BERKELEY – Nikolaos Papanikolaou has conquered just about everything there is to conquer in collegiate water polo. Now, he's taking it to the next level.

On Wednesday, the two-time national player of the year and three-time NCAA champion received a call-up to compete for a spot on the Greek men's water polo national team, which will be playing in both the men's water polo European Championship and World Aquatics Championship in the coming months.

The good news: Cal Football (84) is above average GSR (82) for FBS programs for 2023.

https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/research/gradrates/2023/2023D1RES_GSRTrends.pdf

Cal is also tied for 3rd for highest GSR in the Pac-12

The bad news: Cal will have the sixth worst GSR in the ACC

Baratza Encore. I've had this one for about 5 years (?), I think. I bought it refurbished from Baratza for $99 plus tax and shipping. As it turns out, the motor I replaced was about 9 years old if I am deciphering the date on the label correctly.

I am highly reluctant to pay for a schmancy burr grinder when the Encore will do the job just fine, thankyouverymuch.

I am also the person who finally broke down and bought an *electric* burr grinder after using a Hario hand crank burr grinder for months and months. I reverted back to the Hario while the Baratza was out of commission.

On the way to Paris, I flew to Nashville to help No 2 replace the door actuator in his car. The alarm was randomly going off and while driving sometimes he'd see the dash show the left rear door was open. This was a well known issue on the interwebz. It would've cost 600+ for a shop to repair it and I needed a couple more takeoffs and landings to keep status so I changed my flight to Paris to go from Nashville (same price) and bought a ticket to go to Nashville (I think just over 200).

I bought the part and flew out. Got there and when I was about to go out to the car to fix it, I opened up the packaging and realized a plastic part broke off so I couldn't replace the part. The dealer that sold me the part got me my money back and now it'll cost me 600+ to get the shop to replace the part.

No 2 is a grown ass adult. Why is it going to cost YOU $600?

i think it is complicated .. they dont really stop costing you for a while. at least that is what i am told and sort of preparing for.

As an oldest, I recognize what you're saying. My oldest is just like his dad, only more successful and better organized.

One of his complaints about being older, although he didn't realize it at the time, was, "How come you treat (Double D) differently?"

"Because you're older. You're the first; the trailblazer."

It's inevitable and I'm sure that those of you with kids know this. You make most of your mistakes with your oldest, you're toughest on the oldest, and you expect more from your oldest. It can't be helped.

Ted Cruz wants to run for president in 2028. How will he and how was he allowed to run since the 14th Amendment appears to disqualify him because he is not a "natural born US citizen"?

Because his mother is American, which makes him a natural born American. John McCain was born in the Canal Zone, but since his parents were both American, he's American by birth.

Steph Curry, Jonathan Kuminga lead Warriors to 110-106 comeback win over Blazers

https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2023/12/6/23991709/steph-curry-jonathan-kuminga-lead-warriors-comeback-win-trail-blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are a bad NBA team. When the front office decided to trade franchise icon Damian Lillard last offseason, the organization was capitulating on the 2023-24 season. They were no longer focused on the playoffs. They were focused on developing for the future. Yet that Blazers team, which was missing several of their best players, nearly beat the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night, before a comeback nabbed the Dubs a 110-106 win.

Expand full comment

I woke up at 415 AM and realized the Warriors were playing so I watched part of Q1 and all of Q2. Not playing well with lots of TOs and missing lots of open looks. Fell back asleep during halftime wondering why Kuminga wasn't getting any run. Woke up shocked that they beat the Blazers and that Kuminga was put in and key to the win.
