just booked a trip w/ wife and the younger child to do a 9 day lodge-to-lodge hiking in Peru, starting in Cusco and culminating at Machu Picchu.
we are spending 1.5 days in Lima on the way home. happy for a few suggestions.
i know that the food there is supposed to be fantastic. we dont necessarily need to eat at one of the top 50 in the world, but a good Japanese-Peruvian experience would be cool
Awesome. You're going to have an amazing time. The beauty of a long hike to Machu Picchu is that each day, the ruins get bigger and better, and you build appreciation for the Incas as you go. Then when you get to Machu Picchu, it will blow your freaking mind.
People who just take the train to Aguas Calientas to see Machu Picchu do not report having the same feeling about it. They're checking a box.
I think 1.5 days in Lima is enough, although since I was there 20 years ago Lima somehow went from being a giant city that you would fly into and then try to get out of as soon as you could, to being some sort of foodie paradise. Not sure what made that happen.
Met up with friends for pickleball this morning but it was lightly raining so we decided to not tear our ACLs and we all went to a diner, instead. I had eggs Florentine, even though I had already had cereal at home. So, BRB - I gotta go take a nap at my desk.
i keep seeing the Fisker Ocean cars around town. they are all electric, sort of look like station wagons and they dont make them anymore. seems strange that i see so many given how few there are.
The Fisker Ocean is a discontinued battery electric mid-size crossover SUV that was manufactured and marketed by Fisker, which filed for bankruptcy protection in June 2024. Released in 2023, the Ocean was intended to be the first of three models in a lineup of mass-market all-electric vehicles designed by Henrik Fisker
I don't understand why someone would buy a car after they've been discontinued, especially an electric car. Who is going to service them?? Why buy a car after it's been discontinued?
BERKELEY.— In a game where it trailed 4-0 before an out was recorded, the California baseball team crawled all the way back and twice brought the game-tying run within feet of home plate before ultimately falling to Stanford 7-6 Friday at Stu Gordon Stadium.
Sometimes a split is healthy. Bad relationships, a thriving stock purchase, ordering a banana-based dessert at an ice cream parlor, your sides at a comedy club. Some splits are bad: Bowling, personalities, the ends of hair, infinitives.
The Dodgers scored three runs in the sixth inning to back a strong start by Emmet Sheehan to beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium and salvage a series split after dropping the first two games.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The California track & field team put together a successful day of competition to kick off the ACC Outdoor Championships, breaking a pair of records and posting two new program top-10 marks Thursday at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park. The Golden Bears' women currently sit in first place with 19 points, while their men finished the first day in seventh place with seven points.
The No. 2 California men's rowing team will look to defend its crown at this year's MPSF Championship on Lake Natoma in Sacramento on Sunday morning. The second edition of the MPSF Men's Rowing Championship will feature five races beginning at 9 a.m. PT.
Too bad it's a weekend and people will miss this!

Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer on SNL was so funny.

I'm hoping to see Nate Bargatze tonight. He's playing the arena next door to work, so it'd be cheap and convenient.
4 tickets for $100, all-in. Wow that's good.

yoohoo ..
got it on the 2nd guess as i decided that would be my first foray into the continent!
i kept looking around for the red or orange blob. in the end it was the green one.
I guess I know many of the names in the area but didn't want to just have to blindly guess since I didn't know where they actually are.
I give up.
