My first exposure to the World Cup was either in '78 or '82. My father was of German descent and really loved watching international soccer. (Un)fortunately at the time, even in Los Angeles, the only way to watch World Cup matches was on the Spanish language TV station on the UHF. Neither of us spoke a word of Spanish (even though my mother is of Mexican descent and speaks fluent Spanish), but we still loved it, especially the "GOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL" calls by the announcers.
Fast forward to last night, I had to watch the evening match in Spanish, even though I still don't know a lick of Spanish. Good times!
There’s a guy I know from the free shows at the Kennedy Center who doesn’t have cable or streaming. When I talked to him yesterday he said that with the setup he has he gets a couple Spanish language channels and was looking forward to watching the game last night. He does not speak Spanish.
Reminds me of when we used to watch the original Iron Chef when it was on KTSF 26 only in Japanese. Eventually they added English dubbing, but it was still better when he didn't know what they were saying.
X is not its own country; it is an archipelago that is an integrated part of the Kingdom of Y. However, under the X Treaty, it has a special, demilitarized, and visa-free international status
While Y holds full sovereignty, citizens of signatory nations (including the US) have equal rights to live, work, and conduct business there without a visa
Had a dog when I was a kid, and when we moved into our own place, have had 1-2 for over 36 years. Currently, a mini-Aussie. Not big enough to be good for anything, but she is totally loving, absolutely devoted to #2, and adores my daughter when she visits.
Only down side is we haven't had a cat for over a year, the only time except for about 1 year in and after college I haven't had at least one cat in my life. The dog was put in her place by the older cats, but after they both passed, #2 is afraid the no-longer-a-puppy dog might not behave around a kitten.
I’m hot and cold on dogs. Way too many people don’t have control of their dogs so when I’m out on trails I hate to see them. And they are too much work for an irresponsible person like me to have one. But the neighborhood dogs love me and I enjoy interacting with them when they’re out for a walk.

MISSOULA, MT – Davis Drewek homered twice and three others went deep as the Oakland Ballers defeated the Missoula Paddleheads 12-7 at Allegiance Field at Ogren Park on Thursday night for a second consecutive victory.
Despite a few scares in the late innings, the Dodgers were in control of this one for the vast majority, taking the lead in the third and holding it all the way into an 8-6 win in yet another high-scoring affair, routine for this series. However, the result takes a backseat to the concerns surrounding Shohei Ohtani and Justin Wrobleski, both having left this game early due to injuries—Ohtani in the seventh inning with what was described as left knee inflammation and Wrobleski with a right hamstring contusion after a collision trying to cover first. However, even in a game he couldn’t complete, Ohtani made sure to leave his mark by starting the scoring with a solo shot in the third, doing this a day after throwing over 100 pitches in a quality start.
EUGENE, Ore. – Three members of the California track & field team closed out the 2026 outdoor season for the Golden Bears on Thursday, with two joining sophomore teammate Trevor Rogers (who competed in the long jump the day before) as All-Americans on a bright and warm day at Hayward Field.
The California beach volleyball team signed two accomplished student-athletes Thursday, bolstering its depth for next season and beyond.
Julia Sprecher, a 2026 Second Team All-American who spent the past two seasons at national power LSU, joins the Golden Bears as a rising junior. Meanwhile, Macey Butler, who went 53-27 at Texas over the past three seasons, will be a grad transfer for Cal in 2027.

Even thought the luck score isn’t that high, it should have been. I think I was very lucky.
I think your skill score should also be higher. It takes a bit of imagination and courage to be skilled.
EDIT: And now I understand why *anyone's* skill score would not be higher. A bot knows nothing of imagination or courage. It's just a machine.

i am not a dog person either. however i would probably want a big dog.
