I like the format. The chance that I'd read a traditional article on that topic is next to zero, but I scrolled all the way to the end of the interactive piece.
Mrs Slug was visiting her mother, who has been in the hospital with pulmonary edema. The younger son (Double D) had the day off, but spent it not with his mother or with me. The older son (CeeJay), was with his wife, who is expecting, and they were in SLO yesterday (I think).
Things really pile up for my family at the beginning of May. Both my daughter (May 3) and my wife (May 5) have birthdays, so the previous weeks are filled with a party for the kid and dinner out for the wife and so forth. Since we'd just been out the previous night and everyone seemed to be catching a cold, actual Mother's Day was just about getting brunch and lounging at home.
I spent the day with a friend in Louisville KY. She spent the day working. We observe Hallmark Card Holidays on alternative dates. We'll probably do it next week at my daughter's college graduation.
i remember spending most Father's Days at Divisional championships for rock climbing. it is always that weekend and the whole thing runs on parent volunteers to score and judge the youth climbers.
I can relate - my daughters both take dance, and the big five hour show is always on Father's Day weekend, which also seems to have the nicest weather of the year. Luckily, there's a good Irish bar across the street with a patio. Every dad I know looks at the program to find the biggest gap between their kid's dance numbers and then "goes to the bathroom" for a good hour or so. It's just an understood part of the day.
we did a boat ride around the entire island of Manhattan that was focused on architecture.
the cool thing is that actually went all the way around, up the East River, under a bunch of bridges and popping out on the Hudson River at the north end of Manhattan.
after that we went to a Japanese itzakaya in the Lower East Side w/ a few friends.

The California volleyball team has added two-time AVCA First-Team All-American Portia Sherman of the California beach volleyball team to its squad, head coach Jen Malcom announced Friday. Sherman, a 5-foot-9 native of Goleta, will bolster the Golden Bears' outside hitter group for the 2026 season.

Jesus Rodriguez had a chance to end Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh in the 10th inning.
The bases were loaded, Willy Adames had just come through with a 2-out, 2-RBI single to knot the Giants back up with the Pirates at six. All the Bay Area mothers, crowned under their inside-out rally caps and feted with a tote bag stadium giveaway on their special day, crossed their fingers in hope. Rodriguez, who is learning to catch on the fly while trying to fill a defensive hole left by one of the elite defenders in the league, was chosen over Bailey for exactly these types of moments when a disciplined at-bat could make the difference.
The Dodgers (24-16) dropped their second straight game with a score of 7-2 to the Braves (28-13) on Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. Justin Wrobleski was one out away from a complete game, but the offense didn’t come through. They collected only seven runs in the series loss to the MLB-best Braves.
Vintage Harden gets a win for Cleveland. i wasnt sure (on offense or defense) when the allowed him a 3 straight possessions to play 1-1 ball. He had 2 midrange shots and then a step-back 3 to take control of a close game in the final minute or two.
Literally my least favorite player in the history of the Association. Not just on account of the flopping. I recognize how skilled he is, but it's bad basketball.
My kids always make fun of me that I HATE Harden. His brand of ball, especially when he was with Houston, was bad. And it was always great that he never got the foul calls in the playoffs. Though SGA is getting closer to Harden. Except that he gets all the calls. I don't see how the officials give him the calls. Especially when Steph doesn't. My theory is that Steph just plays through contact and tries to make the shot so he never gets the calls.
Also hate LeBum, but that stems from The Decision.
Steph plays through contact and often makes the shot anyway, and a lot of his mugging happens off-ball because of his style of play. Less likely to get called there.
Someone recently turned me on to this one. You connect two countries by traveling through the fewest number of countries that share land borders. I guess on Mondays they make them harder. A couple of weeks ago, you could only travel through countries with red in their flag.
Interesting. As much as I love doing the Wordle, I've been trying to figure out how to make a gameshow about it interesting. Doing it in drag is a decent strategy.
Even though he’s famous for drag, the show wasn’t very draggy. But it was pretty lively and interesting. They had both 5 letter and 6 letter puzzles, and an 11 letter final, and there were two teams of two each. As you might expect, you get more points for solving sooner, so there’s a certain amount of luck involved. Then there were also the Lucky Balls! Which were sort of a dud. Apparently it’s all based on a British show.
Interesting. While WordleBot rated my skill higher (90/99), it rated the Luck exactly the same as yours. I also solved in 3 guesses. I don't know what your guesses were, but the pattern seems to suggest to me that you gathered enough information to solve on your third guess. Isn't that skillful?
EDIT: something about that doesn't sit right with me. I can't put my finger on it, but something's not right.

mothers day stuff
This was a strange Mothers' Day.

She graduates next week?? Wow time flies!
We were in Hartford for our daughter's volleyball tournament, and what mom wouldn't want to spend mother's day in Hartford?
(We'll be giving her a do-over next weekend.)
i remember spending most Father's Days at Divisional championships for rock climbing. it is always that weekend and the whole thing runs on parent volunteers to score and judge the youth climbers.

impressive ..
I'd say that when it comes to important playoff games this is the opposite of "Vintage Harden."
At least this year he probably isn't worn out like he is previous years when being ball-dominant tires him out for the playoffs.
Literally my least favorite player in the history of the Association. Not just on account of the flopping. I recognize how skilled he is, but it's bad basketball.

There was already an extremely similar game show called Lingo, hosted by RuPaul. Ran for a couple of seasons a few years ago.

maybe we can get a DBD team together to compete
I'm onboard if you're willing to have a team member who is consistently one line worse than you.

And yet Wordle allowed you to make the guess. Not sure how one divines that this is a lack of skill when it's within the rules.
