic sports don't get enough attention, which analogous to me complaining to my daughter that they made better music when I was her age. I think Christ is a great chancellor, but she does not get athletics and seems particularly disinterested in the outsized role that football and MBB play in the overall picture of athletics and even the University at large.
I'll be there. If they play like they did against Arizona (a GIANT if) they'll win a handful of games in the Pac. But that may have been a "play up to the competition" game - since we also played decently against K-State.
This. I try not to do more than 3 over when I'm driving in VA. They can get you with reckless driving for going over 80 (which isn't that tough to do when overtaking left lane campers on stretches of I-81 where the speed limit is 70).
I can't comment on the new commit post.
Something that was difficult, won’t be perceived as a major accomplishment by outsiders, and yet you’re proud of it.
Weird Substack behavior: whenever I hit a "new reply" button it takes me to the top of this page. Is this happening for anyone else?
It was refusing to let me post for most of the day.
Thanks to whoever fixed it!

Wow, that's tough.

2. Special Counsel subpoenas AZ, MI, WI officials' communications with Trump reported.
3. Florida appeals court rejects Michael Flynn's attempt to block Fulton County grand jury subpoena.

And still so much more to go. The investigations will probably continue through the end of Trump's lifespan.
