they have 30-40% budget surpluses from oil and gas $$ and they use it generally for the benefit of NMers.
they are at $75B. only marginally behind Alaska at $80B but expect to be passing them soon.
they are investing heavily in tech and specifically quantum computing which is why we were there for 2 days.
additionally much of their fund pays for things like universal child care and some of the best community college in the country.
I’ve been gone from Alaska for a long time but it was nice to get that fund dividend check every year.
