I'm not a gamer so the fact that even I know that some game called Cyberpunk 2077 is so bad that people are able to get no-questions-asked refunds tells me that something really hit the fan
they released it to early. It had already delayed delayed delayed and they wanted to get the Xmas sales benefit... sadly, it was too effed up on the older consoles to be playable so they are taking the hit. My son has it on PC and LOVES it. Being in the industry at a company that has made bad moves like this, I feel their pain because they put out really great games usually.
Haha, no time, what I have dubbed "The Stupid Lawsuit" a subrogation lawsuit by an insurance company to try to recover $90,000 they paid to a tenant in one my building for a camera stolen from his truck at night.
Quarantine life has me wanting a new Cal hoodie, but also means I should avoid non-essential activities and can't go to the student store to look at new hoodies.
I took the option of Chem 4abc rather then Chem 1 abc since it crammed in Chem 5 as well, so you got qualitative and quantitative together. Do they still do that? I don't think so. Also took Chem 12ab and Chem 109a. Which were sort of tough.
I loved Chemistry in 8th grade, was the lab assistant for the chem teacher, dabbled with trying to read college level chemistry books - this was what was a surprisingly good education at RAF base in England. However, by the time I was in the 11th grade in Alabama - 100% that class was a waste of my time, didn't learn anything new, and actually kind of dulled my interest in the subject.
i took it twice in HS (10th and 12th) and generally liked it, on the other hand i wasnt too interested in it aside from the atoms and nuclear part that was mostly physics.
luckily i had the same good teacher both times and i still remember much of it today.
my daughter is currently taking AP Chem in HS. she likes it better than bio and physics, so we'll see what becomes of her science path ...
I had a really bad experience with chem in high school due to a terribly boring teacher who spoke in a monotone that matched the drone of the overhead projector. This combo resulted in my only C in high school and forever put me off on the subject. This kept me from earnestly pursuing sciences in college, which in retrospect I think I would have enjoyed. Particularly marine biology which I think would have been a great major or at least a minor for me.
TBF seeing all my friends in in college taking O Chem getting 30-40% on tests (and still getting B's in the class) also reinforced my decision that chemistry was not for me
Had to take Chem 1A as a prereq for engineering. It was brutal. My lab partner ended up being a girl that lived across the hall from me that I went to HS with so it was better that it was someone I knew. But 8 AM classes 3 days a week and 8-12 lab on Thurs (I think). Brutal and I didn't do well at all. Glad I was only an engineer and only had to take Chem 1A.
Yup. I'm pretty sure I made the mistake of putting my feet up in the PSL seats every class and fell asleep for a little bit in each 8 AM class I had there.
I don't know. Maybe some of it was the 8 AM classes and then having to stay up all night writing up the lab. That first semester was brutal. Math 50A, Chem 1A, Physics 7A. Didn't do well in any of the classes.
That's a pretty sizable academic load. Back in the day, I don't recall any advising that balanced and distributed workload. I'm not sure how much of that there is even these days; my experience with advising when my daughter was in school was that it was essentially totally useless on any matter of actual significance, where actual effective advising might be needed.
who knew that staying up late playing hearts and drinking a lot for the first time could have such an impact on how much you would study and go to class!
Chem 1a/b was fine. Chem 3a/b were awful and I've blocked as much as possible out. I had Chem 3b and Physics 7b finals in adjacent timeslots and spent the rest of the day dying of mental pain.
I know this won't be part of anyone else's experience here, but I only had to take a science / no lab class at SC because I'd passed out of the lab requirement from an AP. It was one of the first "general population" classes I took at SC after hiding in a freshman honors program and it was an eye opener to say the least.
Bro, my two science requests were fulfilled by Physics without Math and Genetics 10 (genetics for non-majors -- ask me about Mendel's peas). I did not science at all.
I didn't even have to take a "traditional science" class in an IT tech curriculum since I had not only Chemistry but Physics already from high school. Being 45 years ago, I don't recall if being in Calculus for by first 2 terms as my required math classes was a factor in that or not. They were correctly more focused on other ed for IT students being in accounting, since that was much more relevant to most of the careers in IT.
i took AP Chem in HS thinking that i would opt out of a required course that i had no interest in. i was shocked to find that physics majors didnt need to take Chemistry. i get that it doesnt fall in the path of what you need to know, but it still seemed strange since i figured they should be producing more well rounded scientists that knew physics, chemistry and biology.
Browsing around the School of Chemistry page right now...has O-Chem always been Chem 12a/b? I thought it used to be Chem51a/b. Or maybe I'm thinking of some other course.
In the 70s the Chem series for the pre-med track was Chem 1A/1B/1C followed by O-Chem: Chem 8a/8b. What was I even thinking? My engineering friends took the Chem 4 series.
I never thought all the hype about Herbert was justified, he never even looked that good in College, but man, the NFL seems to agree with him. Maybe those scouts actually know something. Nice to see Mariota shine a bit; hasn't had the easiest path in the league.
I thought the Raiders holder went down a second too early. Could've given the Bolts a Hail Mary chance, which means it would've worked. I'm a little surprised they didn't review the clock.
WAC football may be re-forming as an upper-tier FCS conference.
Stevie F. Austin authorized to join. Rumors that Lamar, Abilene Christian, Sam Houston State are in and are courting the existing WAC members who were forced out of conference (Cal Baptist, NMSU).
Former D II Dixie State, which is in Utah, not "Dixie", is transitioning directly to DI, and the WAC is talking with a couple of FBS Big Sky schools as well. The logical thing would have been for the Big West to restart football, but that would make too much sense, so this new group is eyeing what the Sun Belt has accomplished, and planning on doing something similar.
Report: U Hawaii football in a bind as Aloha Stadium closed and on track to be condemned. The replacement stadium won't be built until 2023. Next biggest stadium seats about 5,000 people.
I went to the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl and I was surprised at just how old and dilapidated Aloha Stadium was, keep in mind I’m from San Diego and went to Cal so I have been to both Qualcomm and the Oakland Coliseum so I know dilapidated stadiums.
I attended the 96 Aloha Bowl and even as a ten year old I remember being surprised with how crappy that stadium was. Also being destroyed by Navy wasn't very encouraging.
I mean can they fill 5000? Isn't that like if Maples closed and Furd BB would have to move to the Menlo Atherton HS gym? They can't fill that gym either.
Your right about that! Be interesting to see if this will be Aloha to the Aloha/Hawaii Bowl for a couple more years after Covid passes until the new stadium is ready.
I get the impression at this point every school outside of the SEC is going to have someone creating rumors that Meyer is under consideration. The disgruntled SC alumni would lose their minds completely if UCLA somehow picked up Meyer though, which would be a little funny.
A lot of brand name programs are glad 12th ranked CC won't get another data point. If Cincy has trouble with Tulsa, CC could still wind up in a NY6 game, and there are a lot of coaches and coordinators at name brand programs in the south and on the east coast that wisely want no part of the Teal Chickens.
Good comp. I'm not sure they are as good a defense as those Broncos were, but they are by design VERY VERY multiple on offense, essentially built to out-produce their opponent. That said, they have won in a relatively low scoring game against a very physical team, 22-17 vs BYU.
Congress still can't come up with a budget plan. If they do, Kamala is ready to vote. I went by her apartment on the way back from Whole Foods and a Secret Service car was parked about ten feet from the building entrance. I saw police cars with lights flashing on the block on my way to the store and assumed she was getting back.
the Washington Monument has been closed because the Secretary of the Interior took a bunch of Trump appointees on a private tour and then tested positive for the 'rona 🙄
High turnout in GA Senate Run-off early election, just below November rate. This mitigates some concern that DEMs historically do not vote as much in runoffs. Should still be very close races.

