Sardinia is all about pasta. I went to a lot of different grocery stores there and they don't stock all-purpose flour. No bread flour. Perhaps some cake flour pre-mixed with baking powder. No yeast. And since they are a tourist area, they sell a lot of pizza based upon Sicilian style (rectangular, foccaccia-based). However, they suck at making bread. Like, they make it fast and fluffy, no slow fermentation a la focaccia. No chewy crusts. So even their best pizza is zero flavor, fluffy wonderbread-like with no texture. Stick to pasta there.
Since Sardinians don't traditionally use chemical or yeast leavener, they usually serve guttiau (aka pane carasau) before meals. Think: flour + water that is rolled very, very thin and then baked or dry-fried to make very thin crackers. The upside is that you don't fill up on bread, because it takes a bushel-full to even equal a single dinner roll.
