The Golden Bears fought a defensive first half, guarding off seven total shots from the Pilots before gaining more possession in the attacking half after the first 45 minutes. Cal produced good defensive headers to combat the Portland corner kicks, the Pilots holding an edge seven to one in the stat category.
The California baseball team bolstered its staff Friday bringing back Bob Ralston as an assistant coach, as announced by Head Coach Mike Neu.
Ralston, who began his coaching career at Cal in 1990 as the Golden Bears' infield coach, returns to Berkeley with 35 years of experience having taught baseball at every level of the sport. He most recently served as the head coach of Los Medanos College in 2026 following a stint as the skipper for the Bellingham Bells in 2024, where he led the collegiate summer league team to a 32-22 overall record with a North Division title game appearance.
