Might be going to NYC for Thanksgiving now that the 3 kids are all on the east coast. No 1 never really ever came back but No 2 did. He always wants to go to the Big Game. But now that they're all there, their mom suggested we fly out there instead. So if we do, we'll probably be having Thanksgiving dinner with HSB and family on Wed, then fly back on Thurs because it will be cheaper.
My big question...do I stay here for the Big Game and fly out early Sun morning? I really want to, but timing may not work out.
leaving for Israel later this week for a week of work. interestingly the airports and public transport are closed on the Sabbath so i am there 2 weekends before and after the work week.
first weekend, a friend of a friend is taking me around the Dead Sea and Jersusalem.
2nd weekend, i am considering driving south to the Negev Desert, the Mitzpe Ramon crater, and possibly a day trip to Perta.
it would be a pretty long travel day to get to Petra and back including the Jordanian border crossing. any have any experience going to Petra? things to do? not to miss? or is it all pretty self-explanatory?
I wiped out today, going down the rabbit hole. I got this message 3 times: “valid guess, but it’s not one of the words I think will be a solution based on what I’ve learned from playing “
Sometimes I rule out common words, at least to start, because I assume they already would've been used as a solution. But I guess they're still useful for ruling out letters.
The Golden State Valkyries made timely plays down the stretch to earn a clutch 88-83 win over the Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center Arena on Saturday. The Valkyries trailed 77-74 with 3:16 remaining but took the lead, courtesy of an 8-0 run and never looked back, sealing the win. Gabby Williams, in her first game since being named an All-Star starter, thrived as a closer down the stretch, tying the game with an and-1 layup and banking in an isolation basket in the final minute. Williams finished with 19 points and tied a season-high with four 3-pointers. Veronica Burton led the Valkyries with 21 points and five assists. With the win, the Valkyries complete the season series sweep over the Dream and extend their winning streak to four games.
After shutting out the Padres on Saturday, the Dodgers couldn’t rally back from down five as they dropped Sunday’s contest 5-2, helping San Diego snap their seven-game losing streak.
USMNT's Balogun has red card suspended; Trump asked FIFA to review
Shortly after Mr. Balogun’s red card, senior Trump administration officials, including Howard Lutnick, the commerce secretary, and Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House task force on the World Cup, engaged lawyers to help the U.S. Soccer Federation try to appeal, despite FIFA’s rules against such appeals, according to two of the people familiar with the call
My take is that this is probably the right result but one that was arrived at by two horrendous processes that basically canceled each other out. (Doing a slow-mo booth review of a call that was not made on the field, then of course having political interference to reverse the suspension, or at least the appearance of such.)
"Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies," a post on Blatter's X account read.
"If a U.S. President intervenes with the FIFA President -- and a player is suddenly cleared before a World Cup knockout match -- the question is unavoidable: Quo vadis [where are you going], FIFA?
Sepp Blatter is former head of FIFA. Blatter's reign as FIFA president ended in 2015 when he was banned from football for an initial eight years, reduced to six on appeal, in regard to a payment made to Michel Platini.

I think I've watched a total of about 10 min. I think I'm rooting for the Norwegians because I think the row celly is the best, especially when the whole few sections of fans are doing it in the stadium.
I wonder how often the golden boot is won by someone that hasn't made at least the semis. Because I would assume, unless your defense sucks, that if someone scores that many goals their team usually wins.

(Doing a slow-mo booth review of a call that was not made on the field, then of course having political interference to reverse the suspension, or at least the appearance of such.)
So basically, it's FIFA.
So if the US loses tonight, what will Trump do then?
USMNT lost decisively. Let's see what happens.
"Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies," a post on Blatter's X account read.

I mean, LOL at Sepp Blatter criticizing anyone else for being corrupt.
the sports world is a afire w/ all the latest turmoil on this red card.
they need to work the refs to give the spain/portugal winner a bunch of red cards to make it easier for us to beat them in the next round
also this is a juicy game featuring #3 and #7 ranked teams in the world

Diminishes my already lukewarm interest in the tournament. And all for a birthright citizen.

The Mexicans suffer rare loss at home
some good rowing seen here

I like the rowing thing. Shouldn’t be exclusive to Norway. Obviously Minnesota Vikings could use this. Also the Valkyries.
And Cal rowing teams, who actually row!
Haaland continues hot streak of scoring goals whenever he steps onto the field
the race for the Golden Boot
Kylian Mbappé (France): 7 Goals
Lionel Messi (Argentina): 7 Goals
Erling Haaland (Norway): 7 Goals
Harry Kane (England): 6 Goals
I wonder how often the golden boot is won by someone that hasn't made at least the semis. Because I would assume, unless your defense sucks, that if someone scores that many goals their team usually wins.
yes, i imagine that whichever of these team progress the furthest have the best chance of having the Golden Boot winner