Throw in "Korean" and this would be the most FS URL ever.

Haha, no time, what I have dubbed "The Stupid Lawsuit" a subrogation lawsuit by an insurance company to try to recover $90,000 they paid to a tenant in one my building for a camera stolen from his truck at night.
It's absurd.
Great photo, Bro
Cal gear
anyone have any favorite Cal sweatpants they love?
need some more coronavirus friendly pants for the house
Quarantine life has me wanting a new Cal hoodie, but also means I should avoid non-essential activities and can't go to the student store to look at new hoodies.
I wear simple blue sweats. goes with everything cal related no trouble.
My fave lounge pants a flannel pj's from J. Crew.

Took all of those and 3 semesters of bio-chem. COME AT ME BRO

He got the vaccine early!

Had to take Chem 1A as a prereq for engineering. It was brutal. Curious what made that brutal?
ALL 8AM classes are brutal.
The only reason I showed up to my (optional) 8AM physics discussion section was because the GSI was cute.
physics GSI/TAs are known to be cute.
in fact, my wife was told by her roommate to "check out my cute physics TA"
now we've been married 22 yrs ...
aww
I don't believe I ever had a term where the day started that late.
Yup. I'm pretty sure I made the mistake of putting my feet up in the PSL seats every class and fell asleep for a little bit in each 8 AM class I had there.

i think we were all so optimistic about how much we could handle 1st semester freshman year.
who knew that staying up late playing hearts and drinking a lot for the first time could have such an impact on how much you would study and go to class!
I would go across the hall and play the latest Ultima with someone who would end up being my roommate the next year.

I only had that one chem class and no math at all.
I had a chemistry for non majors class...that was essentially it for me
I didn't even have to take a "traditional science" class in an IT tech curriculum since I had not only Chemistry but Physics already from high school. Being 45 years ago, I don't recall if being in Calculus for by first 2 terms as my required math classes was a factor in that or not. I also took AP Chem in high school too. Not my favorite course I'd have to say.

Are you thinking Math 51? I think that used to be one of the common classes.
there was Math 50A/50B which was linear algebra and vector calc.
it seems that it is now Math 53/54
but 51 seems a little familiar. maybe discrete math? but i never took it ...
I think you're right--I was thinking of Math 53/54.
It was Chem 3A/B for me. Also, I noted that east coast friends said orgo, while west coast friends said o-chem.
I thought it was 51-a/b as well. As everyone always said back in the day, it was the med school weed out class.

Pass defense was optional as the Chargers win the battle of the Oregon QBs
https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1339794479272759296
Special teams were optional too, as that game featured a 19-yard punt and THREE botched field goals in the final four minutes.
I thought the Raiders holder went down a second too early. Could've given the Bolts a Hail Mary chance, which means it would've worked. I'm a little surprised they didn't review the clock.

That would set the Bruins back another 5 years. I don't think the new AD is that daft.

Good luck, and Go Bears!!!
Better to avoid risk of injury and make the jump to the NFL sooner rather than later.
He'll be a 2nd day pick and in the right system, could definitely make some noise. Great kid.
I'll be mildly surprised if he gets drafted... he lacks NFL speed IMO.
He will be selected in the draft but I see him more as a 4th-6th round pick. I would be mildly surprised if he went I drafted.
If you have a draft pick, you should take a flyer on him!
I think 5th rounder is more likely than late 3rd....but he'll get drafted. He may surprise with a better-than-expected 40 on a fast track...

The Raiders secondary clearly has no chemistry at least Mariota's rejuvenation was a good enough birthday present for this year.
Haven't heard much from Mariota lately. I guess he's not the big franchise QB anymore.
I forgot he was the backup to Carr until last night. I suppose that is due to a lack of preseason games this year so I lost track of where some players are this season.
Very well paid as a back-up.
