Darryn Peterson says high doses of creatine led to cramping

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48710416/darryn-peterson-says-high-doses-creatine-led-cramping

Darryn Peterson finally has an answer.

One of the top prospects in this year's NBA draft spent much of his freshman season at Kansas trying to solve mysterious and sometimes debilitating cramping. But in an extended interview with ESPN this week, Peterson said that a new round of bloodwork and other tests after the college basketball season led his doctors to conclude that his use of high doses of creatine created the condition.

The musical. Our HS did it at some point while I was there.

I was about a half mile from home finishing up my run waiting at a stoplight. A guy also waiting asked if I knew directions to the Tomb of the Unknowns. I live just outside Arlington Cemetery so walked with him to show him the cemetery entrance. The South Pacific connection is that he’s visiting from New Zealand. Had a nice conversation remembering when I visited there.

New Caledonia

TIL that New Caledonia was a French penal colony in a talk given by HAG's no 1 about art and the Paris Commune.

New Caledonia became a penal colony in 1864, and from the 1860s until the end of the transportations in 1897, France sent about 22,000 criminals and political prisoners to New Caledonia. The Bulletin de la Société générale des prisons for 1888 indicates that 10,428 convicts, including 2,329 freed ones, were on the island as of 1 May 1888, by far the largest number of convicts detained in French overseas penitentiaries. The convicts included many Communards, arrested after the failed Paris Commune of 1871, including Henri de Rochefort and Louise Michel.

heyalumnigo's avatar

The talk is still going on. Did you post this from the back of the hall?

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i left after the first hour and 2 talks about art. i figured there would be diminishing returns sitting thru 2 more.

going to go back at the end and catch up w/ no 1 and gf and see if they want lunch or something.

Just to be clear, his GF, right??

FANTA .. when i am feeling in a fun mood i rather like the variety of flavors.

in Rome there was some good variety and i think it was Cost Plus World Market where i recently found some good ones

Fanta Orange in Europe is almost like Orangina. WAY better than the US Fanta Orange.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i still find Fanta Orange in Europe MUCH sweeter than Orangina. i like them both.

in fact i like US Fanta Orange too. it is a family favorite.

I used to drink one Diet Coke a day. Before that, I drank one Coca-Cola a day regularly. But truthfully, it's probably been 5 or more years since I've had a soda at all, and it's been 25 years or more since I gave up drinking sodas regularly.

dcblue's avatar

I’m a one can a day Mountain Dew person. But the price has really gone up so I may be joining the no soda crowd.

FiatSlug's avatar

Tap water is a real bargain and it promotes good health. If your tap water has taste and odor problems, then bottled water is your next best bet, but I would love it if people didn't buy the plastic containers which are a pollution problem.

heyalumnigo's avatar

This is what I mostly drink. East Bay tap water is so good.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I very rarely drink coke now. Most of the time it's because I'm at Costco and getting hot dog and coke. Sometimes if I'm doing a long drive I'll get one.

IBC Root Beer, Cherry Coke, Mountain Dew Code Red, Cheerwine (essentially Cherry Coke)

Hate: Pepsi

Dr. Pepper, back in the day

Tangtpt's avatar

Dr. Pepper NOW! I rediscovered it in the last year and it is a wonderful alternative to Coke.

I also enjoy Sparkling Ice drinks (flavored carbonated water). Lemon-lime and fruit punch flavors when I'm not looking for a caffeinated drink.

heyalumnigo's avatar

In SE Asia I've tried other flavored Dr Pepper. I think it was Blackberry Dr Pepper. And also Cherry Dr Pepper. The cherry one was really good.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i know i am in the minority. i have a slight preference for Pepsi.

in recent times my favorite carbonated beverages have a bit more bite to them. either Fentimann's botanically brewed sodas (Curiosity Cola) or something classically Italian like chinotto.

Chinotto is a carbonated soft drink produced from the juice of the fruit of the myrtle-leaved orange tree. The beverage is dark in color. Its appearance is similar to that of cola, but it is not as sweet, having a bittersweet taste.

while i like the random guessing element of Wordle, i am wondering if it would be fun to have a solver with knowledge of the WordleBot dictionary.

turns out that this is not an original idea.

Raimondi Park Open Hours for April and May

https://www.oaklandballers.com/news/2026/04/open-hours-for-april-may

Raimondi Park is more than the home of the Oakland Ballers. It’s a place for the community to gather, play and use the field.

If you’re interested in stopping by during Open Hours, here’s everything you need to know about park access and reservations at Raimondi Park this spring:

Special Open Park Days

Before our regular weekly schedule begins, we have three open park days on the calendar:

Monday, April 28

Wednesday, April 30

Wednesday, May 7

All three days run from 3:30 PM to 5:00PM. No sign-up required, just show up ready to play.

Regular Open Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Once the Ballers hit the road, the park opens up on a rolling basis. When the team is traveling, Raimondi will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Check our game schedule to see when we are away and the field is yours.

OKC beats LA on key stretch w/ SGA on the bench.

didn't watch .. just reading about it

heyalumnigo's avatar

SGA foul baiter, Chet flopper. I didn't watch but this is my takeaway from No 2's comments.

If Steph got a fraction of SGA's foul calls... The problem is Steph plays through contact and doesn't throw his head back like he got a headshot (for the most part).
