I would bet money that your second guess was my third guess. Which makes me wonder if your skill score shouldn't be higher, although I can understand the Luck score.
the 2nd guess meant there was only 1 word left so I think you're right, we probably both got the same word. Yeah I'm not sure why it isn't higher. though maybe it thought I got lucky to come up with word 2 from word 1.
Yup.
"XXXXX was a solid guess, and a lucky one. There is just one possible solution left, as far as I can tell. You should solve the puzzle on your next turn."
Sometimes I think WordleBot assumes it is speaking to mortals with average imagination. I would venture to guess that this group has better than average imagination. And that's not much of a guess; I think it is highly likely. I think that imagination is part of skill, although it can impact luck.
i should have figured that XENON was not going to be a correct answer but it was too tempting not to try
my grad school experiment was filled w/ Xenon. the high speed particles that zipped thru it would leave an ionization trail and we would use that to track the particle's trajectory thru the detector.
I must have missed the ping pong ball conspiracy stuff. I do remember that the NBA went to a lottery the same year that Ewing was drafted. The Warriors and Pacers had the worst records in the NBA (22 wins each), but the NBA didn't want either team drafting Ewing, so the Lottery was invented to prevent that from happening.
As I recall, there were no ping pong balls. There was, though, envelopes. And one theory is that the envelope containing the Knicks logo was frozen so that it would be obvious to the touch.
Another theory has it that a corner of the envelope containing the Knicks logo was creased, thereby marking it to the touch of the person drawing the winning envelope.

Well done! And yet your skill level is under 90. When I post my "scores", you'll see what I mean.
bet you it was all that good coffee you had this morning that helped!
yeah probably. even though I messed up making it. PIBKAC.

I liked your story, but the hint did help me a bit.
i was trying to make it as spoiler-less as possible. but i suppose any knowledge of words/letters is a little helpful
well now I know what word not to guess...
Now that's all I can see when I think about what word to guess for the last word...
That probably wouldn't have been my guess anyways.

I think I will root for the Knicks, because I couldn’t vote for them on W4C today.
I'm rooting for the Spurs. Not a Knicks fan because I was a Celtics fan in the 80s. Not an NYC sports fan in general.
You’re reminding me of the Patrick Ewing lottery fiasco.
I was also a Celtics fan in the 80s, living there then. Though I remained a fan of the Warriors and even, at that time, the Lakers.
But I don’t really have much of a stake in NY or San Antonio.
Was that the cold ping pong ball conspiracy? I'd believe David Stern would do that.

Hmm..maybe that's what it was. Maybe one of the other sports had a lottery where there was a rumor of a ping pong ball in a thermos.
Knicks playoff win streak over. Spurs win a tough one on the road at MSG.
seems like the Spurs were a step quicker all night. they kept extending their lead each time that Knicks caught up or got close

he works tirelessly coming up w/ new schemes to defraud the American people. he must get tired sometimes and need a break
Or stays up all night going scrooge McDuck on his mattress with the money he's making on all his decisions.
great atmosphere in NY last night. lots of street parties, people moving their TV out to have mini watch parties on the sidewalks.
we (HAG and i) tried heading to a local bar w/ no 1. it was sold out by 815p and so we ended up watching at home.
i am in Seattle for next 10 days (traitor daughter is graduating) so i'll have to watch the rest of the Finals from afar.
