normally for personal domestic (or intl) travel i dont get any. i mostly rely on credit card benefits - which are significant, and the fact that now most airlines give you travel credit for cancelling a reservation.
do people have a provider they like for intl travel?
our company is still young, startup-y, and no clear guidance. they require us to have travel and medical insurance for intl travel, make us find and pay for it upfront, and then reimburse us.
its fine since hopefully we will grow up and there will be some normalcy. my question is if people know how to insure electronics/laptop separate from medicial/trip insurance?
every policy i looked at had the electronics insurance as an add-on
I have never purchased any additional insurance for international travel other than one time I got auto insurance for driving in Mexico. I know credit cards come with trip delay or interruption coverages, but not medical. Maybe I should look into more details of my current health insurance policy. I've never even thought about electronics.
I generally hadn't gotten travel insurance other than what CC benefits provide, other than traveling for work right when it opened up after Covid. Like you said, United just gives travel credit when cancelling so I don't see it as big a deal when needing to cancel flights.
We got an annual policy from Allianz for this past year to cover a few big trips (long VRBO stays, etc)-- people around here have had good experience with them for reimbursement. I can't remember electronics coverage info- but I will be sure to be looking at that if/when we do our renewal!
stage 5 .. flat-ish course just north of Spanish border to Pau
All the action on a flat stage that's expected to produce the first bunch sprint of the 2026 edition
they have tweaked the sprint points methodology to award extra points on stages like today to give the sprinters a better chance at actually winning the points classification (green jersey).
in the last few years Pogacar has come close to winning this jersey too because he collected so many points on the other finishes that were not bunch sprints.
ACC Network is just doing a one day/one ACC team thing right now where they air 24 hours of each college/university’s important victories from the prior year covering various sports.
California volleyball has announced its 2026 schedule, featuring six teams that ended the 2025 season ranked in the AVCA top 25 as well as eight NCAA Tournament teams. The complete 2026 Cal volleyball schedule can be found here, with the Golden Bears opening their campaign at home the week after hosting an open scrimmage on Aug. 22.
The Golden State Valkyries head overseas for the first time in franchise history, facing one of the WNBA’s newest expansion teams, the Tempo, in Toronto on Wednesday. The Valkyries enter Wednesday’s game with the league’s longest active winning streak, having won five straight games. After setting an expansion team record for wins in an inaugural season, Golden State is 15-7 and firmly in third place in the WNBA standings in Year 2. The Tempo are 9-11 over their first 20 games in franchise history.
OAKLAND, CA – Charlie Hurley tossed six strong innings and Noah Blythe hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth as the Oakland Ballers won Tuesday's series opener over the Modesto Roadsters 5-3 at Raimondi Park.
Oakland (18-25) took a 2-0 lead through five innings after an RBI groundout and an RBI single from Jaden Collura in the third and fifth innings, respectively. Collura recorded a game-high three RBI on the night.
LOS ANGELES— The Dodgers were close to adding another walk-off win against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, but instead came up short in a 4-3 defeat.
Shohei Ohtani reached yet another milestone on Tuesday night, teeing off for his 300th career home run and leadoff homer run no. 25 as a Dodger to give his team an immediate cushion. Ohtani is now the 18th active player in baseball with at least 300 career home runs— 129 of them coming with the Dodgers.

i have been toying w/ the annual policy thing. helps to know that someone else finds value it it
wait .. it is "surprisingly cheap" as in $500/yr for the exec level.
i just paid $237 for a single work trip to Israel and i already have personal trip to Peru on the books.
How many people are old enough to remember the kiosks at the airport selling trip insurance.
Copa Mundial
I decided that I'm going to root for Norway onwards. It's hard for me to watch games without rooting for someone.
Even though I'm not really watching the WC, I've been rooting for Norway since I've been seeing the rowing celly. Love it!
the stuff on internet w/ the rowing is pretty fantastic.
here is a good one from the Tour de France the other day

That's great!
appears to be a rest day that WC. quarterfinals start tomorrow w/ France vs Morocco.
you can watch the Tour instead
Unfortunately I don’t have Peacock so I’m relying on the nightly roundup online which is usually around a twenty minute recap.
i can watch the NBC sports channel on my YouTubeTV sub. to be fair, i have Peacock too.

maybe a good time to talk about the jerseys and the race-within-a-race
yellow jersey (maillot jaune) - overall leader and the overall winner at the end
polka dot - mountain points classification
green - sprint points classification
white - best young rider (25 and under i think)
even if you cant win the overall, there is plenty to ride for. many ways to be immortalized in the annals of Tour de France history
these are my daily espresso cups (and assorted cycling themed coffee things)
