Perhaps a light volume day for y’all since some get Xmas Eve off, but others may not. Hence, we have a DBD today. We’ll return on Monday with our next DBD.
What album can you put on a have it play several times and not even notice it.
I watched this a while back. Outside of selling an energy drink/shot with questionable scientific bases behind it, Marshawn is always a delight and I love his ease with Conan.
All the heavy dark beers (especially the barrel-aged ones) released this time of year. But I also won't turn down a bit of eggnog (in fact, I just put a bottle in the fridge about an hour ago).
I got some Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA yesterday. Will have a little whiskey this eve then a glass of wine or two for dinner, repaste is beef bourguignon.
i make a light cherry vodka and a spiced cherry vodka every year in Jul. the spiced one is particularly good during the holiday season. there are also now various vintages of leftover half bottles from the years i have been making it.
thanks for the reminder about Armangnac.
i have a semi-decent collection of Italian Amaro's. fun to sample after dinner
Chill vs Work are two different groups - but I use a lot of Atticus Ross x Trent Reznor soundtracks to work to - especially the Social Network and Watchmen.
Morcheeba -- Big Calm especially, but I have a playlist of all of Morcheeba and all of Zero 7 and it's what I use when I need to metaphorically lower my blood pressure.
I have a hard time listening to music while doing something else. I start listening to the music and not doing whatever else I was supposed to be doing.
Terry Bowden named head coach a Louisiana-Monroe. He's been a head coach at a handful of places, including Auburn. What has he been doing the last couple years? He's been an unpaid graduate intern at Clemson while working on a graduate degree in athletic leadership. This despite that he did post-graduate study at Oxford and has a JD.
Yeah, I had the same first reaction. Rather than genuinely believing that Terry Bowden wants the education/degree, it feels like a way to circumvent the rule on the number of coaches that a team could have for a powerhouse program like Clemson.
Biden appoints Education Secretary with an outrageous dearth of experience in MLM sales empires, fraudulent Stanfurd blood testing investment, or producing of Broadway shows featuring music by Kathy Lee Gifford.
Passing that amendment could have made just enough of a difference in the razor-thin GA Senate races for the GOP to hold both seats. It could have neutralized the effect of the attack ads painting Loeffler and Perdue as callous and indifferent in their response to the public's needs during the pandemic.
Up to this point there has been no real judicial review of pardons, are some of these cases potentially the sort that could get challenged? But who would have standing to challenge? It's clearly abuse of the system, but how to manage/regulate while allowing enough freedom for a President to do the right thing?
Since we're not having a Christmas Day DBD, Happy Holidays everyone!

@_Zeets: Marshawn talking about asking for help and his honorary degree is so wonderful

Yay thanks!

I thought I remember Marshawn playing Madden with Conan way back when, like at least 10 years ago. I may have to go dig that up.
Favorite Holiday Libation?
The next one
All the heavy dark beers (especially the barrel-aged ones) released this time of year. But I also won't turn down a bit of eggnog (in fact, I just put a bottle in the fridge about an hour ago).
I'm actually drinking "Death by Coconut" a potter, gift from some tenants.
I got some Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA yesterday. Will have a little whiskey this eve then a glass of wine or two for dinner, repaste is beef bourguignon.
Going to try some of this IPA that I picked up this weekend myself.
Before dinner: Champagne With dinner: Red wine. With dessert: Armangnac, or maybe vintage Port. Late night: Scotch.
i make a light cherry vodka and a spiced cherry vodka every year in Jul. the spiced one is particularly good during the holiday season. there are also now various vintages of leftover half bottles from the years i have been making it.

Ch-ch-ch-chia!
https://kcby.com/news/local/bags-of-chia-seeds-wash-ashore-on-central-coast-near-florence-and-newport
This was apparently Florence, Oregon...rather than Chia seeds washed ashore the riverbanks of the Arno in Italy
In my first job out of Berkeley Ianded the Chia Pet account...
Album to chill
Chill vs Work are two different groups - but I use a lot of Atticus Ross x Trent Reznor soundtracks to work to - especially the Social Network and Watchmen.
I regret letting go my vinyl collection several years ago.
Morcheeba -- Big Calm especially, but I have a playlist of all of Morcheeba and all of Zero 7 and it's what I use when I need to metaphorically lower my blood pressure.
Downbeat music...
I do listen to music to work, I have for years, but it's rarely "chill" music, that's not my style.
In my college days, I used the second half of Moby's "Play" to help me go to sleep.
I have a hard time listening to music while doing something else. I start listening to the music and not doing whatever else I was supposed to be doing.
Dubnobasswithmyheadman by Underworld is an oldie but remains a goody
Stan Getz is good.
so are many things classical like Mozart piano sonatas
Southeastern by Jason Isbell
Elsewhere in college
Looks like I was prophetic in predicting younger Garber's transfer from UW. He is in the portal now.
https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-husky-football/uw-huskies-freshman-quarterback-ethan-garbers-enters-transfer-portal/
UW now only has 1 scholarship QB until Huard shows up.
Damn wonder where he is going to go.
As I said in the Arizona thread. So far programs are a perfect 10 for 10 in hiring white head coaches this cycle.
This struck me as a good get for a program that's in need of both a turnaround and some credibility and visibility all in one.
Oxford has been on a 5 year losing streak to Cambridge!
No doubt. I just thought that Clemson using him as a grad intern was somehow off.
Yeah, I had the same first reaction. Rather than genuinely believing that Terry Bowden wants the education/degree, it feels like a way to circumvent the rule on the number of coaches that a team could have for a powerhouse program like Clemson.
Like I said before, CFB is unregulated authoritarian capitalism.

Elizabeth Holmes Fraud Trial Delayed Again. One of the biggest con jobs ever in Silicon Valley

She should have plead guilty so trump could have pardoned her.
all he absorbed was "woman" and "blood" and he panicked.
Seriously. I'd bet George Shultz would have advocated for it.
White House issues a press release explaining why Trump vetoed the defense bill. It confirmed that it was because of his stupid-ass reasons of:
1) didn't contain language to punitively regulate social media companies on the back of Diaper Don trending on Twitter
2) didn't want to remove Confederate Leader names from bases
3) slow down 5G network roll-out (the was the "China" non-sequitur he used).

House GOP rejected the amendment to upgrade payment to $2k. Will try to override veto on Monday as-is.

Passing that amendment could have made just enough of a difference in the razor-thin GA Senate races for the GOP to hold both seats. It could have neutralized the effect of the attack ads painting Loeffler and Perdue as callous and indifferent in their response to the public's needs during the pandemic.
More pardons. Manafort and his son-in-law's father get pardons
Up to this point there has been no real judicial review of pardons, are some of these cases potentially the sort that could get challenged? But who would have standing to challenge? It's clearly abuse of the system, but how to manage/regulate while allowing enough freedom for a President to do the right thing?
Easy to find people to pardon when you hang around with so many criminals.
