Watched Jack Ryan: Ghost War (15/19 - Prime). Was entertaining and had action. Alright story. John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, Sienna Miller. I kinda wish they did the series instead of a movie, but I get that it's cheaper to do a movie.
They were going to spinoff the Domingo Chavez character with Michael Peña but I guess they didn't do that.
Made some Orvieto chicken salad last night so will probably eat that. Going to try to take the Spirit of Ethan Allen boat tour this afternoon and then grab food downtown. Maybe a burger on the water.
Apparently if not enough people sign up they can cancel the boat. HOWEVER, there is a wedding on board the 4 PM one so they are going out for sure, even though they are well below the min numbers. So, guess I'm crashing a wedding!
The wedding was on the middle floor and the rest of the 12 or so people were on the top floor. They said they only go out if there are more than 15 so they would've cancelled it without the wedding. I did not crash the wedding. In guessing they would'nt have let us on that floor
I remember I asked d$ for a ride to the airport (which was super nice given Albany was like an hour away) and we met up with you for lunch beforehand.
Actually the first time I met d$ was quite a story. I was driving cross country and he was at CU. So he said his Ultimate team was having an end of the season dinner so come on by at the house of their advisor (?). It was a fun dinner. The advisor asked if I was spending the night in Boulder but I said I was going out to Cheyenne. They were recently empty nesters and she said I could take one of their kids' rooms if I wanted. I thanked them but said I wanted to get as much driving in after dinner as I could.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Two women from the California track & field team qualified for the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday, leading a group of 11 Golden Bears competing in the NCAA West Regionals at Arkansas's John McDonnell Field in hopes of extending their collegiate seasons by one more meet.
The No. 2 California men's rowing team will be in the hunt for the national title this weekend at the 2026 IRA National Championships. The regatta will be held Friday to Sunday on Lake Natoma in Sacramento. Fans can watch the live stream on Overnght or follow along with live results on Regatta Central.
The No. 8 California women's rowing team is set to compete at the 2026 NCAA Rowing Championship from Friday to Sunday at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Georgia. Fans can watch a live stream of the regatta on NCAA.com and follow along via live stats on Regatta Timing.
California men's basketball sets up for its third season of competition in the Atlantic Coast Conference with its home and away opponents locked in for the coming 2026-27 season. The ACC announced all home and away pairings today, and the Golden Bears and their fans can expect some exciting games ahead at Haas Pavilion and beyond.
Apparently, there's something called Breeze Airways that flies direct from Albany to North Carolina. If that airline still exists this winter, I really should try to go to UNC/Duke.
I remember No 1 and ex-GF took Breeze from either LAX or SFO directly to PVD, and it was cheaper so it was a win. Wasn't too bad if I remember.
If UNC and Dook are the same roadie, I will most likely go again. Last time it wasn't but I wasn't sure the ACC was going to stay together for Cal to go back so I went to UNC. Fingers crossed they are the same roadie this year.
Golden State Valkyries hold on in last seconds to beat the Indiana Fever. I was having a a recent-Warriors vibe when the Valks were up by about five with 30 seconds to go. Seemed that they were gonna stumble into a loss, what with missed FT, losing the 50-50 balls, losing the jump balls. Dubs have been losing those games the last several years. But IND missed a couple of close-to-basket shots in the last few seconds – due to some typically tight GSV D – and held on.
GSV now tied for best record in the W! Defending champs (LV Aces) coming to town on Sunday!
So the Valks haven’t hit the PRO thread yet. I’ll have to go about fixing that. Once I’m back at computer. Yesterday’s win put them in a tie for best record in the W!
Giants legend Will Clark made his thoughts on San Francisco's outfield celebrations crystal clear.
After some of San Francisco's recent wins, its outfielders, oftentimes including some combination of Jung Hoo Lee, Drew Gilbert, Harrison Bader and Heliot Ramos, would come together after the final out and perform a coordinated celebration in center field.
Flying out to Milan on Sat. BTV-EWR-FRA-MXP. Can't remember why I didn't do EWR to MXP direct. Maybe I didn't want to get in at 7 AM and not have a hotel room yet and be kinda drained.
is one of my favorite Italian cities and the one to which i have been the most over the years.
it is easy to get direct flights and accessible to many parts of Italian and even S France, Switz, Austria.
one we time we didnt know where we were going to ski but we booked tix to Milan to have the most options. ended up driving to St Anton in Austria about 4 hours away.
plus, Milan has great food. shopping, and good art.
Speaking of cycling, I just read that American Sepp Kuss won the stage of the Giro. I’ve been disappointed because once the French Open started they are showing tennis instead of cycling on TruTv.
bummer. i usually watch the cycling on dedicated cycling channel. cant remember if it is FloBikes or HBO that it is on.
Sepp Kuss is a grand tour winner (the Vuelta a couple years ago). he usually gets the short end of the stick having to do all the hard work for the super-champs like Roglic and Vingegaard

my guess was not so lucky. the starting word was just particularly effective today.

nice. maybe you can get some good free food and drink at the wedding
meeting DBDer's IRL
I guess meeting on zoom doesn’t count, but it was nice to meet several DBDers on zoom during the pandemic
I forgot about that. tbb set those up.
Yeah, that’s where I had my one-and-only non-text based interaction.
stopped for dinner in Albany on the way home from VT and had a beer w/ NewAlbany. great to see people for real.
Such a treat!
BTW, I remember the first time I met a DBDer IRL...
D$ was living in Western Mass and we met up in Troy to watch a Cal game.
Dr. Ms. Newellbany was like, "you're going to watch a Cal game with someone you met on the internet?" Well, when you say it like that...
I remember I asked d$ for a ride to the airport (which was super nice given Albany was like an hour away) and we met up with you for lunch beforehand.

My HS friend invited me to this game or one other one but I'm out of town, unfortunately. Hopefully sometime later this year she'll invite me again.
she can invite me! ;-)
Haha..I'm guessing she's inviting me because her husband is out of town. Otherwise I think they go together
yeah, I figured that there was a catch!
but if is looking to sell both? could avoid the StubHub middleperson
I'm in SF, only a 15-min bike ride from Chase, so sometimes a last-minute offer works out...
I can check. I'm guessing they just find a friend to give them to if they can't go. I've never actually asked them what they do
cool. i'll officially join the GSV bandwagon
welcome!
So the Valks haven’t hit the PRO thread yet. I’ll have to go about fixing that. Once I’m back at computer. Yesterday’s win put them in a tie for best record in the W!
Oh I should do that. The WFC people have the sister site. i did forget about that.
yes lets do it. i am not necessarily a Valks fan but i do really like watching WNBA
Dodgers and the Giants win the off-day. Well maybe one team wins it better than the other.
Will Clark goes on NSFW rant slamming Giants' outfield thrust celebrations

Will Clark seems like he and MadBum and Brian McCann all get mad at hitters for admiring long HRs.
West Finals going to game 7 tomorrow night. i guess i was wrong about OKC sweeping thru the playoffs
now i am starting to have some hope that the Knicks can at least be competitive in the Finals
This series is a heavyweight bout, and it HAD to go seven games. Saturday's game 7 is appointment viewing. Both teams will be bringing it.
I think this game is for the championship.
