Barrows was the site of my most "Cal" Berkeley experience. I had waited until second semester sophomore year to declare major. OK, I waited until the last possible day to declare- and then there was a sit-in at the Poli Sci department office in Barrows, and I couldn't get in. I called in a panic b/c I was going to do EAP the next year and had to have my major declared in order to go on EAP. Extremely lucky to reach an awesome human in the Dept Office- she snuck me up some back stairs/back entrance and I was able to fill out the poli sci major declaration paperwork while the sit in chanting was happening in the next room. Classic Cal!!!
unrelated to my Cal experience, when i was in middle school i went to an informal Bengali School every Sunday for 2 hours on Cal campus. we just took up a couple rooms in Dwinelle. we would park in the little lot between Barrows and Sproul.
i think that is where HAG took me to a tailgate last time we went to a Cal game.
