SANTA CRUZ - California men's golf found themselves at the top of the leaderboard after the first round of the Western Intercollegiate Monday. The Bears shot a 7-under par 343 Monday, and currently lead second place UNLV by one stroke heading into the second round.
The California baseball team is back at Stu Gordon Stadium this week to start its five-game homestand after going 4-0 on the road last week. The Golden Bears will host a rematch with San Jose State on Wednesday before welcoming in Louisville for an ACC weekend series that begins Friday.
The California women's water polo team has secured its fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, selected as the No. 4 seed for the coming 2026 National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship. The Golden Bears carry a 14-7 overall record into the event, which will be held April 28-28 at UC San Diego.
The Lead: After falling to Stanford 4-2 at home last Sunday, the 10th-seeded and 44th-ranked California men's tennis team will travel to Cary, North Carolina to compete in their second ACC Championships. They will face 15th-seeded and 52nd-ranked Georgia Tech in the first round of the tournament.
Ten members of the California men's gymnastics team have been recognized as MPSF All-Academic honorees for the 2026 season, as announced by the conference Monday.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, have completed at least one full year at their institution prior to the current season, possess a 3.00-or-better cumulative GPA and have competed in at least 50% of their team's competitions that season.

Cross Season 2 - (18/19 - Amazon Prime). A series based on the Alex Cross books by James Patterson. I've never read the books but I really like the series with Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross.
You may recognize him from Leverage and Hawkman in the DC films. I loved Leverage and Leverage: Redemption.
i changed the stock Tahoe background to a photo of Tahoe that i took. i think it was the time HAG, No 3, and I went for a short hike near Sand Harbor and we hiked up to a place called Monkey Rock.
yesterday's was a strange/tough one for me. here is what Wordlebot had to say.
on round 2 > XXXXX was a solid guess, and a lucky one. There is just one possible solution left, as far as I can tell. You should solve the puzzle on your next turn.
it still took my 5 turns because i guessed other words!
round 3 -- There was only one possible solution left — and this wasn’t it. XXXXX is a valid guess and you have a great vocabulary, but Wordle typically uses more common words as solutions.

haha...I was thinking that. Did they lose as soon as they hired Vitello? Talking with JC he thinks the owners aren't interested in winning, just not spending a lot of money.
As two starting pitchers delivered starts on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to efficiency, Justin Wrobleski and the Dodgers got the better of David Peterson and the Mets in a 4-0 win. Wout Van Aert wins Paris-Roubaix in sprint showdown w/ world champ, Pogacar.
Sunday's race was about as good as it gets. all of the big 3, Van Der Poel (3x defending champ), Pogacar (world champ and possible GOAT), Van Aert (so many close finishes) had major issues with bike changes and punctures and mechanical issues on the cobblestone stretches of Northern France.
in the end, Van Der Poel had the most critical issue and lost 2 min that he could never recover from. Van Aert wins in dramatic fashion denying Pogacar a career "grand slam" of the 5 monuments for yet another year.

Calendars
at my new job (Israeli company) i am sitting in on a fun talk > How does the Hebrew calendar work?
TIL that the Hebrew months are actually Babylonian names since the original Hebrew months were just numbers.
Isn't the Hebrew calendar a lunar-solar calendar? That is, the months are tied to the lunar cycle, but the year is determined by agricultural milestones.
yes. it seems VERY complicated.
there used to be an "observational solar calendar" where some body of high priests would vote on if there should be a leap-month or not.

the good thing is that Mac will never run out of scenic places in CA to name the various iterations of their OS.
I didn't make it all the way up. My knee was bothering me I think and No 2 didn't want to go all the way up.
I always switch my OSX background to the Big Sur living background with the Bixby Bridge.
i forgot No 2 was with us too

I’ve gotten those “valid guess, but” messages many times. Very annoying.

Sharks beat the Preds, 3-2 and knocks them out of the playoff hunt. Kings get the last playoff spot with their win.
Giants don't lose the off-day
You sure about that?

What you're describing is owner malpractice... and greed.

also, the trophy is one of the best in cycling. you get an actual cobblestone for your efforts
