We have two, a momma and one of her three sons. She gave birth to her litter of three kittens on May 20, 2012, in our backyard, so we know the ages of her kits. One (Mr. Gray) was adopted by a niece and her then-fiance, now husband. The niece and fiance renamed him Riley.
We kept two, both black cats; Cricket and Chewy. Cricket chased off Chewy, who found a nearby family. Chewy died 2 years ago.
At one point before Mommy and her brood, we had 9 cats, almost all of whom were outdoors cats. Almost all were strays or rescues. Once Mommy and Cricket pass, we will be done with cats.
We have two dogs, Tigger and Oliver. Tigger is a dachshund mix. We're not sure what Oliver is, though he seems to be part Yorkie.
not sure why but cats seem to like me. whenever i go to someone's house they seem to want to cozy up next to me even though i mostly try to ignore them
I used to watch and feed my downstairs neighbors cats when they were away. I’d sometimes go down to read and just try to keep them company but they got so cozy climbing up on me it was hard to read.
I have a Japanese bobtail cat, which usually has a nubbin for a tail. My cat expressed her genetics differently and has a long tail, but - like all recessive-gene long-tails - has a big ol' kink in her tail. So she kind of has a Pikachu tail. Also, that species rivals Siamese for being very very vocal. This is why her nickname is Ms. Meow.
Stormy had to have most of her tail cutoff. Got infected and waited too long to go to the vet. So she had like a 1.5 " tail sticking up. I always wondered if other cats looked at her weird.
Our Cricket also has a kink in his tail, but it's small and only noticeable near the end if you run your hand along the tail. He's a regular head butt-er, Cricket is.
We got a Tuxedo cat around 2007. Had to put her down last a year ago. I think her kidneys were failing. Hit No 3 the hardest. She lived a good 18 years.
New York loses its collective mind after the Knicks took the lead with a long-range tip-in with 1.4 seconds to go after being down by 29 with a bit more than a quarter to go.
MISSOULA, MT – Behind a season-high 20 hits, the Oakland Ballers scored a season-high 17 runs in a 17-12 victory over the Missoula Paddleheads at Allegiance Field at Ogren Park to tie the series a game apiece.
The 2026 San Francisco Giants have been utterly helpless when playing from behind. Faced with an uphill climb, the slightest late-ish game incline, the offense’s legs would turn into pudding, their bats into pool noodles. Winless in 30 games in which they trailed after the 6th inning, it’d be more than accurate to say this team has been as resilient as a piece of printer paper in a downpour.
Giants were down 9-1 going into the bottom of the 8th. The Nats had their way with the Giants until their bullpen shat the bed. The Nats bullpen needed 74 pitches for the final two innings and would have needed more except it was a walkoff.
The Dodgers had a five-run lead in the sixth inning on Wednesday, but the Pirates rattled across eight runs against the Dodger bullpen as they stole the middle match 9-8.
California men's golf sophomore Ziqin Zhou was named to the 2026 Men's College Golf All-America Teams, earning honorable mention honors as announced by Golf Coaches Association of America Wednesday. Zhou becomes the first Cal player to earn All-American honors since Sampson Zheng was selected twice in 2023 and 2024.
EUGENE, Ore. – A mild and sunny day at Hayward Field heralded an exciting Day 1 of the NCAA Outdoor Championships as California track & field's Trevor Rogers and Seth Johnson competed in Eugene for the first time as collegians Wednesday, aiming to build off their standout 2026 seasons.
When Matthew Cindric returned to Cal in May to attend the Golden Buddies Football Clinic for the first time since its inaugural edition in 2023, he was quite pleased.
The 2025-26 season for the California women's basketball team was defined by resilience, growth and a team that continued to find its stride when the stakes were highest.
In a year marked by marquee victories and a postseason run that extended deep into March, the Golden Bears finished 21-15 overall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), building momentum for the future. The season marked Cal's second straight season with more than 20 wins and its deepest postseason run under head coach Charmin Smith. Smith also registered her 100th career victory with a win over Wake Forest in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Throughout the season, records were broken and a number of players had the best year of their careers.

June 10, 2026 - Two remarkable comebacks in sports history:
Giants walk off the Washington Nationals, 11-10, on a walkoff grand slam after trailing the Nats 9-1 going into the bottom of the 8th.
NBA Final: Knicks come from 29 down vs. the Spurs at home to eke out a 1-point win in Game 4 and take a 3-1 series lead.
A year from now, which game will be remembered better? Knicks comeback vs. the Spurs, hands down. Because it was the NBA Finals.
Memory in the Bay Area may skew differently.
Could be. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if that were the case.
Giants were down 9-1 going into the bottom of the 8th. The Nats had their way with the Giants until their bullpen shat the bed. The Nats bullpen needed 74 pitches for the final two innings and would have needed more except it was a walkoff.
Sort of the mirror opposite of the prior game, that wasted Webb’s work.
