I do wonder how hard it is for adults to learn another language. I assume languages that are similar to one you already know is easier than trying to learn a completely new language. For example, I already somewhat know Mandarin. Not sure how easy it is to learn Japanese or Korean, but is that easier than trying to learn something like Arabic? And I do just mean speaking not reading/writing.
I remember when Mike Bloomberg as the sitting Mayor of NYC learned Spanish. People gave him a ton of crap for his accent when he would use it in press events, but I give him credit! Bro was a 60+ year old billionaire who runs the largest city in America, and he set aside time to learn Spanish so he can talk to more New Yorkers. I was super impressed by that.
The language ratings I see are all for native English speakers. Generally, if the alphabet is similar, like French, it’s easier. Different alphabet like Russian is harder. No alphabet like Mandarin or Japanese is hardest.
Not sure about Mandarin to Japanese. In a related vein, Facebook lately has been throwing me ads for Cantonese speakers (which I am not!) to learn Mandarin, so I guess there is some demand there.
i dont thing being good at Linkedin games is a sign of anything other than you play linked in games more than others no different than Wordle, NYT Crossword, etc.
most of these games have a certain thing you get used to over time. i certainly didnt get smarter but was able to get to the point where i was regularly able to complete a Sat NYT Crossword w/o cheating or hints. there was a time when i would struggle just get 1/2 of Wed done.

I've had 2 of the classic Patagonia shells with the fleece inside. One my parents got me in HS and one my parents got me maybe after I graduated from Cal. My dad started using my HS one and I gave my newer one to No 1. What I liked about it was that it had fleece all the way down the sleeves whereas the other brands didn't (looking at you Eddie Bauer). It was a great jacket.
Right now I have a few things from Columbia since I have friends that can get me in the employee store. I do wish I knew someone that worked at Patagonia that could get me in their employee store.
Patagonia is amazing. I had an absolutely fantastic time in San Carlos de Bariloche, including some great hikes and other adventures in the mountains and a streak of epic late nights out on the town. (This was all 20+ years ago.)

I don't know what your schedule is for acclimation, but take the elevation seriously. We went from Lima, to Nazca, to Arequipa (7,600'), then up to Lake Titicaca (12,500'), and then everyone got terribly sick. Like, barfing.
We got the hell out of there in the morning on a bus down to Cusco and felt much better. I don't know whether we would have felt crappy if we had gone straight up to Cusco, because 11,000' is still freaking high.

yeah he definitely had his patterns he recognized and took advantage of those. Similar to if you play Minesweeper a lot you can speed run through it.

when i got to some amazing mountain scenery, i will say "it is not like Patagonia, but it was incredible in its own way."
the closest place i have been that i imagine rivals it is the Wind River Range in WY, a bit south of the Tetons. same range, just a different section.
we hiked to this area called the Cirque of the Towers were where we almost 270 deg surrounded by tall granite spires.

indeed. we have some pre-hike altitude sickness meds as well as almost 48 hrs in Cusco before starting.
