Next time you're in Rotterdam, Finland, London, or Zurich- it might be an opportunity to pilot your own wood-fired hot-tub boat

https://www.rentahottug.nl/locaties.htm

DC Trojan's avatar

I would have assumed a hot tug was more of an Amsterdam service

Ruey Yen's avatar

They did show the contestants competing in hot tugs in Amsterdam in one of the Amazing Race seasons. Looking it up, it was The Amazing Race 26 back in 2015.

DC Trojan's avatar

did it have a happy ending?

Asian + Latin American fusion food

SGBear's avatar

Filippino food. Some of the more famous national dishes like adobo and lechón have Spanish origins.

g.oso's avatar

and funnily enough, filipino menudo is NOTHING like mexican menudo

g.oso's avatar

Birria Ramen. For those in the Bay Area, hit up La Santa Torta. They have multiple trucks; one in downtown Oakland, one usually posted up at Richmond Costco and one in SF.

To me that just sounds like food.

I was just about to mention them! Ultimate Chinese-Mex fusion.

weird...looks like Comedy Central now requires login to watch streams (I was trying to watch last night's Daily Show). And xfinity isn't listed. That or previously I did login using xfinity but now it isn't allowed.

Looks like I'll need to resort to other means to watch last night's episode.

Ruey Yen's avatar

For me at least, it's now easier to stream shows through the xfinity streaming website than the other channel's website with an xfinity login. The slight annoyance here is that my browser's adblocker used to get rid of ads during the streams (though that's been mostly patched now...I think ABC is the only major channel where this still works) but doesn't work through the xfinity stream page.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Can you stream shows that have already aired? I Guess I've never tried that.

Ruey Yen's avatar

Yes, it's designed for that. There is occasionally an only in your home network restriction at times. The cable companies and different channels have different agreements.

sycasey's avatar

In my experience, Comedy Central has been truly awful at understanding how streaming works.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I've never had a problem watching the Daily Show episodes. This is the first time in probably 2+ years that I've had a problem with "logging in"

g.oso's avatar

watched Ep 1 of Allen vs Farrow on HBO, detailing the relationship of Woody and Mia and the fallout over the child molestation allegations. It was a difficult watch

sycasey's avatar

I would also watch this with the knowledge that it's very slanted towards the Farrow side. Woody, Soon-Yi, and other estranged siblings will not be featured.

For me, the more I look into this situation the less certain I am about what actually happened.

g.oso's avatar

without a doubt it's completely one-sided

sycasey's avatar

The only thing I'm really sure about is that that household seemed completely toxic on all sides (except for Ronan Farrow, I guess).

DC Trojan's avatar

At some point, when a man with a personal history with young and / underaged women has a series of films with recurring themes about older men with underaged girls, you have to assume that the smoke is from a raging fire.

sycasey's avatar

Well, in my view there is a difference between being into teenaged/young adult women and little kids. And the latter is a really big question here.

Cugel's avatar

Zero interest here. Icky

Tangtpt's avatar

We just started watching season 2 of Tough as Nails. It is an unusual reality competition show because you really grow to like everybody in it. There's nobody truly obnoxious that you learn to hate. The competition is about who can do various challenges of manual labor in the best and most efficient manner. Competitors are all blue collar workers who are there to win some money for their family. Phil Koeghan (from Amazing Race) produces and hosts it.

Nike used to be one of the few shoe companies that made wide shoes, so I used to exclusively buy them. Ever since I moved back to the US, I no longer buy them because I gained access to Zappos and don't want to fund Phil Knight.

rocksanddirt's avatar

I'm not super particular about sneakers type shoes. For the work boots I wear most of the time....Usually get Red Wings. They make nearly all of their shoes in a multitude of sizes and widths.

GoldenSD81's avatar

I only buy Solomon and Adidas for shoes. Flojos for flip flops.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

++ on Salomon, i have multiple hiking boots as well as ski boots

GoldenSD81's avatar

Yeah, I bought my first pair of Salomons when the wife and I went on our Machu Pichu trip back in 2015 and have never went back. I have hiking boots and hiking shoes. The shoes I generally wear to work.

