i find it very interesting that certain types of clouds only occur in certain geographies. \

there is something special about the clouds in Canada in the flat parts of AB, SK, MB. they are poofy on top but flat along the bottom.

Rudy Giuliani, who has already lost his defamation case against two GA poll workers - is in the damages phase. He repeats the claims to reporters that got him the defamation case in the first place. That's a bold strategy, Cotton.

Maybe Uncle Rudy has dementia. Or maybe he's just a bully who doesn't know how or when to turn it off. Either way, this is a civil trial but no amount of money will restore the good name of the plaintiffs and they will always be looking over their shoulder because Giuliani's defamation.

Ja Morant says he punched a teenager at his house in self-defense because the teen pulled up his shorts, which he interpreted as assault.

Titans come from 14 behind with 4.5 minutes to go, beat Dolphins 28-27 in a thriller

I wonder what the odds were when the Titans fell down by 14 with maybe just 3:30 left in the game. Like maybe a 3% win probability?

My first thought after it ended was: "Oh, so Tua isn't actually all that good, is he?"

Maybe that's unfair based on one game, but man did his decisions look bad.

Tyreek is indispensable, so that definitely changed things BUT Tua really struggles when pressured in clear passing downs…plenty of Derek Carr to his game when the McDaniels running game isn’t a threat.

Levis made some big throws that he had not been making yet as a pro, so tip your cap…but it’s tough to buy Miami as a SB contender when they blow a late 14-point lead to a suspect Tennessee team missing its best player.

If you missed it from yesterday, Shohei Ohtani Day will be thousands times bigger than Bobby Bonilla Day

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39092632/shohei-ohtani-defer-680m-deal-dodgers-sources

Expand full comment

The deferred money makes a mockery of MLB’s silly luxury tax

Expand full comment

But the Dodgers will be penalized starting 2034(?) when Freddie, Mookie, and Ohtani will be on the books for like 80 million and not on the roster. So 26 million per year saved for the first 10 years, but then "owe" 46 million per year for the next 10.

Expand full comment

I was thinking from Ohtani’s POV, the owners have to guarantee operating expenses. So as to risk of nonpayment he’s really relying on the owners’ wherewithal. But what if they sell team? He will have a new guarantor with no real say in who it is - pretty odd. I guess they have to put some money in an escrow acct though (difference between what he gets and the AAV), so maybe not quite so bad

Expand full comment

Yeah I think they pay 68 mil to the escrow account and it's paid out. I read it's present day value so less than 68 million, maybe closer to 44.

Expand full comment

I wonder if the dodgers front office is thinking, "did we pay him too much?" because perhaps Shohei didn't really care for all that money

Expand full comment

Depends on what the Blue Jays offer was. Did they go just over or did they really exceed it?

Expand full comment

true. I'm glad he stayed in LA, but Dodger Stadium is a bit too far for me.

With Ohtani to LA to join Betts and Freeman, and Soto off to NY to join Judge and Cole, it looks horrible for the sport to the common fan. Cheap big market teams like the Giants don’t help things.

Expand full comment

I could be wrong, but I really don’t think either NYY or LAD makes the WS next year unless they both keep adding a lot of guys (Yamamoto?). LAD does not have the starting pitching, and the Yanks are several pieces away. If the Doyers do get Yamamoto though and get some their starters healthy, then yeah they look pretty tough. But, so do the Braves, so do the Phillies

Oh and btw, did that dude on Oregon who was the back up transfer when Gabriel went there? I can’t recall his name, but he looked really good in the limited action I saw of him, would totally take him!
