I remember walking by PSL with my kids and seeing a sign for Pimentel. I both wondered if I misremembered that that was PSL, and also wondering if Mickey Pimentel was good enough to warrant having a building named after him.

Wiata78's avatar

A group of us spontaneously met in PSL Physics 5A, and continued to sit together for a few more classes. Good times.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Having 8 AM Physics 7A and Chem 1A classes there were BRUTAL. Walking over from Unit 3 and then trying to stay away in those seats that have a little recline and being able to put your feet up on the chair in front of you didn't help...

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

I never had a large class like that at Cal, but sometimes I went to a friend's class at PSL just to hang out

I guess I have econ 1 in Zellerbach with 1000 people. But I never went.

Wiata78's avatar

Econ 1 in Wheeler was my biggest classroom. A lot of people showed up! I had some DIGS class there too. I think it was DIGS, forgot what that stood for.

heyalumnigo's avatar

PSL Chem 1A and Physics 7A were definitely the largest class. I guess most of my freshman classes were fairly big. Math 50A was in Dwinelle I think. Physics 7B and 7C were in LeConte I think. And then I had E28 I think in Evans and E36 maybe also in Evans.

Some "interesting" solutions to not allowing sub .500 MLB playoff teams

How to keep losing teams out of MLB playoffs

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/49732045/mlb-2026-playoffs-postseason-losing-teams-500-schedule-format-interleague-intraleague

On the morning of Aug. 23, if you sat down with your coffee and opened up the wild-card standings page on your ESPN App, a number of adjectives might have flooded your mind.

Strange. Weird. Wacky. Lackluster. Close. Nutty. Packed. Clustered. For me, there were two: inevitable and shameful.

Morikawa had a poor Saturday to drop out of close competition and finished T-14 in the middle of the field. Still made just over half a million.

Tiffany Hayes, Kayla Thornton and Kaitlyn Chen Combine for 50 Points to Lead Valkyries Past Fire (86-69)

https://valkyries.wnba.com/news/gameday-recap-20260830

Tiffany Hayes (18 PTS), Kayla Thornton (17 PTS) and Kaitlyn Chen (15 PTS) combined for 50 points to lead the Valkyries to an 86-69 victory over the Portland Fire at Moda Center on Sunday. The Valkyries’ depth was on full display as several players stepped up in larger roles with two starters (Gabby Williams, Cecilia Zandalasini) and a leading candidate for Sixth Player of the Year (Janelle Salaün) out of the lineup. The Valkyries led by as many as 26 points in the win and had five players score in double figures. On the other end, the Fire’s offense sputtered without its leading scorer, Carla Leite, as they scored just 69 points and shot 38.7% from the field. Portland's 69 points are the second-fewest they've had in a game this season.

Dodgers finally find some offense, backing stingy Tyler Glasnow (beat Detriot 6-1)

https://www.truebluela.com/dodgers-scores-standings/123194/teoscar-hernandez-freddie-freeman-tyler-glasnow

The start of Sunday’s game was delayed 58 minutes by rain, and the Dodgers offense was delayed by two months of mediocre hitting. But they scratched together enough to end a dismal road trip on a relatively high note, beating the Tigers 6-1 at Comerica Park to secure a series win in Detroit.