Trump's accountants Mazars handed over millions of pages of financial documents earlier this week. After years of doubting whether anything would stick to these crooks, I have never been more hopeful that we'll see Trump, Manafort, Bannon, and others actually in NY State jail and the Trump Organization facing financial distress.

2 things

1. i listened to some conservative talk radio while driving yesterday. while there were plenty of inaccuracies and blind spots in their arguments, the tone was very civil and not ranting/raving/yelling as one might imagine it is.

the main themes were "self sufficiency instead of govt help and intervention", "we are the party of law and order", "all-american pride in being able to figure stuff out and solve problems"

2. there was an ad for something called podium, but in the ad they had to make a point of spelling it out, p-o-d-i-u-m. i thought that was funny ...

sycasey's avatar

I really wish self-sufficiency and law-and-order were actually the operating principles of the current Republican Party, then maybe we could have productive compromises with them.

OskiOfTarth's avatar

I had heard that there are actually reasonable republicans out in the wild. But wonder how that show stays on the air when there’s no screaming.

DC Trojan's avatar

this story about the woman who was arrested for stealing Nancy Pelosi's laptop is wild. https://www.bellingcat.com/news/americas/2021/02/24/woman-accused-of-stealing-nancy-pelosis-laptop-appears-in-video-making-nazi-salute/

I think that earnest liberals have a tendency to try and medicalize the causes for people's bad behavior when they are just assholes, but looking at that article you could be forgiven for thinking there's something genuinely wrong with the young woman.

DC Trojan's avatar

also you'll be shocked to learn that the odious Marjorie Taylor Greene has a close political ally who was running around in the Capitol building on Jan 6th.

DC Trojan's avatar

Representative Taylor Greene is just a monumental asshole.

Cugel's avatar

Well ok then, but what else would explain that?

GoldenSD81's avatar

Speeding, sketchy turn, distracted driver on his cell phone, and Stanford education.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

It's an area of RPV that is known to be winding...easy to lose control if you're speeding in a loner-Genesis, as he was....

CruzinBears's avatar

It's definitely a sketchy turn and it is very easy to speed on the downhill.

Cugel's avatar

Yeah, my wife (who thinks I drive too fast) was all about speeding, but I think some other element, a distraction of some sort must have been added to the mix.

goldenone's avatar

Apparently the grade is tough at that spot in the road and drivers take the curve at too high of a speed and sometimes get in single car accidents.

GoldenSD81's avatar

I’m guessing this is a cap and salary issues rather than performance. In his one appearance last season he played very well coming off the bench and probably should have won that game.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

So, Mariota's contract is the issue...there IS genuine interest in him (apparently by the Pats) and at first glance, his contract is friendly (about $10M per I think)...HOWEVER, his current contract is incentive-laden, with about $10-$12M tied into playing time bonuses....so, all of a sudden, you deal for Marcus, make him your starter, and Mariota is now a $20M+ qb, AND he costs you a pick. That market dried up, and teams will wait to see if the Raiders just cut him...probably the best thing for all parties.

SGBear's avatar

According to the spring roster, Cal has seven 6th-year athletic seniors. Who are they (without cheating)?

goldenone's avatar

Ummm...I would guess Elijah Hicks, Josh Drayden, Cam Goode. We'll that's three...can anyone guess the other four?

Justbear's avatar

Hicks should be 5th year. He came in when we had no HC so year 5, same as Wilcox.

I think Kekoa Crawford is another.

SGBear's avatar

Drayden, Goode, Crawford are correct.

Hicks is a 5th year.

Hint: 3 of the other 4 transferred in

re: Goody Two Shoes - it's one of two Adam and the Ants songs for which I misheard lyrics for years. For some reason I heard "Send a treasure token, token" as ""send the judge a token, token."
